I'll be interested to see how Tebow does the rest of the preseason... that throwing motion is definitely a work in progress.
Someone should probably tell Anthony Munoz to mute his mic when he's talking to the guys in the truck, but I'm not going to be that person

Meh... he's 245lbs. As long as he doesn't go fullback style all the time like at Florida and only does it occasionally, he should be alright.

Based solely on tonight, Quinn shouldn't even be on a pro roster.......
But if, hypothetically, Orton were to go down and be out for a while, there would be a very interesting situation to follow.

Brady Quinn doesn't even deserve another shot at even getting near starter status anymore. He should just be happy he has a job in the NFL, he doesn't have that much longer.

OK, does it make it right? No. That is why the coach needs to chew his ass out and get it out of his system. He is the future of a franchise. This is preseason week 1 in a game you cannot win. BONEHEAD. Herbert hits a little higher and goodnight Tebow.
You proved my point. That is a great way to lose a QB. No time left in a game you cant win.

For real. He looks big for a linebacker standing on the sidelines, let alone a QB. If quarterback doesn't work out he might have a decent shot at linebacker or fullback or tight end, esp. if his work ethic is all it's hyped to be.
Nah, Orton is Orton....he won't do anything to lose the job. His deep balls are about as accurate as punts, but if you don't ask him to do anything too dangerous, he'll protect the ball and get it in the hands of guys who can make plays with it.
He might not be able to push the field, but as long as he stays accurate, he'll be a decent starter.

Very surprised to see Shipley come out as our #3 in this game ahead of Andre Caldwell, but he sure delivered. Looked pretty darn impressive yet again. He has an uncanny ability to get open and is as sure handed as they come. Also had another nice return.
Gresham looked as advertised in the passing game but he definitely needs to continue to work on his blocking, that could be such a liability for this team if he doesn't improve. He got beat bad on that run to the outside on third and short that got Ceddy tackled behind the lines.
Really liked what I saw out of Pacman again this week, though I wish they would've let him field another punt.

man, considering the heat the TJ Ward pick got he has been a 1st team safety since day one, looked great in his first career preseason NFL game, and the coaches say that they're not worried about him being a good player in the NFL a single bit..
I've seen this a few times now wih him...What did Ward do that was so great that I missed? I remember him getting beat by jennings on a long TD and give a catch to Lee in one on one coverage. He was part of a secondary that Rodgers had his way with too. If there wasn't a dropped pass Rodgers would have posted a perfect passer rating.

Finally got to see a full game tonight. Just some very quick thoughts:
Shipley looks legit, real good slot guy whos made the transition quickly. looks really natural and comfortable.
I had the bengals announcers on my tv. they sucked. i hate homerish announcers, especially when they miss names on their own team and call things rediculously one sided. so i watched a lot of the game on mute. random, yes very. back to real stuff
Orton looked ok, his one deep ball was a good five yards short to an open guy but he had good zip and looked pretty composed.
Palmer had some shakey accuracy on a few throws but overall looked solid with growing chemistry with shipley and TO. The line looked a little shakey though, Benson had trouble finding holes at times, im wondering if that was on gresham, who i didnt really come away with much of an opinion of. I think shipley will make a much bigger impact over the middle for this team, with gresham using his size in the red zone to capitalize.
Neither defense looked great. The bengals struggled early and especially to generate pressure. the broncos also had a lot of trouble with this especially the backups, who created no pash rush at all quite a few times.
Quinn should be cut. that was an abortion of a performance. He missed guys in every which way possible, really pathetic. hes done, i see no signs of life in his career. maybe weis could revive him, but i dont think it can be done. stick a fork in him.
tebow: work in progress but not bad at all considering the strides he had to make, made some nice throws, missed a couple others, got smacked around and his release was a bit inconsistent. but overall i thought he looked like he was making good progress.

It wasn't his pass coverage, because Rodgers had his way with our defense as you mentioned... it was his tackling. He was all over the field making plays in that respect and he also was the guy who laid out Matt Flynn the first time, which was a great hit. Matt Flynn is a tough S.O.B. and he completed the pass.

Shipley has really looked impressive lately, nice to see him and Quan Cosby on the same team again though. But throw Shipley in the slot with TO and Ocho and I really like that passing offense. I still feel that a team who runs more spread should have picked him up because you would be able to utilize his abilities alot better but he's gonna be very good none the less.

I wanted to make sweet man love to the guy when he was at ND and during the pre-draft process. I seriously don't know what went wrong with the guy.
What went wrong? Phil Savage touched him & everything he touched turned to ****.
Browns fans were soon saying QUINN = TIM COUCH 2.0. When you draft a guy only b/c it's his hometown sometimes it goes horribly wrong. And he gets run out of his hometown in shame.

With TO and Ocho secured as the starters and then guys like Shipley, Caldwell in the slot and maybe Cosby or Simpson catching on , not to mention Gresham, it really makes me wonder where Antonio Bryant fits into this all especially since the Bengals still will be giving a heavy dose of Benson. I think he's far too talented of a big wideout to be relegated to 5-10 meaningful snaps a game and only a couple targets a game. Obviously depth is never a problem and you can't project how TO will do or if some of these young guys struggle, but for a guy set to make 4 years/28 mil you better find a bigger role for him. Obviously it's hindsight now but they did have the option of signing TO even before they ever offered Bryant and were probably better off not spending the money on Bryant and just being happy with Dezmon Briscoe or even Matt Jones as that big body 5th WR. As it stands now no way Bryant earns his paycheck, just not that many balls to go around and the Bengals are still a run first team. He probably won't get anymore than 3-400 yards max this year.
Are the Brady Quinn fanboys finally going to give up on him yet? He doesn't even deserve a backup job, much less a chance at starting.

There may be more than a few NFL teams looking to see who is the odd man out there at WR. Obviously the Bengals are locked into Ocho, T.O. and Shipley so there isnt much available there. Look for Matt Jones to surface somewhere else if he does get cut. Assuming he's straight he's a bad matchup for most DBs in the league.

I'm guessing Bryant's knee is never going to get back to 100%. I get the feeling he's going to go down the route of one of those players that will get released, try out for another team, and eventually just fade away into retirement after not getting any work. I'd be very surprised if he makes an impact at all this season.

Nate Davis didn't look all that bad. He throws a nice ball, makes progressions, can throw on the run, and has some wiggle to him.
He has trouble in the pocket though bc he's short. I noticed he needs to roll out a lot. I'm curious to see him play against better competition.
Alex Smith sucked pretty hard out there.

Agreed, Carr looked very good here in New York and just how many chances are they going to give Alex Smith? Personally, I think he's on a short leash. If the 49er offense struggles at the start of the season, I think we'll see Carr.

He looked rattled when they blitzed him though. I think he came back one year too early. He needed another year in our program before he was ready to go back out there.
I think Nate Davis should get more reps with the 2s, and see what he's capable of. He looked sharp.
I think ultimately, teams like the 49ers and Cardinals will be kicking themselves for not going after McNabb.

Sam Bradford was trashed in the pre-season and hit all over the place. But go ahead STL, ruin this guys career before it even get's started even though he's looking promising. That offensive line is on it's way but it isn't ready, no TE, no #1 WR, Bradford hasn't played a game in a long ass time and I wouldn't feel right about his shoulder taking that type of punishment, let alone ruining his mechanics.
I don't get why teams want to throw their rookie QB out their so fast and get him beaten up. Your gonna win less then 4 games, is it really that crucial to get him hit for 16 games? Play him in December to get some game experience and call it a day.
Then again I would have traded for Vick and got some vets on both sides of the ball and really took my time with Bradford. Vick looked awesome in his opener and his athleticism would do well on a team with poor blocking and a lack of play-makers.

But yeah, I think its stupid throwing Bradford into the fire. I like Bradford, I think he'll be a good qb in this league if he is developed properly, but St. Louis looks poised to ruining him.

The Seahawks really have nothing to hang their hat on, except maybe LB. At least SF should have a great defense and run game. Plus Crabtree and Davis have explosive potential to do damage in spite of being limited by their QB.

He is done. I think 3,000 yards is the max for him, if he stays healthy that is. I think the Bengals regress back to their talent level. They overachieved last year in a large way. I see them as a 6-10 team.

The Bengals are actually a pretty talented team, they have talent across the board, except for qb.
The defense is great, and they have weapons and a good oline. That dline has potential to be beastly. Peko is an underrated NT, I think Geno Atkins is a steal (I loved Geno coming out), and Michael Johnson is realizing his potential. If Odom can stay healthy, and if Johnson continues to grow and if Dunlap can follow Johnson's footsteps, thats a hell of a dline.
Johnson, Odom, Dunlap and Geno as a nickel front? That could be scary.
Great set of CBs, a great LB core, and Mike Zimmer running the show. That's a damn good defense. Offensively, I love Gresham, Chad still has a year or two left in the tank as does TO, Benson and Scott make a solid RB duo, and a good oline.
They just don't have a qb.

I hate that the Colts have Tom Brandstater because I hate the Colts and always want them to have a ****** backup behind Manning. I was really dissappointed that the Broncos cut him loose. He looked like he would be the starter for the Broncos by 2011, and grew a lot under McDaniels. Hopefully the Colts hold his Belichick pedigree (Pat Hill, Josh McDaniels) against him and keep on rolling with Curtis Painter!

Outside of qb? Yes.
Baltimore's secondary is very suspect, and they don't really have an elite pass rusher either. Their weapons are exaggerated as well. No TE, Mason is incredible for his age but it has to catch up to him sooner or later right? Q is nice, but is bound to get hurt.
Pittsburgh's oline is questionable, and now they don't have a true #1 wr anymore. I love Mike Wallace, but he's not ready to replace Santonio just yet.
I agree that they overachieved last year, and initially i had them pegged as a team that suffers a bad season this year, but they made a lot of strides in personnel compared to last year.
Michael Johnson took a big step forward, they got Gresham and Geno who will both bring immediate impact from the draft, and if Dunlap wakes up maybe he can bring something to the table too.
Plus while I dislike TO, I think he still has more in the tank then people think.
They just don't have a qb. That will bite them in the ass.

I think they are really getting underrated on this board. Their defense was better then the Ravens and Steelers last year, and they did nothing but draft impact players to it this draft(considering they probably had the best draft in the division), as well as guys like Michael Johnson and Odom are back and ready to contribute this year.
Super deep at WR, with guys tailor made to play slot, an elite pass catching TE potentially, Bernard Scott looks explosive as hell and much more then a scat back. Cincy is super talented, and they really don't get alot of respect and most people seem to think they lucked their way into a division crown but their gonna repeat. They are better and more talented then Pitt and Baltimore right now, it's close with Baltimore and while I have Carson as the 3rd best QB in the division because his arm is done if they run a solid 2 back system with great defense, and make key throws at the right times in the game they will be fine.

And Reed's injuries have caught up, & Ray Lewis is about 45 yrs old, & they can't protect Flacco, & their best defensive rookie cracked his skull falling down stairs before camp, & this team gets better as the season progresses & outplays everybody in December. Go figure.
If anyone can benefit from the Roethlisbergerless Steelers in September it will be them. B-more has them in Pittsburgh on 10/3, & play @ NYJ, @ Cincy, then Cleveland at home before that, the Ravens could be 2-1 easily going into that game. The Steelers have Atlanta at home, @ Tennessee, then @ Tampa Bay & might be 1-2 by the Ravens game.
Cincy's schedule too is much harder than last season, & they have 2 former superstar WRs in what s/b their retirement yrs. although a formidable defense, but I don't think they'll repeat as division winners.
The Ravens will have to ride Flacco's arm as far as it will take them

Typical out of order priorities from the ESPN booth crew. After Eli left for the locker room his injury was treated like a 30-lb. turd in the punchbowl at the reception that must never be mentioned.
Biggest story of the game was Eli getting jacked up & leaving the field after a brutal facial laceration. Aside from 2 brief reviews the tape of the play went unshown & the extent of his injury was not discussed, both at the end of halftime. And no mention made of how coaches hate risking their multi-million-$ superstar starters in preseason games.
Story given in detail the next morning:
http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5469375
They must think Eli is an NFL godling who must never be shown in a negative light (i.e, bleeding like a stuck pig) on camera, or that the fanbase of both NY teams is more interested in the Jets keeping their A Team in the game through the end of the 1st half to "make a statement" & win the game as a 1st in the new stadium..... huh? Remember the starting Giants QB in the locker room getting freaking stitches? Hellll-oooo. I only saw that play from behind (sideline camera probably) with his helmet coming off, never saw what he ran into & wanted to know wth actually happened. I received more news about it from posters on this thread than from ESPN.
They will say they're taking the high road & not emphasize Eli's injury, but if it was any Joe Blow 3rd stringer bleeding like that they would be all over it -- the rule of TV sports journalism is If it bleeds, it leads, here it was literally bleeding. Not that this is anything close to journalism.
I think ESPN likes to cherrypick its controversies to hype out of all proportion & customize for their audience. Why did they give these bozos MNF at all?

I thought it was pretty ridiculous of Rex to throw the kitchen sink at the Giants during the 1st preseason game, and on top of that, keep his starters in the whole 1st half.
He treated it like a regular season game. I don't get what he was trying to accomplish. If he felt his team needed to win the game to make a statement, then play them the whole game, and look like a bigger jackass in the process.
We didn't really get a great gauge of the Giants starting offense bc of injuries to key players and the Jets coming out and throwing regular season packages against a vanilla offense.
I love Rex (although I think the attention is starting to get to his head), but he was being a jackass yesterday.

what was there to report? He got a cut? He took a big hit and cut his head on someone. It's really not that huge a story. he didn't get a concussion or anything. and risking Eli? It was his third and final series EARLY in the 2nd quarter. I'm really not sure where you're going with this

Yeah, he could have gotten his guys hurt out there. Especially if the Giants were looking for retaliation on Sanchez. It just wasn't smart on his part.
I can't help but think that his bravado, his constant stroking of his players' egos, and all the distractions he put on his team will bite him hard in the butt this year.
He was bold last year, but he took it up like 20 notches this year. He's just asking for it. He's one hell of a coach though, i absolutely love his schemes. I just wish he was smarter with his actions/words.

It seemed like they went out of their way to talk about anything but the Eli injury.
They have 3 guys in the booth & at least one is supposed to provide commentary. No comment on the Eli injury, noticeable by its absence. Like a lot of viewers I wanted to hear more about it, see a replay or 2 at least but that didnt happen until the end of halftime.
So we only see it on the website? How about the millions watching the actual game? An update? Is that too much to ask?
Like I said, ESPN broadcasting ain't journalism in any way, shape or form.
