Some of you may have noticed Oregon Basketball coach Ernie Kent's name come up in discussions about the Michigan job.
“I want a coach who has a proven system for winning, a style of play that's attractive to many types of players, and he has to come from a major conference,” Michigan athletic director Bill Martin told the Detroit Free-Press. “He's got to be able to recruit.”
You think he may have taken notice when Kent crept into his backyard and nabbed Malik Hairston and Tajuan Porter?
“I have an agent, and he's been contacted by some people,” Kent told the Oregonian newspaper. "I want to be at Oregon as long as they want me there. But if they don't want me there anymore and Michigan wants to talk, Oregon owes me the opportunity to listen.”
There are many other names out there right now, so everything right now is just speculation.
I just wanted to give you guys the perspective of an Oregonian. See, I actually think Kent is on his way out of here regardless of whether he goes to Michigan. There has been a lot of talk around here about the possibility of bringing in Mark Few of Gonzaga. Before you scoff, just listen up for a minute.
Few was born in Creswell, Oregon (which is 10 miles south of Eugene) and he graduated from the University of Oregon. His best friend is Pat Kilkenny, who was recently hired as Oregon's Athletic Director. Kilkenny is a longtime Gonzaga booster who actually had a seat on the team bus as early as last year. He recently flew Few to an Oregon Football game on his private jet. The fact that we are in the planning stage of a new state of the art arena makes the job extremely desirable- even without any personal ties to the university. Ask yourself- If offered the Oregon job, would Few be able to reject it? I'm personally beginning to think that this is a foregone conclusion. I think Few's ticket to Eugene has been punched, and Ernie Kent knows it.

Not sure how many of you have already heard some of these rumblings, but I thought I'd give you the gist of the underlying story if you didn't already know. So what do you think?
