There has to be something behind this. The makers of the show did not want him to win.

Prediction: Melinda Doolittle is VFTW's next target. They probably hate her fake humility.

Our long national nightmare is over.
Yes, now we can focus on less important things, such as abortion rights (not trying to be political, just reading the headlines), the genocide in Darfur, the high oil prices, corporate greed, the horrible public schools, the wars overseas, nuclear ambitions of rogue nations, and the fact that my toaster broke last night. Thank goodness!

why are peeple so negadiv about this show
The show is a joke of itself.
The premise is to select the best overall singer. That's all there is to it, yet the best are very seldom chosen. While that may be the premise, it's really just an entertainment show.
The reason it's such a hit is not because people are legitimately interested in seeing who is the best singer. It's a hit because the vast majority of viewers watch it so they can be entertained and laugh at the horrible singers. They want to see Simon Cowell ripping contestants to shreds.
Taylor Hicks is better than Chris Daughtry? Give me a break.
Oh well, I guess it isn't all bad. There's a lot of very talented singers who can jump start their careers based on the Idol fame.

The show is very indicative of how stupid American consumers are. They're more concerned with the packaging than the content or quality. I can't even tell you how many thousands of talented music acts are out there unsigned because labels would rather go with the potential for a pop superstar. Music in general is suffering because of this. I have no problem with talented pop musicians, but as a musician who played in a band that went unsigned despite (I think) considerable talent, I find it deplorable in many cases. I'd rather have a real band like the Killers than a piece of music trash like Fergie any day.

did you see him cry at the end when he was voted off? makes you kind of think of the insensitive joke you all pulled on this kid's emotions.

this show has done wonders for the singers. Look at every successful american idol contestant. they were all average shmoes like you and me, just trying to make it. American idol gave them their chance. all these contestants were just like you, trying to make it in the industry. They were nobodies before this show.

I don't get how that's relevant, the "insensitive joke" probably kept him in longer than he would've anyway. He received more publicity than he would ever and some record label will sign him based on the mini-phenomeneon that happened with him. Thus he will get more money in the end.
