No, the Wii is better.
I base this on the fact that I am Nintendo biased and despise the PS3 with all of my soul.
So clearly, I'm right.
I hate you and every thread you start

Wii's are garbage. Is it to hard to make a real damn controller? I don't want to be playing Madden with a dildo in my hand.

What does it matter if I just joined or not. If I want to say something i'll say it. Don't act like having more posts makes you better than people without too many posts.
And if post count matters, i'll bring back my 3000 posts on my other account and shut you down because you only have a mere 1000.

All Nintendo games are like that. How do you play Super Smash Bros. or Mario Party alone?

Yes we really do. You know, I wouldn't mind if he made a thread about PS3 discussion but it just the way that he uses his opening reply and how stupid he make the topic sound. It really get's on my nerves and makes me believe i'm responding too an 8 year old. He basically does this in every thread that he makes and that is why he is hated.
He has earned the reputation he has.

Why is it that only newbies and GRF start new threads? It's a fascinating little statistic.

I wanted a PS3 when I first heard about it.. Not so much now. $600 is crazy and there isn't anything out for it that I want. Maybe when GTA4 comes out i'll give it a purchase.. but I don't know.
All signs point to the Wii being my first Next Gen system.

And the Wii is a very good system. That "dildo" comment was one of the most ignorant comments of the day.

thing is, its really crazy to spend an extra 300 bucks because you get the same, if not better with the 360 for 300, which is one paycheck you got it, ps3 still has problems as do all systems with first shipments, UNLESS you are an avid sony player, and play alot of releases that are exclusively playstation like god of war, but gta is both systems, all sports games, and you could argue the 360 looks better, now i have heard as far as online compatibility, the 360 is runnin shyt, cause its microsoft, so they have online on lock, its easier, runs smoother with no problems, and its simple to get updates and updated rosters etc....
i always liked the xbox more anyway, personally i play madden more then anything, with other games sprinkled in, so the 360 is for me....i love to play online, graphics on xbox were better then ps2, and its so cheaper, i dont get caught up with what came out later and whats newer, hell for damn near the same game system ones 300$ cheaper ill take that one, i dont care if they call it retendo

Exactly, it's pretty much at the same stage where the 360 was at this time last year. Everyone was saying that there weren't enough games. Well the games are coming and the PS3 will be just fine.

I turned in a used PS2 and got the PS3 for only $450, I'll tell you Madden '07 blows goats, but the rest of the few games they have(MotorStorm and NHL2K7 are 2 that I have) are great. I have also downloaded some demos which is pretty sweet, but like a previous poster said, there is not many games available yet, so don't go out of your way to get one.

However, don't let my previous comment fool anyone, I'm a XBox guy this generation. However, seeing as I believe the purchase should be based on the games you like, I see no reason to not buy the PS3 if you like the games that much more, and have the money.

Even if I had the money for either one, I would choose the 360 for a number of reasons, games being the largest. However, I understand that game preference is objective.

Problem with that statement, is that they really aren't $300 apart. The standard XBox 360 is $299.99 and it's $499.99 for the standard PS3. Sure, the 60 GB PS3 is $599.99 but it's $399.99 for the 20 GB XBox 360. Money-wise, the PS3 is arguably worth it. It comes included with a Blue-ray player which can cost $1,000 or more when sold seperately. Also, PS3 offers free online play right now where is it around $50 a year for the 360. So you're basically getting a 360 and four years of online play for the same price of a PS3 and four years of online play. I can understand why someone would want an XBox 360 more than a PS3, but I really don't think the 360 is a much better deal in the long run.

I love Nintendo games, and the only games I play outside of Nintendo games is Madden.
So I have a Wii, and when the price comes down, will probably buy a PS3. Until then, I'll just buy Madden for my PS2.
Im not chucking out 600 for one game, thats ridiculous. And Im waiting for PS3 over Xbox because I plan on using the PS3 as a blueray DVD player as well.

a) Just because a BluRay player costs $1000 does not necissarily make it "worth" that amount of money. Anyone who went out and bought a BluRay player today for $1000 is a complete idiot, because there is a decent chance it isn't even supported in 3 or 4 years.
b) Yes, PSO is free, but it misses on a lot of things that XBox Live has. Universal friends list, Live Anywhere, Private Chat to other games, messaging from my computer to anyone on a 360 (I can also see who is playing 360 while I'm on my computer, so If my buddy starts playing and I see he has signed on, I can just jump in) amount of online games (Developers don't have to pay money for servers, so more 360 games will be online enabled. For the PS3, support will be dropped for some games if the developer decides they no longer want to pay for the server. For the 360, if I buy a game, I know I can play it online again in 3 years if I want to.)
That's just stuff off the top of my head, and that already seems worth the less than $5 a month it costs.

the ps3 is also a blu-ray player. those suckers sold separately are 600-1000 bucks. i haven't thrown down for one yet, but after I get my dslr paid for, I'm probably gonna bite the bullet.
also, if the price of games freaks anyone out, gamefly.com lets you rent them for a monthly fee sorta like netflix. so you can get three games a month, finish them, and send them back in for like 20 bucks instead of spending 60 a piece and then trading them in for 10 dollars. I hate how gaming stores rip you off on pre-played games. I took 10 games in once about two years ago and got less than 10 dollars in credit. friggin pissed me off but that's beside the point.

Blue Ray movie's are actually VERY good. They have amazing clarity and color, it's just completly different on how you watch the movie. I watched Casino Royale last night on blue ray and it was amaizng, MI:3 was amazing also. They are more expensive to rent though. But lately all the good movie's have been available on Blue Ray.

I'm not disputing the quality (although most people say that as of now HD DVD looks better... I won't be buying an HD DVD player yet, either), I'm just saying right now buying either for a large sum of money is a bad investment. See: Betamax. See: UMD.
Does anyone know much about the HD-DVD player for the 360? I was interested in buying it when I went to buy a big screen TV but someone that worked there said they still had bugs in them. Does anyone have one? Inform me.
ncst8fan83

they actually have a booth at the local circuit city that plays a movie half regular dvd and half blu-ray. it's amazing the clarity difference as far as color and brightness are concerned. Blu-ray on a regular tv is like feeding your cat fillet mignon. It is a developing technology though, and i would be wary of throwing too much money into the market right this second. BUT, the ability to play Blu-ray dvd's is nonetheless an added benefit to a PS3.
The thing that has worried me about PS3 is what happens if Blu Ray never picks up, than what?

As I've said about the BlueRay player, I'd hold off buying it for now.
Soon they will be much cheaper, and you will be able to feel a lot more secure that your purchase will have continued support. The chances are high that only one of the two players will really get continued support, and you don't want to be on the wrong side.
I'd just stick it out with DVD for another year or so, unless you've got a lot of cash. Once again, see betamax.

I own a PS3 and I love it. But like someone said earlier, you need an HDTV to notice the true power of it.
I also own a 360, which is nice and cheap, but look at it this way. If you were to buy all the things the PS3 has for the 360, it would cost more than the ps3.
I used to have a wii, but I brought that back within two weeks cause I hated it.

It plays DVD's also. And I'm not sure if it plays HD-DVD's but it might and if it does then it's a win/win. Because those two are competing for the next level in movie viewing. But really did anyone buy a PS3 just for blue rays.
Also it would be very pointless for someone to buy a Blue Ray player, when they could get a PS3, 20 or 60 GB's for a lower price. And you get the gaming, it might be a little harder to set up and use but it's worth it.
And like said above I'd wait if you just want to buy a blue-ray player.

A few things.
The PS3 most definitely does not support HD DVD, and if you don't know that... well, you have no idea at all about what you're talking about when it comes to BluRay and HDDVD. The PS3 playing HDDVD would be like the PS3 playing xbox games. HDDVD and BluRay are two competing media.
As for buying a BluRay player seperate from the PS3, it wouldn't be that pointless. The PS3 carries the worst possible BluRay player. The cheapest BluRay player you could buy would be better than the PS3 player... so, assuming BluRay wins the "war", then I'd much rather have a BluRay player than what comes standard with the PS3.
