Are you going to make one this year? If so, what is it?

Mine is to get in better shape and either become a cop or join the Army. I'm already in the process of becoming a police officer in either Baton Rouge or New Orleans but I want to get into enough shape that the police academy doesn't kick my ass.

A cop in baton rouge/ New Orleans? Sounds like a pretty dangerous job with a perk of getting riot gear and clubbing people. Mine is pretty lame but i want to get a 4.0 next semester in college. For a more long term goal i want to run a sub 16 5k.

It is fairly dangerous, more in Baton Rouge than in New Orleans. I think that adds to the excitement although I'm hoping for the NOPD job more than the one for BRPD. I just like the city of New Orleans better than Baton Rouge.

Workout out/lose some weight. Not much to lose, but my eating habits are terrible and I'm slowly getting chubbier. Iunno if it's a New Year's Resolution because I didn't really think of it as that, more as a thing to do when I got back to school in the spring, but it works as one just fine.

More & more of this, VM!! Funny, I said the same things this time a yr ago about 2009.

We think alike in an era of lowered expectations.

Loving CJ's resolutions as well.

And oh yeah, see the Dallas Cowboys actually live up their preseason expectations for once in my life & kick the living **** out of the Philadelphia Eagles.

I hate to call it a "New Year's Resolution," as it's more of a "The Holidays and mass amounts of food associated with them are over" Resolution.

I graduated High School at about 180 pounds (6'0 tall) and then I started to fill out a bit muscle-wise...I was always on the skinny side growing up, and during my freshman year of college, I was what I'd call a healthy 200 pounds and stayed there for my first two years of college.

But I hit my junior year and just became a lazy, drinking, pot smoking eating machine. I had always been the first 3, but I the eating a whole lot more started seemingly out of nowhere, and by the end of that year, I got up to 225 pounds, by far the heaviest I had ever been. Looking at pictures from the time makes me sick with how fat I looked.....I guess I missed out on the Freshman 15 so I got the Junior 25 instead....

So last summer, I worked out and dieted like crazy with the goal of getting into good enough shape to play Ultimate Frisbee. I was good friends with almost everyone on the team and thought it would be a good way to keep in shape, and it was. I lost 25 pounds over the summer, toned my muscles a bit and kept it off playing frisbee.

But last March, I dislocated my kneecap playing in the rec center, and I'm barely able to jog across a street now.

So my goal is, now that the holidays are over, to diet and exercise and try to get back down to 200 pounds again. (I'm probably between 215-220 now.)

So I suppose that is my "New Year's Resolution" though it's more just a matter of convenient timing than actually having anything to do with New Years.

And to stop watching the networks news broadcasts, too depressing, selling fear to the masses by the wheelbarrowfull.

All things considered, good advice for us all.

Don't be afraid of police academies. They're about the least physically demanding thing I've ever done in my life. Seriously, about 3/4 of my class were disgusting fat bodies and they all got through the physical agility portion. Don't get me wrong, you should definitely get in shape...that's a great goal, but don't worry too much about the academy.

My resolution is to not get blown up or shot.

Speaking of which I saw that The Chicago POs' Assn. got on the case of that fat **** Billy Gardell for playing a Chicago cop on that sitcom. It was slap in the face to their physical qualifications, they would never allow anyone that obese on the force. TVland <<<<<<<< real life.

It's not really a resolution but I am planning to start lifting again this year. I just finished building the platform for my power rack in my basement and by sometime tomorrow I'll have the rack itself put together. I may have to saw out a few sections of floor joist for it to fit, stupid low basement ceiling. I guess if I were to make a for-sure goal it would be to have a 1000 lb. total in bench, squat, and deadlift by the end of the year. Shouldn't be too hard.

Absinthe is just foul horrible tasting stuff that gets you buzzing like almost nothing else...

New Years Resolutions have actually been something I've been exceptional at sticking to in the past so I've made 3 that really aren't massive...

1. Stick to a workout regime and related to this... less drinking and better eating as the 3 go hand in hand, when I limit the hangovers I have no worries with the other 2... so I guess drink less...

2. Move back out, this one is proving difficult, the rental market in Perth is ridiculous and if you aren't making 250k a year you basically can't afford a decent house over here.

3. **** Bitches, Acquire currency. Serious note though, save a boatload so that 2012 can be epic holidays.

All should be reasonably obtainable, though it must be said that 2 and 3 kind of go against each other.

Either way, I've made about 4 NY resolutions in my life and I've kept them all, so that's a positive.
