Discuss all week 9 games

Boise State plays La Tech at home tonight. Solid ACC matchup Thursday night with FSU vs NC State. WVU plays UCONN Friday night.

Miami/UVA, Okie State/K State, Purdue/Illinois and Tenn/SCAR are the early games. Sparty/Iowa, Mizzou/Nebraska and Florida/Georgia are the big afternoon games. Auburn/Ole Miss, Stanford/Washington, Oregon/USC, OSU/Minnesota and Michigan/Penn State are the late games.

Oregon at USC, this is probably along with the Quacks playing at OSU in dec. the last time they'll be tested. I dont think the Trojans have the depth on defense to last 4 quarters but if they get a couple of turnovers they could win it.

Stanford at Washington, you get to see the two frontrunners for the top QB spot in Jake Locker and Andrew Luck. The only way this would be fair is if Luck had to wear purple and gold and Locker wears the Cardinal jersey. Nevertheless we can watch both and not have to play with the remote.

This..

No one should sleep on USC in this game, Matt Barkely could have a huge game, and if their defense can force some turnovers then Oregon is in trouble. Oregon has also struggled and not looked as dominant when they are on the road.

USC is clicking on offense and Barkley has been playing as good as any QB in the country right now but they are going to have to keep up with Oregons offense unless their D can pull it together and get 1 or 2 big stops....

....ive said this a couple times....USC does have talent on that D and talent does click every once and a while. We are going to need it to click saturday night haha....

USC is at home & & has an underrated offense that can score quickly, almost as fast as the Quack Attack with less weapons. Kiffin has a history of getting his teams up for big games, he can rah-rah with the best of them.

This is a classic trap game for Oregon but if they win they can run the rest of the table to the NC game as the Pac 10 has no conference championship game yet.

If the Ducks lose there will be a huge clamor in the media about the #1 curse of the top-ranked team going down 4-5 wks in a row.

Locker and the coaching staff say he's healthy enough. Most guys have something this time of the year but he has been tested in recent weeks for Mono, cracked rib and he's had a deep thigh bruise.

It will also be interesting to see how Luck does throwing down the middle against the Husky swiss cheese defense. He'll have a chance to put some of the rumors to rest that he doesnt get zip on deep balls, those throws will be there all day long.

He was clearly slower against Arizona... rarely used his legs and when he did, he was at maybe 50%

And with his sweet blocking, it's not a good situation

They've got two differant starters along the O-line this week, C and RT. Not sure of the number but i'll say the line has probably changed 6 of the 8 weeks this year. My theory is if you move garbage from one side of the house to the other it's still garbage.

I am willing to guarantee an Ole Miss victory, and I am a realistic Ole Miss fan. It is what we do. Disappoint and suck all year then have one big win to make people think we are good for a little bit only to suck again and still keep me waiting for our breakout year. It is a cycle.

i like auburn in this game. first, after the lsu game.. i like this offense vs anyone in the country so thats that. and on defense im loving fairley vs your interior. and even though it was lsu the defense has slowly been improving. i think were going to blitz alot more and try to create some confusion with our DC knowing how good our offense is. so hopefully that creates some turnovers and etc.

Oregon's success certainly coincided with Phil Knight's involvement and who knows how much cash they're paying for that success.

The big story around here is the return of David Decastro, Stanford AA guard who grew up in the shadow of Husky stadium. The QBs they tell me are pretty good too.

We(UVA) needed this kind of performance. We have looked like god-awful the past 4 weeks. We haven't shown up to play a quailty opponent since the USC game. Verica has surprised me. No joke. He's certainly not looking at Ray Rice territory or anything, but Spurrier works him a little too much now and then. Especially when you consider we have a very much improved, Brian Maddox, on the bench. Averaging a cool 6 yards per carry and beasting in his only start of the season. I wouldnt go that far. You follow Ray Rice's college career at all? He had like 380 carries his Junior Year, and 300+ the year before that. Not everyone is so fortunate. And Lattimore isn't playing the Big East. He's also a power back taking everyone's best shot while Ray Rice is more of a quick back and is very short, so he doesn't get pounded on so much.

Not everyone is so fortunate. And Lattimore isn't playing the Big East.

It's not so bad. He's bound to only stay for three years anyway. And he wont hit 300 carries this year. And with Garcia and the receivers all coming back next season, the passing game will still be very prevalent.

I'm not too worried about his pro prospects...he's bound to fill out more over the years and, he really should be just fine.

I'll agree, though...that he doesnt need to see the ball 30 times a game. Why they couldnt throw a couple of those carries Maddox's way, I dont know. But it's not like this is a very consistent workload amount for him.

Stanzi has to understanzi not to throw those INTs.

As for more Alshon Jeffrey...his transfer from the other USC is the single greatest thing to happen to South Carolina football in their history.

Yea, we usually have good college tackles that unfortunately don't translate to the NFL, but they make pretty damn good guards.

It's weird. Coming into 2010, DL was our best/most sure group and OL was our biggest ?. Now, our OL is probably one of our best units, and our DL has looked suspect.

Not quite. Alshon is amazing and is bound to be a top 10 guy...but Marcus' signing was much bigger. SCAR has had elite talents at WR, most recently...one, Sidney Rice...but they've greatly been lacking an elite talent at RB. And to ink arguably the top RB prospect in the country was an immense achievement. And his addition has completely changed the face of the program.

My theory is that the proverbial football gods love Boise State, and will continue to punish the football devil's BCS abomination until it is removed from the physical world.

I'm thinking it might be like "Angels in the Outfield" and that Boise is going to have the path to the championship game cleared for them, but once there, they have to win it on their own accord.

Seeing a bit of a different Nebraska defense today. Team struggled rushing the passer and stopping the run, but not so today. Getting pressure without help from the secondary, and the boys are there to stop the run as well.

But I think it should be well known now - Nebraska has the best secondary in the country, hands down. Today we start two new safeties, and have put in a true freshman to replace Dennard (who got hurt early in the game) and so far we haven't missed a beat. Love those guys.

I agree with this, but the way I see it is that Oregon has a very good chance of finishing undefeated and thus going to the championship game, where either Auburn or 'Bama will meet them I suspect. Both these teams has a defense capable of slowing down the Ducks, but they have to put on a show on offense to keep up with them still I think. At least a punter/kicker tackle means the guy usually had a big return.

When a defender acts all jacked up when making a play after a big gain/play, it's hilarious. My favorite is even better when a guy makes a normal tackle after like a 4 yard run, and goes apeshit. Congrats, guy, you did what you were supposed to!

At this point, probably not, but he will be. He's more athletic, has better measurables, and is much better in pass protection. If he even stays one more year, he will be ridiculous as a prospect.

Also, I'm just warning everyone now, Iowa is going come out on offense in the 2nd half playing more conservative than anyone has ever seen and playing prevent/safe defense. MSU will likely score on their opening drive, but rather than keep doing what is working to destroy MSU, Iowa will completely switch their game plan to play not to lose. Going to the prevent too early is one of the cardinal sins in football imo. The only time you should ever go to, especially if you've really been shutting the other team down by playing aggressive, is very late in the game when they don't have enough time left to work the middle of the field.

That is the ONLY acceptable time. Any other time, and all it "prevents" is you from holding your lead.

**** Nebraska is getting away with everything, numerous missed pass interference calls and Crick just ripped Gabbert's face off on a missed Face mask call.

Great play call there Brian Kelly. You have a great kicker in range for the win. You have a true freshman QB, getting his first game due to injury to Crist. And you call a pass. gg coach.

Im not sure what is more painful, being a ND fan or being a Vikings fan. Oh yeah, im both. Somebody please shoot me.

I think I'll just watch Cam Newton to make myself feel better. lol

Really looking forward to Stanford @ Washington. Not too interested about the NCAAF match up but I'm really excited to see Jack Locker vs. Andrew Luck.

Should be a wet one, it's been raining here all day. Hopefully we'll see both guys at their best.

If something costs Auburn this game, it'll be their Pac-10/Big-12 Defense. Can't have one of those and expect to win in the SEC. Seriously.

Well when no one gets open and your being rushed....

Wow Roy Helu Jr has 228 and 3 TDs on 10 carries.

he gets em just when he sees someone blitz, he doesnt even have to be under pressure

They should have thrown a flag for helmet to helmet which would have overrid the fumble.

Does UCLA have the best safety tandem in the nation or what? Zumwalt & Rahim Moore blitz & never miss. They will be playing on Sundays soon

Zona hanging on to a 5-point lead but UCLA all over them, Neuheisel is just what they needed to bring that program back.
