Jacquizz Rodgers will have the fastest 40 by .03 seconds with a 4.34

Derrick Locke.

Dark Horse: Dontay Moch; kid was a state champion sprinter in high school. You know he has good technique for running in a straight line.

Good (or bad) technique can be worth tenths of a second in the 40.

Da'Rel Scott is a candidate.

Possibly Da'rel Scott. 10.56 100 meters in high school, Smooth longish strider with extremely quick turnover with his feet. As you can see when he hits stride he's crazy fast and considering his state champion background technique shouldn't be an issue. He's a terp too, sub 4.4 40 times is norm, haha

Both plays are awesome but you can really see the acceleration on the second one.

Edmund Gates? Players that come out of Abilene are usually pretty damn fast.

Whomever runs the fastest.

Brandon Saine ran a 10.38 in high school. I don't know how that compares to other prospects but I thought it was fast.

Assuming there is a Combine. There could be a player boycott.

I'm kinda hoping that happens, to be honest. That would take Al Davis completely out of the equation.

Assuming there is a Combine. There could be a player boycott.

Boycotting the combine would be counterproductive for every prospect that does so.

First of all, the combine takes place before the deadline for the new deal to get done. How could a boycott possibly have any meaning while the two sides are (presumably) still meeting in hopes of getting a deal done? Wouldn't this, in fact, actually hinder the chances of a deal getting done?

Second of all, boycotting the combine can and will have a deleterious effect on the draft stock (and hence draft position) of a lot of guys. Any agent who suggests that his prospect do so, is advocating for a prospect to act in a way that is contrary to his own interests in hopes that things turn out better for the agents own interests. This is unethical, so any prospect who has their agent suggest he boycott the combine should fire his agent immediately.

Boycott the actual draft if no deal is done? Now that makes sense. Since the draft takes place after the deadline, so there may well be a lockout at this point, and "not actually being in the room" (and not allowing ESPN's cameras into your own livingroom) won't keep anybody from drafting you as high as your tape and potential suggest you should be. Honestly, it wouldn't be a bad thing if there weren't any prospects at the actual draft, it would mean that the announcers for the various networks can focus on something substantive (you know, like actually evaluating prospects) rather than "look at how sad Aaron Rodgers looks, just sitting there in the green room."

It's not just agents suggesting it. It's the NFLPA.

It's not just agents suggesting it. It's the NFLPA.

But nobody is a member of the NFLPA until he is drafted (and furthermore until he signs a contract with a team). Thus, if the NFLPA is suggesting that prospects boycott the combine they are suggesting that people who are not members of the union act in a way that is contrary to their own interests. Any agent who does not strongly dissuade a player from doing so, is unethical or incompetent.

The draft is happening with or without a deal in place, no prospect who wouldn't sit the combine out normally would choose to do so because of the lack of a agreement between the NFLPA and the Owners

No legit agent nor prospect will "boycott" the Combine. It would be suicidal for that players draft status.

Jernigan is not a 4.3 guy. I'd be surprised to see him run faster than a 4.45. Same with Quizz.

I'd say Devine gets pretty close to 4.2. Derrick Locke too. Also watch out for Jock Sanders.

The fastest guy at the combine will definitely be Noel Devine. Did you see how fast his stock fell at the Senior Bowl weigh-in... man that was FAST!

02-05-2011, 12:35 PM
Titus Young

I don't see the DeSean Jackson comparison when it comes to deep speed. He's quick, but I don't think he's nearly as fast as DeSean.

Rock Carmichael should time in the late 4.3s.

Gates, Edmund

Said he raced Johnny Knox on numerous occasions and never lost....Knox ran an official 4.29 at the combine. Wouldn't surprise me to see Gates run in 4.35 range.

People don't believe it, but the current version of Devine isn't really that fast.

I think he struggles to break 4.5 flat at the combine. Too many times Devine broke clean into the open field and couldn't outrun the back end of a defense.

Damn I just realized Joe Morgan is invited to the combine. There is your winner, trust me, so don't act surprised and say "who?" when that happens. Morgan is one of my big time sleepers. Reminds me of Anthony Armstrong.

Doug Hogue will run in the 4.4s as a LB.

Probably gonna be either Aldrick Robinson or Jeshua Anderson. Both low 4.3 receivers. On the defensive side of the ball, probably gonna be Curtis Brown or Vance Cuff (now that he's got his invite).

Overall, Anderson's probably gonna run close to a 4.2-4.3.

My guess is Ricardo Lockette or Torrey Smith. In reality, it will probably be a DB I've never heard of.
