I LOVE these things.

I'm so pissed over the Titans cutting LeGarrette Blount. I thought he had a great preseason, and showed so many flashes of upside it had me drooling. But nooooo... We had to keep freakin' Nick Schommer and add a couple of ST's linebackers. Ugh... He landed on the Bucs though, so hopefully they drop him and the Titans can pick him back up for the sole reason of mekkin me happy.

Either way, I think he's leaning more towards boom than bust.

UDFA had to be Junior Gallette ;)

Did you consider Jahvid Best at 24?

"I also gave strong consideration to Limas Sweed here..."

Not really. I like Best a lot but had Dez Bryant rated MUCH higher.

The next man up would've been Bryan Bulaga.

Ha, that's why I always put up my old picks. Gotta be accountable!

At least I ultimately made the right decision. :)

Interesting that 4 of your dream picks didn't make final rosters this season, whether it be to injury or cuts.

I would have went -

1st Round - Dez Bryant, WR Oklahoma State

It's still mind blowing how he fell to where he did. He was absolutely one of the top players in the draft. These 'character concerns' are either blown out of the water or overlooked completely.

2nd Round - Taylor Mays, S Southern California

I can be quoted on not being high on Taylor Mays but that was back when he was being talked about as a Top 15 pick. I will take his blend of size and athleticism every time in the middle of the second. Not to mention I wasn't very high on the later portion of the second round. Golden Tate was the only other I considered and with Dez in the first, it doesn't make sense. Terrence Cody? Carlos Dunlap? Not for me.

3rd Round - Donald Butler, LB Washington

A versatile linebacker who grew up in front of Huskies' fans' eyes. A lot of buzz came around Butler as the season got older and older. Aggressive LB project with upside. I understand he's likely out for the year but it was another round littered with WRs.

4th Round - Akwasi Owsu-Ansah, CB Indiana (PA)

5th Round - John Skelton, QB Skelton

6th Round - Jonathan Dwyer, RB Georgia Tech

7th Round - Syd'Quan Thompson, CB California

UDFA - Stafon Johnson, RB USC

Understandably, you had to stick to your rankings when going into this as evidenced with the Bryant and Clausen picks but when I have nothing to be compared to except a couple posts on a message board, it makes it a little easier.

Man, this guy was impressive in the pre-season.

one of the quickest first steps in football. The saints staff is awesome in getting great UDFA players

Props for speaking the truth on Dez Bryant. He's got the upside to be in the discussion for top WR in the league...I think he's Andre Johnson 2.0.

I'd go:

Bryant
Terrence Cody
Jared Veldheer
Thaddeus Gibson
Kendrick Lewis
Greg Hardy
Matt Dodge

UDFA: Boo Robinson

Sucks that it turns out the Vince Oghobaase didn't make this list. Injuries suck.

My Dream Draft (Little late for this, but still good fun):

Round 1 - Brandon Graham, DE, Michigan - Pick 13

Round 2 - Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame - Pick 60

Round 3 - Navorro Bowman, LB, Penn State - Pick 91

Round 4 - Mike Williams, WR, Syracuse - Pick 101

Round 5 - Reshad Jones, S, Georgia - Pick 163

Round 7 - Dexter Davis, DE, Arizona State - Pick 236

I had to trade up and give up my 6th rounder.

I had Graham 4th overall, Tate 10th overall, Bowman & Williams with late first round grades and Jones with a second round grade. I always liked Davis and had a 4th round grade. Thought he might be able to develop into a solid contributor / pass rush specialist.

a bunch of those guys got cut. Holliday, Blount, Capers, and I think Schofield (or maybe just IR for him, idr). I think you could do better than a bunch of cut/practice squad players.

With the Cowboys current offensive line situation, I wonder if they would have been better off getting the guy picked right before Bryant: Bryan Bulaga. Or maybe just taking Saffold with that pick. I know Dez Bryant looks like a good pick on paper, but their o-line situation sounds bad.

Hey Scott, if you had pick #20 and Bryant and Clausen are both on the board, as they were, do you still take Bryant since he's higher on your board or do you pop Clausen since getting the QB is that much more important?

Say you're the Carolina Panthers, since they had needs at both spots.

Good question.

For the purposes of my "Dream Draft" it was a moot point because since Clausen was actually taken in the second round I couldn't take him in the first. With that said assuming the grades are close, as they were with Bryant (#5) and Clausen (#10), I would go with the quarterback because it's a more important position.
