Two names that I found interesting. Standeford is a poor man's Mike Furrey, but he made some solid catches in Detroit.

Similar to what Las Vegas did last year to win the title, may work for the expansion Night Hawks.

Surprised to see Shawn Andrews name there.

White, not Wright.
Dewayne White.
I was like, who the hell is Dewayne Wright? haha.
Piss poor draft.
Surprised to see Shawn Andrews name there.
Hah, remember when he signed that 19 year contract or whatever it was? Bet he didn't see himself playing in the UFL in 2010 when he was penning that one.

Andrews went from being the premier OG, to this...HA!
Terrell Owens should've declared for the UFL Draft.
I bet there's a whole lot of NFL fan frustration combined into that draft, lol.

That being said, go Simoni Lawrence!

I don't think Ciron Black has signed anywhere yet either. Which is worse for him, as far as we know he doesn't even have a sister. He just sucks, apparently.

Shawn Andrews went from being one of the better OG's in the NFL to a 3rd round pick in the UFL in a very short time.

One-in-the-same. He'll turn 35 this November and has been out of the NFL since 2006.

This is sad. Why don't they call themselves the Leftover League?
Would you rather: Play in the UFL for a full season or be on the practice squad of an NFL team?

All they're doing is bringing opportunities to cities without NFL teams and players without NFL contracts.
Just that.

There's no Vince McMahon like the XFL.

You do know they lost 30 million in their first season right?
They would have to have a huge turn around to keep it going, they did such a poor job getting the word out, had I not been such a huge football fan I never would have even heard about it.
I also can't see how you can say the fans are loving it? I have seen high school games with more fans in the stands.

Agreed. Half the people on this site didn't even know the season started. Do you think the general population had an idea they were playing?

anyone think it would be cool if it was an affiliated minor league of the NFL? i mean something like baseball (im gonna be honest i dont know how the baseball minor leagues work) but if it had NFL backing and didnt try to compete with rejects of the league to ultimately fail.

From what I understand the UFL would love the NFL to back them but the NFL as of now has shown little interest.

I'm not saying the league is going survive but, what league/business actually turns a profit it's first year? Most lose money in their infancy. Hell the UFC was like $100 million in debt when it was sold and now it's a billion dollar company.

That's the problem. The football fan seems to think the UFL is a joke.
People want to watch the best of the best, not guys that aren't even good enough to be on the practice squad.
How many people actually watch the NBA D-League?

Because it is. If I want to watch second rate football I'll watch college. No one wants to watch a league starring Simoni Lawrence and Dewayne Wright. What makes this league different or better than the XFL, Arena League, or USFL?

It's completely different than those leagues, however it's also the worst of the four.

I thought Michael Ray Garvin would be a sick return man in the NFL, figured he was a lock to stick as a return specialist and would be a damn good one at that. He'll be a good pick-up for that league.

Selected by the Omaha Nighthawks in the United Football League draft, former Baltimore Ravens cornerback Frank Walker said he has no intentions of playing in the minor professional football league.
"So I just heard I got drafted to a UFL team, which was hilarious," Walker wrote. "Omaha Nighthawks, no, I will not be playing there."

The UFL has held numerous tryouts in all 5 cities, and thousands of prospects were there. But not Frank Walker and Shawn Andrews...

I agree that prior communication between the teams/players seems like a no brainer, but even if it's just getting a guy's rights, it's ok with me to use the pick. If you have the chance to bring in a big name like Shawn Andrews, no matter how slim it may be, then these teams should do it. What do they have to lose? The payoff is huge, and if they miss, I don't see any real consequence aside from the wasted pick (which every team probably has a wasted pick or two). This UFL Draft doesn't look like a make-or-break group of players.

I like the UFL. I always kind of follow the alternative leagues and see if any of them catch on and the UFL were pretty smart in how they have run things thus far.
Omaha and Hartford, namely, are markets without major teams and getting involved with them is cool. Also, it's perfect for either older guys who are looking for one last shot or younger players who need playing time or getting accustomed to an NFL-style offense.
It's however, not being executed too well. They announced this would be a 6-team league this season but San Antonio wouldn't sign on because of the college team there (I think UT-SA?). It seems that they only had a rough idea of what they wanted to do as it took pretty long for them to announce when the draft would be, where the expansion team (Omaha) would be located, the schedule, etc.
It's slowly expanding which is great, but VS isn't exactly a great platform to show off your league. Just ask the IRL.

Tried to go to an NY Sentinels game last year but college/track got in the way. From what I heard, it's definitely worth attending as the prices are low and the atmosphere is solid. Only problem is that the attendance is always so low that the atmosphere is mostly comprised of the players and coaches.....
