I agree. Besides, who would we take? Russell? No, we have J-Cut. CJ? No, we have Walker and Marshall, who will be fine. If we lost Bailey we'd be screwed. I don't think I'd trade him for anyone in the league.

I would trade New York Jets' safety Kerry Rhodes for the #1 pick. Then I would trade down to like 6 and stockpile many amount of picks and draft Landry as his replacement, and the Jets will have much more high draft picks, trading down from #1 and ending up at #6 takes a lot of ammo.

Straight up I guess I'd have to consider it, just because I love Calvin Johnson. Assuming Vilma is considered our best player, I'd probably do it because I think our offense with Calvin would be scary and we'd be in good shape for quite awhile. If the best player on the Jets is somebody else, I dunno. Even with Vilma I'd have to think about it but I'd probably end up pulling the trigger. And the only reason I'd do it is because IMO a 3-4 ILB is easier to find than an elite WR.

Rhodes would be tough to trade, but I'd probably take Johnson there as well, and WR>S.

Yes. Regardless of whether you think it's Owens, Ware, Newman, or Roy. I think it's a no-brainer.

Rhodes would be very tough. I would rather trade Vilma, but this thread is the best player on your team, that role belongs to Rhodes now.

I'll roll the dice and give you Richard Seymour for the chance to hool Brady up with Calvin Johnson but, no dealing Brady.

who would you want us to take a qb or CJ

GB12
03-20-2007, 04:36 PM
That's tough, but I'll say yes because CJ is too hard to pass up if it only takes one player.

Q
Fitz

Dansby

You'd have a tough time convincing me to give up the key to our defense, who is only 24 years old, for a completely unproven rookie who would demand a huge contract.

no, i wouldnt trade any of the following for the #1 pick

If you traded Dansby for the #1 overall pick and drafted Calvin Johnson, you would have the sickest WR core ever.

Then you would have the #5 overall pick. Trade down with that pick to around #20 and draft Dwayne Jarrett and would pick up a lot of day one picks with that trade. You spend the rest of the picks on Oline and you would produce the most dominant offense ever.

I'd say no. Depending on who you consider the Steelers best player. In my mind its either Troy or Ben and I wouldn't give up either one of them.

Michael Vick still has a ton of potential and all the tools to succeed in the NFL with the right offense so that's a no-no. Although, if you considered Keith Brooking, John Abraham, or Rod Coleman our best player I would make this trade in a second.

03-20-2007, 06:29 PM
Well, its either Favre, Driver, Kampmann, or Hawk.
So I would have to say yes, the only one I would consider not doing would be Hawk. But Cj and Greg Jennings, HOLY ****. Or AD, man that would be awesome.

etk
03-20-2007, 06:53 PM
Do I even need to say it? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers would give up their 2 best players for the #1 pick, but only if we keep the 4th too. Our 3 best players are all old, but our most valuable player in trades is Cadillac, so I don't know what the criteria is.

Jimmy

i would want the top 2 picks for champ. thats just the way it is. some might say thats lucrative, i dont care. If the raiders offered all their draft picks, randy moss, and asomugha for Ladanian, the chargers would be smart to keep ladanian

Who is the Browns best player? K2?
I would consider him the best... and I would trade him for the #1 overall pick and take CJ. ( upgrade in health if nothing else).

03-20-2007, 07:03 PM
Calvin for Frank Gore, hmm... I guess I'd do that, just because of Gore's injury history and the current value of RBs in the NFL (seems like you can get somebody pretty decent for not too much cash or too many draft picks in exchange right now) but it's close, because of what Frank has meant to SF both on the field and in the locker room. Everybody loves him, so I'd definitely be sad to see him go.

Good question, I don't think so though. I don't know who you'd call our best player between Fitz, Boldin, and Wilson but I wouldn't want to give up any of them for the #1 pick.

Shaun Rogers for the #1? Sure.

Roy Williams for the #1? Sure.

Ernie Sims for the #1? Sure.

Tough call. I'd say Umenyiora is the best player on the team in terms of draft value due to his age, performance, and the fact that he plays a premium position. It would be tempting to give that up for CJ but in the end I would stick with Osi. He's one of the best young players in the league and he plays an incredibly important position. As great of a sure-thing great prospect Johnson is, he plays a less important position and has yet to prove himself in the NFL, although the chances of him not being a star are very, very low.

indyfan1985
03-20-2007, 09:49 PM
Hell no I wouldnt!!! Peyton Manning is the best player at his position and the QB position is the hardest and most demanding position in the NFL.

NO, I think I would keep Lee Evans considering the dude is a stud and no one in the draft has proven jack yet....If anyone is willing to give up their teams best player for # 1 then you shouldn't be a GM or your team really stinks

Bigbadbob72
03-21-2007, 01:15 AM
I would give up winlsow or Braylon or Sean Jones or someone else to get #1 and #3. That way we could get AP and CJ or BQ. WE could fix alot of holes.

Non_Sequitur
03-21-2007, 01:16 AM
Well... as a Jets fan, it's hard. We have no 1 big named top of the line player. Who is our best player? The young and talented (but still learning the 3-4) former defensive rookie of the year Jon Vilma? The should-be pro bowler and former All-Rookie team Safety Kerry Rhodes? The top 10 in the NFL over the past 3 years DE Shaun Ellis? The top 10 QB when healthy, but oft injured Chad Pennington? The recently traded for RB Thomas Jones? Last year's late 1st round pick Nick Mangold? Last year's early first round pick D'Brickashaw Ferguson, who is more talented than Nick Mangold, but was outperformed this year? The tenacious and speedy WR Laveranues Coles?

Depends on which one you'd choose. I'd keep D'Brick, Mangold, Vilma, and Ellis. The others I would trade.

It'd be tough with the Seahawks. Factoring in that we could trade the pick, grab someone like Thomas, Branch, Adams, or even Landry, and have a multitude of other picks or players, that'd be very tough to pass up, especially with Walter slowly going on the decline. It'd scrap the Super Bowl hopes for the year most likely, but looking towards the future, I don't know.

As for the Jets, considering their best player is Vilma, I'd do it. I love the guy, but he realistically isn't the greatest fit for the 3-4 and with CJ there, I'd have to do it.

TheChampIsHere
03-21-2007, 01:47 AM
I would say our best player is Morrison (maybe Burgess) and while he'd be a tough player to lose, it would be a no brainer to trade him for the #1 (or in our case #2 pick). We could always get Patrick Willis in a trade down but the likely scenario is we get Russell and CJ, which is a great foundation to set for an offense. That could be an incredible QB-WR combo.

Ravens best player is prolly 1 of Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, Chris McAlister, or Jonathan Ogden so lets go player by player

Ed Reed.....no
Ray Lewis....no
Chris McAlister....no
Jonathan Ogden....I'd trade him for Calvin Johnson

03-21-2007, 03:52 PM
Michael Vick? No. He's a 27-year QB, with as much physical talent as anyone in this draft class. He still has time to harness his abilities, on a consistent basis. If he can do so, under the tutelage of Bobby Petrino, and Hue Jackson, watch out.

Frank Gore and his 25 -30 Carries > Calvin Johnson and his 5- 6 Catches

And for your information we are not the Denver Broncos, we can't just slot anyone in the backfield.

yaa id trade our best player for CJ...but id have to have something like a conditional clause, if CJ doesnt put up the numbers i want then i get vilma or rhodes back...so most definately not, i'll never trade a known great player in the NFL for a NFL prospect no matter how much of a sure thing he seems

Torry Holt for Calvin Johnson. You know what? I would probably do it. Holt is on the wrong side of 30, and has 4-5 good years left at best, and CJ has the potential to be even better than Holt. So yeah, I'd do it.

KBear
03-22-2007, 01:25 PM
I would rather trade for multiple first round picks or a first rounder and plus a slew a picks. I would rather have the isurance of having a more picks that at least a few of them will pan out, then paying a bunch of gauranteed money to an uproven player.

03-22-2007, 02:39 PM
Hmm...I would trade our top 2 players for the top 2 picks in the draft.

That would give us:
JaMarcus Russell
Calvin Johnson
Joe Thomas

For:
Derrick Burgess
Randy Moss

Hell yeah.
