I don't care if it's early! With most of the players making up their minds about either going to the NFL or going back to college I would like to see who you guys think are the tops players in next Years Class.

Andrew Luck
Trent Richardson
Alshon Jeffery
Matt Barkley
Stephon Gilmore Just to name a few. I think the Strong parts of this draft would be QB,CB,LB.

Colt Brennan had "stats and records too." Kellen Moore is nothing more but a career backup and product of a system in my eyes.

Burfict is the scariest LB prospect to come out in a while.

He has more than a few screws loose.

But, his teammates will love him. He is a lock to have one of the dirtiest reputations in the league. I anticipate a lot of fines in his future.

Early, Early top five for me

1) Andrew Luck (QB/Stanford)
2) Alshon Jeffery (WR/South Carolina)
3) Jonathan Martin (LT/Stanford)
4) Travis Lewis (WLB/Oklahoma)
5) Trent Richardson (RB/Alabama)

Weak class of defensive lineman is what really stands out to me. Jared Crick (if he comes back) and maybe Brandon Jenkins are the two best prospects, but i'm not particularly high on either.

Stephen Gilmore is a stud as is Manti Te'o. Two guys I love out of this class.

Kellen Moore and Foles are non-prospects.

Burfict is one of my favorite linebacker prospects in awhile. Some teams might be turned off because he's really...intense. Might not be the best fit personality wise for a lot of teams but he has an insane amount of physical ability and is one of the nastiest hitters to come along in awhile. Might be the closest thing to Ray Lewis we've seen in a bit.

The Reason he came back this year was because it would take him until Spring of 2012 to get it done, So he should be ready for the 2012 NFL Draft.

Probably a good year for MLB/ILB too.
Carder/Skov/Te'o/Burfict

Don't forget Don'ta Hightower, who's going back to Bama for his Junior season. Probably the top ILB available for 2012. I would rate Burfict slightly below him at this point, but Burfict is a little more of a sideline to sideline player than DT, who may be limited to a 3-4 ILB. Not much range there.

thebow305
01-10-2011, 06:20 PM
12. Ray Ray Armstrong, SS, 6-4, 220, Miami *

Wow, pretty high on Ray Ray huh? I love the guy, but he really has to step up next year. Hasn't shown to be a difference maker yet. Part of it is because, for some reason, Shannon felt the need to yank him and out of the lineup all season. If he gets a full year of snaps in the Starting lineup, he could definitely reach this type of potential as a Top 15 pick though, maybe even Top 10. And he's a True FS, not a SS.

That ranking right there is extremely debatable. Jones will be the second receiver off the board. I won't guarantee it, just because he could potentially be the first picked in April. Blackmon could have come out and Julio still would have been a lock in the Top 15. He's the most complete receiver in this class (note: I'm not saying polished) and he's the greatest physical specimen we've seen at the position since Calvin Johnson. A lot of people have been sleeping on him after a slow Sophomore year. This year he was very much the best player on that offense.

Surprised that Matt Reynolds of BYU decided to stay. I guess they'd rather be ancient as opposed to just old when they leave there.

I think a few BYU players have actually been eligible for social security and bowl games simultaneously.

In all seriousness I don't think Reynolds was going to go very high this year anyway. At his best I think he can suffice as a RT in the NFL.

I think we're going to be talking about Ryan Mallett's backup Tyler Wilson a lot next year. The performance he put on in 3 quarters against Auburn after Mallett went out with an injury was probably the best peformance I saw by an SEC quarterback all season, outside of Cam Newton's performance against LSU on the ground.

He's going to have all of Arkansas' offensive weapons back next year other than D.J. Williams. Greg Childs, Joe Adams, Cobi Hamilton, Jarius Wright, Knile Davis, etc. are all going to be at his disposal.

I doubt he actually comes out after next season and only one year of starting under his belt, but he'll definitely be in the discussion mix with all the top underclassmen quarterbacks. This kid has tools.

I think Ryan Lindley is going to end up being one of the top Senior QB's too.

True, Barron announced Saturday he's staying for his sr. yr. at Alabama. He will definitely benefit for the additional yr's experience, he's a former SEC INT leader & all-SEC player, has learned better pursuit angles this yr. & minimized his soph mistakes in coverage.

Lester was tied for the national lead in INTs with 9 after the bowl games, just a great center fielder ballhawk type.

Reminds me a lot of Jets nickelback 07 pick Dwight Lowery from San Jose St. with his ball skillset, but about 5 lbs heavier & 2 in. taller.

Matt Kalil should be the best tackle in the draft next year and there would be several LBs i'd take ahead of Lewis, dont see where he has the size to be effective at the next level.
Lewis is 6'2/235. Not really anything to be overly concerned about. He can put on some pounds if necessary I think. Lance Briggs is what, 6'2/240? Lewis is amazing in coverage too. Rumors say he'll run in the 4.4's with no trouble. I like Kalil, played well at LT for the Trojans this past year, but Martin was a wall out there. Didn't see people getting by him, and he was a mauler in the run game. Good athlete. Kalil is probably my #2 tackle though Oregon did a good job against him.

1. Andrew Luck
2. Landry Jones
3. Matt Barkley
4. Nick Foles
5. Robert Griffin

People are overrating Barkley IMO and underrating Landry here. If Landry has another year on par with last year, he should be right behind Luck IMO if he declares.
I kind of view Landry in the terms of a Mark Sanchez/Carson Palmer prospect. Good arm strength, solid accuracy, decent mobility.

I think people will have some decent prospects these 2 years to look at for QB's. They might not be OMGWOWZERS but really solid guys that you could potentially build your team around.
I mean, this year you got what, 5-6 QB's possibly being taken in the first 2 rounds and then next year you could add another 3-6.

Burfict is the scariest LB prospect to come out in a while.

He has more than a few screws loose.

But, his teammates will love him. He is a lock to have one of the dirtiest reputations in the league. I anticipate a lot of fines in his future.

I, too, think Barkley is a bit overhyped. He's been hyped like he's the ULTIMATE prospect when he doesn't have elite size or above average mobility tbh.

With that said, Landry Jones bothers me. He just doesn't seem that bright. Not Ryan Mallett/Jamarcus level of moron but still a little dull. If he gets football that doesn't matter but I see some spotty decision making when I see him play too.

Now, would I throw him in the convo with Newton/Gabbert this year, especially after another season to improve? Sure. So he's up there

I need to see more of Cousins. Didn't watch Mich State enough last year. I'm intrigued but a little skeptical of a few things

Foles is fluff. He's a stiff so he won't be the third coming of LeFevour/Ponder but I expect a lot of people to be on his nuts nonetheless.

Burfict is legit crazy but also legit good. Top 5 talent and I don't say that lightly about a LB. RB/MLB/WR - all are once in a decade top 5 talent positions. AD, Calvin and Burfict are my guys there. And I LOVED Patrick Willis. But where he went to SF is about as high as you can justify him. Burfict? As long as he doesn't murder someone (or if he does - as long as he gets Ray's lawyer) he can have that special impact

He's 6'4 265 pounds, recruited by Missouri as a Offensive Lineman but switched to Defensive End in 2009. Started two games last year when Aldon Smith was out with his broken league.
