I figured with the increase in popularity of the term "Man Crush", which I attribute to boe and Shane, I figured it was time for a thread where we could all proclaim our love for our favorite prospects so when they succeed (or fail), there was a place where you could come back and say I told you so. With that in mind, I'm going to proudly proclaim my man crush on UCLA LB Akeem Ayers. I've discussed him at length in some other threads, and I've been critical of the lack of violence in his play and his tendency to play a bit too high for my liking, but overall I think he's going to be a hell of a player and a guy I expect to go in the first round come April. He's big, he's fast, and I absolutely love the way he sets the edge and the versatility he's shown at UCLA. He's a fluid athlete and I can see him succeeding in a variety of roles in the NFL. I particularly like him as a weakside backer in a 4-3, a la Peter Boulware, a guy I've compared him too before. He absolutely beasted this past weekend with 6 tackles, a sack and an interception against Texas.

Best RB in the draft.
-I'm a big fan of runners like Mark Ingram, I like guys who are powerful, efficient, strong willed, north south, play with great vision, well rounded (he can receive), he has wiggle and I think he is a lot more elusive than people think. Basically if I had to take a RB prospect over the past couple years, it would be him. Ingram is kind of like a rich man's Ray Rice or DeAngelo Williams IMO, but with more power.

http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu35/JtWorsley/Prince-Amukamara.jpg
Best CB in the draft (better than Peterson).
-A huge corner who is athletic, strong, great in man coverage, great in zone coverage, super physical, great against the run and is just starting to realize his potential as a press corner. Prince is a future shutdown corner in the NFL, what's not to like?

Edit: Obviously I develop a liking to a player who I see at a potential position of need for the Titans. Anyways with Carter, love the speed I've seen from him, seems to always be around the ball. I saw that great, athletic catch he made against Rutgers this past week and its not a play you typically get with a LB.

So far my main man crush is Brett Brackett, WR/TE, Penn State

http://cache.uspresswire.com/image/thumb/250-250/3590836.jpg

As 6'6", 246, Brackett was recruited as a QB but switched over to WR when Devlin beat him out early in his career. Brackett has done everything he's been asked to do for us and he has been the most consistent and best receiver for us this year. He has solid hands, runs good routes, is a great blocker, and is the perfect possession receiver. He was elected as a team captain so he definitely has leadership and he's the holder on field goals.

He'll probably have to move to TE in the NFL and he's played some there for us. He's probably not going to get drafted but I'd be surprised if he doesn't get an invite to someone's camp.

As for someone who is actually going to get taken in the first day, Adrian Clayborn. When I watch Iowa play, he brings the intensity and skillset that makes me reminisce of Tamba Hali's senior season and anyone who reminds me of Tamba brings good feelings along with him, even if he plays for an opposing team.

Mark Herzlich and Julio Jones.

Herzy will be one of the best players to come out of this draft. His skills translate so well to the NFL. Sure-fire future pro-bowler, his name will be remembered. 1st year impact? Not much. But he will end his career with a terrific stat-line and will have made a name for himself.

Juli Jones' stock has fallen since he is in such a run-heavy O. I think he is the best WR in this draft class and will be a huge late-1st, early 2nd steal. Average college player, fantastic pro. He is a top 15 talent who will go between picks 20-40 and put up phenominal #s. Potential OROY.

No. I watched Luck vs ND. He was an average QB in a pro-style offense that once again leaned on his power running game. His arm is probably about average at the NFL level. His numbers are beyond average at the college level. He definitely has solid mechanics, but aside from that, I have not seen a special player.

When I watched Stanford last year I was very impressed with Gerhart. Then all this talk about Luck started happening and I was sort of confused. What? The QB that hands it off to the most impressive runner in college football? That guy? Really?

So I watched him again this year against ND.

Nah. For real. Just aint seein it. And the arm strength isn't that impressive either (not that ultimately it means anything, but I have heard others describe his arm as borderline elite).

In what I've seen of Luck, he has showed that special "it" that few QBs really have. It doesn't show up in stats or measureables, not that his are bad by any stretch, but he seems to be in a zone like few others. Against Wake Forest, he was flawless. Not that they're a great defense, but he did exactly what you want to see him do vs. a weaker team and he just went out and dominated them. Often, you'll see QBs play down to their competition, or lean on the playmakers around them when they crush a weak team. He just....went out and played great.

In terms of physical tools, he reminds me a lot of Eli Manning. Nothing particularly spectacular but at least above average in every category.

He showcased a clearly average arm tonight to go along with some very saavy throws in contrast to some very poor mistakes.

He's young. His offense is NFL caliber and so are his mechanics but he does not have arm strength that is typical of an NFL QB.

The hype at this point is unwarranted.

If you have been watching Jenkins for the past 2 years then you would know that Jenkins was not better than Haden last year. Jenkins however was playing better than Haden his freshmen year.

Jenkins is playing solid football this year also. He took Julio out of the game. Only way the could get Julio involved was with screens.

I just did an extensive search of the site archives, and I can safely say that is the gayest thread in the history of draftcountdown.

Fantastic thread.

HOLY EFFING SHAT!!! I take it back. I was very wrong. Apologies. This is only a mildly, in-the-closet sort of *** thread.

Also, I didn't realize there was an active off-topic. Interesting.

OT is the most active portion of the entire board.

Yeah, I had no idea. I just have hot links to the CFB forum and the main draft forum (this one). Fixing that now :)

He (Luck) showcased a clearly average arm tonight to go along with some very saavy throws in contrast to some very poor mistakes.

He's young. His offense is NFL caliber and so are his mechanics but he does not have arm strength that is typical of an NFL QB.

The hype at this point is unwarranted.

I should probably make a topic about this huh?
