I can't find many things that I disagree with in your positional rankings, but having Ingram as your #1 overall prospect is a bit much for me.

Ingram is a very good back, but very good running backs don't get drafted at the very top of the draft. You have to have CJ or AP level game chaning ability to do that. I think he'll be a late first rounder when all is said and done because there's no real spectacular part to his game and he's going to lose carries this season, and his team isn't going to be able to afford to run quite as much as their defense isn't going to be as stellar losing so many of their key players.

Crick is also really freaking high.

And Adam Weber is a lot worse than you are giving him credit for.

I'm a bit perplexed about your Michigan rankings.

Stephen Schilling as the 28th-best offensive tackle when he's a guard? David Molk not in your top centers list? Mike Martin not in your top DTs list?

Jonas Mouton is rated way too highly. Obi Ezeh is ******* atrocious. If he's the eighth-best ILB this year, there are problems.

This being the preseason, alot of this is a projection or anticipation of what I expect. I expect Jared Crick to blow up. In a couple months you may find yourself questioning those who don't have Crick in the top 10.

Scroll up to see my explanation on Ingram.

What's wrong with Julio Jones being that high? I see him as an elite (Somewhat raw) receiver. He struggled early on last year with some injuries, but I expect a huge year from him.

I have Heyward 20th and Hightower 47th, so I have them both fairly high. Heyward to me isn't an elite enough pass rusher to garner a ranking much higher. I love him as a player, but I realize he's likely either a left DE, 3-4 DE, or undersized NT in the mold of Justin Tuck. He's not an elite edge rusher who belongs in the top 10.

Hightower has some things to prove after missing most of last season.

These are NFL draft rankings, so there will be some players listed outside of their actual college position. Schilling will be a RT in the NFL.

I find it funny when people get bent out of shape when players from their favorite team are ommited. The season hasn't started yet, and I know there are more than 425 pro prospects out there...so there's more than just your Wolverines missing.

I know Ezeh was in the dog house last year, what's his deal? He looked like a promising LB prospect at one time. Are you certain he's not going to have a good year? BTW, I have Ezeh 255th overall.

Why? Schilling tried playing RT for two seasons at Michigan. We will refer to this era as "The Vernon Gholston Jailsexing". It didn't work out. He's not a tackle at all.

I find it funny when people get bent out of shape when players from their favorite team are ommited. The season hasn't started yet, and I know there are more than 425 pro prospects out there...so there's more than just your Wolverines missing.

I'm aware. Those are just the guys I look for first. It wasn't meant to attack your work. The "Holy **** nuggets" comment was more to compliment your effort than anything else. I just found it a tad weird that you listed some terrible players but omitted UM's three best prospects.

I know Ezeh was in the dog house last year, what's his deal? He looked like a promising LB prospect at one time.

He's just not good. His biggest problem is that he's very slow to react to plays and can't shed blocks at all. He'd be a better fit as a SLB where he could just flow downhill without thinking much. His pass drops are bad, his coverage awareness is worse, and his tackling might take the cake.

Are you certain he's not going to have a good year?

98 percent sure. He was replaced by a 205-pound walk-on last season, so things don't look good. I would love to see it happen, but reports out of both spring and fall practice weren't good. We'll see how much he's improved right away, as his block-shedding will be on display against run-oriented UConn and his pass awareness will be on display against pass-pass-pass-pass Notre Dame.

I haven't really heard of any complaints about Ezeh's work ethic and attitude. I do know that he had a fairly severe back injury which hindered his play a bit, but no injury that you can play with hinders you that much.

More so than stiff, Floyd looks a little slow. Is he Dwayne Jarrett, or Larry Fitzgerald?

There has been talk of Baldwin being a TE... He's 6-5, and atleast 225, but probably closer to 240. He's bigger, and not as fast as Dorin Dickerson who nobody felt was a receiver.

How is David Gilreath ranked ahead of these select WRs and 16th overall???

17. DeAndre Brown, 6-6, 230, Southern Mississippi*
21. Titus Young, 6-0, 170, Boise State
23. Cecil Shorts III, 6-0, 190, Mount Union
32. Derrell Johnson-Koulianos, 6-0, 200, Iowa
34. Niles Paul, 6-1, 220, Nebraska
35. Ronald Johnson, 5-11, 190, Southern California
44. Vincent Brown, 6-0, 180, San Diego State
57. Jerrel Jernigan, 5-9, 185, Troy

Gilreath will be lucky to make the NFL as a special teamer and outside of screens and reverses he's not much of a threat on offense and doesn't have an ideal skillset to play wideout.

First of all, thanks for doing this. You've obviously put a lot of work and thought into these rankings, so +rep for that.

I might be a bit higher on Greg McElroy than most, so obviously I think #25 i waaaay too low for him. As last season progressed he became better and more confident and if you watch the SEC Title Game against Florida he was just terrific. He's the kind of QB you pick up in round 3-5 and have him sit and learn for a year or two and when you play him your offense hardly miss a beat. I think he'll end up as a starter in NFL. Also, Pat Devlin should be higher on your list imo.

The homer in me thinks that you've underrated Miami CBs Brandon Harris and DeMarcus Van Dyke. Harris' talent is obvious and to me he's the fourth best CB in this class at this point. Van Dyke is a physical freak who makes plays, and they tend to go a bit high. He plays both receiver and CB for Miami, but I really like him at CB.

As for Crick having to potential to be better than Suh, sure.. Will he ever be? No ******* way.

Totally agree with this... and plus rep to the OP for the thread.

I'm also probably a bit higher on McElroy as an NFL QB prospect than most and I've been pounding that drum since last year. It's not going to surprise me one bit when he has a better pro career than Pryor, Jerrod Johnson, etc. and several of the QB's who are "ranked" higher than him. The kid flat out has what it takes to make in the league as a top backup if nothing else and play for many years.

Also to the OP, how can Ben Chappell not even be on the list? That's a HUGE omission in my opinion.

He's one of those rare tweener's among tweener's. If he's still the same player (which would garner a much higher ranking) I could see 3-4 teams having mixed reviews on him. I probably could list him as both.

I appreciate all the work you've done this time of year but you really shouldn't let others influence your board too much. It's early enough where your opinions on most players are not going to be all too refined & certainly not final; still, why make rankings that stretch to players you may know very little/nothing about? It's good to keep your eyes on a wide range of prospects and I think you've put together a hell of a watch-list here for 2010 College Football season.

I think people have done a good job in this thread, pitching players from their teams & simply increasing our lists of players to watch in the upcoming season. It'll be an interesting reference point for me to come back & catch a couple names. I usually focus on draft-eligible players as much as possible during the season so it makes it tough for me to compile huge lists of players to watch before the start of their junior/senior seasons. I really only have an educated opinion on some of the top players at their position. Thank you for the effort & time you put in though. +rep to you

I was featured on his site last season for a bit of exposure and simply to share my work. Not the rankings I'd copy though, I believe he finished with Tony Pike as his #1 Quarterback & Mardy Gilyard as his top receiver last year.

Now that I think about it, I believe Day One Pick was present over there at his site so he is, indeed, passing darnik's work off as his own.

Doesn't always go against it either. He's just been around can recognise things others can't. Things like why Hines Ward will be in the Hall of Fame.

hey darnik lol.....thats proof right there, we been going back and forth on this for 2 weeks with ward

i do like alot of your write ups, assuming that you are darnik now. sometimes the player rankings are headscratchers to me, but i like the reports you write alot of the time

Not too bright are you? Ironic name you have there.

How exactly would I be "not too bright?" The only reason I commented on the two lists was because I suspected I saw blatant plagiarism. Two different user names, two different location cities...same list...and the only response you've given in both threads was that I'm "not very bright"?

Also, my choice of user name would be coincidental (if in fact I actually were lacking in intelligence), not irony...the only irony here, would be you attempting to call me out for a lack of intellect, while exhibiting a firm lack of it yourself.

As I stated in the other thread, I have no desire to play detective...and the "rankings" are bad enough that I never would have commented otherwise... Congrats on being the weird guy who says he's leaving a message board only to return under a different name...

and who the hell writes this about themselves...

Creepy.

By the way, way to misspell "recognize" there...and you say I'm not "bright" ? Lmao...

Headscratchers until those players have been in the league for 2 or 3 years. I got blasted here for ranking Darrelle Revis as my top CB and saying he would be an elite player some day. Blasted for saying Everette Brown wasn't a first round talent. Blasted for ranking LaMarr Woodley in the top 15. Blasted for saying Steve Breaston was a top 50 prospect, and a lot of other "off the wall" things.

Keep in mind, true "rankings" reflect one's feeling on a players value and their expectations at the next level, not based on where they will or where they end up being drafted. Mock drafts do that. I know that gets confused around here.

I don't. I wasn't around whenever what happened, happened.

I do know you're the kind of guy who dances around a lot without saying anything specific. You tried to get snippy with me, and had a monumental failure...

I don't know...you seem rather odd (talking about yourself in the third person) and full of yourself (touting yourself constantly), and you never just give a straight answer to anything (it's like you want to come across as pseudo condescending, but manage to just seem really weird)...and I don't really care to further discuss why you left, and then couldn't stay away, and came back under a different name-- or anything else for that matter with people like that. It's just dumb.

I could be wrong, but I imagine there are 2 or 3 more UGA players that belong on a totally accurate ranking of all eligible 2011 prospects. Brandon Boykin, Justin Houston and Cordy Glenn all seem like pretty good prospects to me.

yeah dude but you miss alot too, like all of us. i made it known that i hated revis as a prospect....but you said haden is the next revis too, if he isnt then what?

you can go on and on about the times you were right with unconventional (at the time) opinions that werent very popular, but im sure you could go on longer about times you were wrong. i like your stuff most of the time, not usually the rankings, but usually the mocks and the reports

No, I said Haden is/was the best CB prospect since Revis and I said he has "shut down corner" ability. I'll be saying the same thing about Patrick Peterson this year too because I feel he's better than Haden as a prospect. Pretty much all CB's on the planet are at least a notch below Revis, so I doubt I'll be calling anyone "the next Revis."

Also, generally the things I've been wrong about concerning draft prospects are conventional opinions that pretty much everyone else has also been wrong about. Prospects like JaMarcus Russell, Darren McFadden, ect. My big battle last year was my ranking of Mardy Gilyard, and me saying Arrelious Benn will ultimately be better suited as a running back.

People said Tim Tebow wouldn't be drafted in the 1st round too. Notice that I list Pryor as a QB/ATH. There's too much ability of one sort or another to not consider him atleast a top 75 talent. I rank him 65th overall right now.

Just some of my general thoughts on a few players.

Mark Ingram, as much as I like him, simply doesn't have the talent of a #1 prospect. Good player coming into the league with a lot of milage, but he simply doesn't have the game changing ability of a #1 or even top 10 talent. He is similar to Ryan Matthew in a lot of ways. Great balance, great vision, solid burst and tough between-the-tackles runner. Has a good frame, but he just lacks the "wow factor" of an elite prospect. I wasn't even that high on Spiller, but I think I would strongly consider taking him before Ingram. You need that game changing ability to be taken that high for a RB. Spiller has serious concerns over injuries. He may never start more than 10 games in a single season. That's a bit of an issue. If it were to come down to that, then I might take Ingram, but Spiller is a vastly superior talent.

AJ Green is a beast. Very fluid route runner, great size, good hands and solid speed. His size is phenomenal, but I want to see him start maxing that frame out (I noticed it from his freshman season to hi sophomore season and I want to see that physical development continue). He is a top tier WR prospect and I think the best in the '11 draft. I really like him and his ability. One thing you will see from time to time is poor mannerism and body language. He seems to get very upset with his QB (Didn't really happen with Stafford). I'm not saying the guy is TO, but it's just something I don't like seeing. Very, very minor concern, but I don't think it's ever mentioned.

Everyone is talking about Patrick Peterson -- for good reason -- but Aaron Williams is the most intriguing DB prospect for me. I really think this is one of the best players in the draft and he reminds me of Darrelle Revis. I really think his athleticism, quickness, speed, ball skills and pure cover skills are simply unreal. I think he's not only the top CB prospect eligible, but the among the best players overall with Robert Quinn and AJ Green. I have not seen enough of him to be %100 confident, but my expectations are through the roof. I don't know how he is against the run and his tackling in general is a bit of an unknown for me, but his pure natural athleticism and cover skills are very rare.

I think, at the end of the year, Andrew Luck will be the top draft eligible prospect. I don't know if he enters or not, but the guy has all the physical tools you could ask for. Cannon arm, great touch, accuracy and very smart with the football. I like the potential of Jake Locker, but he is still very raw. At this point, Luck has the much higher ceiling, yet he doesn't get the same kind of treatment. I think Luck will be an elite level prospect whereas Locker is more of a mid first round prospect to me. Both have a lot of upside, but I think Luck is further along and more NFL ready. Locker is a work in progress and we'll see how much he continues to improve in that pro style offense.

Da'Quan Bowers is an underachieving version of Tyson Jackson. Bowers is nowhere close to a first round prospect at this point and will be best suited kicking inside since he does not have the pass rushing ability to get to the QB from a traditional 43 front. Jackson was a mid first round caliber player (at best), Bowers has been a less successful version of that. Lot of hype, just not much to show for it.

Don'ta Hightower is a beast. One of the best LB prospects that will enter from the last several years. He's very much in that Jerod Mayo, Keith Rivers, Rolando McClain class (and I think he is even better than former teammate McClaine). I think he's a future top 10 pick. Incredibly physical and great instincts. I think he's going to be a sure thing.

I'm also just going to mention Da'Rel Scott. I love his game. He is the only reason to watch Maryland and their boring offense.

I'm about as good of a prospect as your #150 overall Kirk Decremer. He retired a couple years ago (unfortunately) due to back problems. If he was still in the fold the Badgers' pass rush the last couple years would have been unbelievable. It's still been quite good thanks to Schofield, Borland, Watt, Nzegwu, and Gilbert.

Speaking of Borland, he supplied the real life version of the play made by the mascot in Wicket's avatar in high school, only he didn't require any artificial booster. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHWNnQ7Hmos
It will be interesting to see how he projects to the pros. He's short as s*** but he's still remained athletic subsequent to the added weight and he's ubiquitous on the field. Won Big Ten frosh of the Year and followed it up with a player of the game performance against the Runnin' Rebels.

Where can one find these totally accurate ranking's of all eligible 2011 prospects?

Don't take it personally just because I doubt your rankings are without flaw. It would be pretty hard to put together a perfect ranking of prospects.

Just fyi Day One Pick, Broderick Binns DE from Iowa is a Junior.

I'm guessing you just forgot to mark him with a *.

And 2 things. Don't be surprised to see Iowa Senior TE Allen Reisner on a list of possible prospects. Iowa's last 8 straight starting TEs (over 10 years I think) have been drafted. Some really late, but drafted none the less, and Reisner is pretty solid all around and should have a typical Iowa TE season.

Also, I had no idea we had a legit prospect at LOS. That's pretty awesome and I'm pretty psyched about it.

Decent list, however posting the entire thing I do not see much need for it. I have a 17 page word document for freshman through seniors, but to put that up is a little much, especially since you seem to include players that will most likely not declare for the NFL draft. Much less trying to stick to players one is familiar with completely, because anyone can throw together a list of players based on how many are out there on the net now a days.

A few things though.

Owen Marecic is that low on your full back list? Why? He is by far the best run blocking full back I saw last year, and sure might not be able to catch the ball but seriously there was only one Larry Centers. Sure Clay might be that type of full back or Havili but seriously in terms of run blocking Marecic is by far at the time. And speaking of underclassmen I would take Devon Ramsey any day over many players on that list as well.

What exactly makes Nick Toon the #8 receiver prospect in this years up coming draft?

What exactly makes freaking Blake Ayles the #8 tight end prospect, the kid barely even plays much less starts and has been a massive disappointment on USC so far.

How is Zach Hurd your #22 guard, the kid is huge, very good athlete and can block well down field. I do not see how he is that low, played great against a solid Michigan front this weekend.

How is James Wilson your #4 guard, I was not very impressed with that kid at all this weekend. Sure might develop but I am not sure he has that kind of top end talent.

Why are JJ Wyatt and Broderick Binns so low, especially Wyatt, that kid played great last year and has great size for a defensive end or even a pass rushing tackle potentially.

How is Mike Martin #22 as a tackle, I said before I would take him over Marvin Austin and his troubles any day of the week. Martin is going to be a really fine player at the next level.

Marcell Dareus that low? Really that kid is flat out elite and is one of the most dominating defensive lineman in college. He is a monster and possible top 15 selection in time I feel.

How is Greg Lloyd ahead of Lawrence Wilson at outside linebacker? Maybe if you are talking a 3/4 defense but in a standard 4/3 defense it is up to debate if Lloyd could even play outside linebacker, not sure he has the speed to do it.

Chris Galippo that high at linebacker? Are you kidding me? The kid does not even start anymore and Kenard is by far the more talented inside backer. He has been a massive disappointment at USC so far. How in the world is he that high?

Inside linebackers in general I feel a lot of them are questionable if they can even play that position at all.

Janoris Jenkins I believe is much to low on your list, how he played this weekend showed he took the next step and should follow in the footsteps on Joe Haden and become a more aggressive player and stronger tackler at corner.

Will Hill over McDaniel at safety I really question, especially after the monster season McDaniel had last year.

Barndon Taylor at safety? Really after LSU got rocked by backups against UNC. That defensive backfield as a hole was a joke, they did not play well at all in that game. Sure Peterson but outside of him they got a lot of work to do.

Ingram being the #1 overall prospect I really question. I think people are taking this Ingram is Emmitt Smith thing too literally. I love him as a player but #1, especially it today's NFL is just simply not going to happen at all. No one would pick a running back over a franchise quarterback ever in the draft this day and age.

Clearly only brought up issues I saw, but nice indepth list. Would love to talk about some of those players if you have indeed seen them all though.

Rankings seem to be derived from rivals ratings.

I updated all my rankings. Not much changed too significantly. Christian Ponder fell quite a bit.

I'm not sure how to react when I agree with you.

Did you put all eligible sophomores into these rankings? Just wondering because I didn't see LaMichael James ranked.

Don't take this the wrong way, cause I'm sure it took a long time to order, but it looked fairly regurgitated. Nothing really stood out in the rankings versus the general consensus. I like seeing guys put their own insight into things that make it seem like they're not just spewing what's already out there.

But I definitely like seeing Ingram as your #1 rated prospect.

Yeah, James reshirted in 2008 (his first year on campus).

I've been working one these rankings since January. I've had rankings for the 2011 draft posted around the internet since last February, so maybe my rankings are what's being regurgitated. I also don't know many places where you'll find seniors, junior, and red-shirt sophomores ranked side by side.

Thanks for the comment though.

I added James 6th among RB's, and 54th overall.

Can only speak about the guys that I see. I'm a PSU fan/alum. Jack Crawford has been downright horrible this year. Got benched against Temple for a redshirt frosh. Can't set the edge on run plays. Not getting a pass rush. He better come back for his redshirt 5th year. I wouldn't give you an order of fish and chips for the Englishman. Wisniewski is the best pro-prospect on the team. Late 2nd or 3rd my guess. He's a better prospect than Ohrnberger. And, he went in the 4th round. Royster had his best game Sat. We'll see how he does in the Big 10. Just doesn't seem to have enough speed. He is a good blocker and pass catcher. May find a niche as a 3rd down back. Freshman qb not connecting with wideouts yet. To be expected. Not sure if that's their fault, qb's fault, or staff for not trusting qb. Moye can come back for a 5th year and probably should. The other surprise is Brett Brackett. H-Back. Big target. And Bolden seems to look to him a lot. Put 15-20 lbs on him and you might have something there. Great kid. Enrolled as a qb but switched to TE.
