He's one of my players in a fantasy league and I have a feeling that his positioning will come up for debate this off-season. So I'm wondering...is he a linebacker or a defensive end? I understand that he plays both roles and is listed as a hybrid of both in the NFL but in my opinion he plays more snaps at DE and it seems as if it increased in the 2010 season. He also gets most of his stats when he has his hand in the ground, ask Roethlisberger, he knows.

Just wondering what you guys think and any arguments for either side and just want to link this thread to them if they try to argue that he should be listed as linebacker.

He played a lot more defensive end this season for the Ravens, but that's mostly because Mattison refused to blitz the LBers too much. I think he's capable of playing both equally as well, especially since he's back down to 255ish (yeah I know that sine he dropped weight and played more DE doesn't make sense, but neither did Mattison). For fantasy purposes I'd say he should be ranked as a DE based on the snaps he played there last season, but I wouldn't count on Pagano using him in the same role.

Probably the wrong forum for this thread BTW.

Oops I thought I was in the pro football forum. Can this be moved? Thanks.

LB....I've seen him in man coverage out a little wide...that said I don't really play fantasy but I'd guess you play him at LB where a double digit sack guy might have more value maybe.

It depends on what you consider different guys. If you consider a guy like Cullen Jenkins, Haloti Ngata, Aaron Smith DT's, then he's a DE, if you consider them DE's he's a LB. Just match what you view other guys as to make it fair.

Suggs is more of a DE than an OLB. He rarely lines up in a 2-point stance anymore.

Which was mostly due to Mattison's unwillingness to send more than 3/4 guys at the QB, so he just lined him up at DE (not matter which front we used). I think he will see a return to time at LB under Pagano, although it's hard to say at this point.
