Cano and Gonzo available in the draft? I'll be stuck with Bruce Chen or Brandon Wood by the time my first rounder gets here.

haha. It's not gonna be that bad. 2 teams were deleted, so there's gonna be some solid players available.

Oh man... it sucks for me the worst! I didn't win by 500 points... Sheesh, I didn't realize the difference either, Xio. Damn. The difference is A LOT!!! Instead of Robinson Cano, Adrian Gonzalez and Josh Hamilton, I'll probably be picking between Juan Pierre, Michael Cuddyer or Brett Garnder. Crap man, that's insane.

I only get 200 texts a month with my plan. I've been texting for Xio's draft, and I'm not sure how much I have left, but I could probably help you a little. Just don't want to duplicate effort.

I'll text Xio now.

bearsfan_51
02-28-2011, 03:38 PM
If people provide their numbers and ask me to text them, I'm fine with doing that.

That being said, if someone is leaving and there are only 2-3 people ahead of them, they could just send me a list of one or two players. It's not that big of a deal.

That doesn't matter to D. He's already got the following 5 SP: Sabathia, Liriano, Price, Buchholz, and Morrow. Damn that's a sick staff in even a 12 team mixed league, but in an 8 team AL only, that's insane!

Even with a 200 start maximum you can still hold 7-8 starting pitchers. The average starting pitchers gets about 30 starts a season, and then there's injuries.

6 starters will still be no problem to be under. Pretty much every SP only makes 33 starts if healthy: 33x6=198.

I really hate ESPN's Fantasy dashboard. I set my lineup for today late last night and it reverted back to the way it was. Lost 50 points from my pitchers that were inexplicably still on my bench today.

Yahoo is so much better. It actually allows you to set your lineups a few days in advance.

I've never experienced the problem, and I often set up my lineups 3-4 days in advance. Sorry that it happened, though.

I did something similar to that earlier in the year. I was setting my lineup for the next day just before I went to bed, and Scherzer was starting, so I was putting him into the lineup, but I guess I forgot to hit submit before I exited my browser. It only happened to cost me 11 points, though. Not ESPN's fault though on that one, that was 100% my fault.

With the draft upcoming if I wanted to pick up someone do I have to wait until they sign their professional contract?

You don't have to wait for anything. You don't have to be on a minor league roster to be selected. You could add your next door neighbor if you'd like.

OK, well cool. So, you're actually saying that we could add someone now in anticipation of them possibly being drafted by an AL team?

Interesting. Well tomorrow might see a lot of action then depending on whom the AL teams draft. The AL only has 4 picks out of the first 16 though.

I'll definitely be adding someone since John Lamb is gonna be having Tommy John surgery. It'd be nicer if the AL had more high picks though, but they do have 2, 4, 5, and 8, and in this draft that will mean some nice talent.

Stop acting like I was doing something that I couldn't have done without benching all my players. You really can't stop someone from tanking if they want to. I can set my line up and still be last place. It's being competitive in the long run. What do you have against that? You want the 8th place teams to fight for 6th and 7th place till the end??? Get real. They don't HAVE TO. I played this game all through the season and my team just sucked. So why do I have to keep fighting for something not worth fighting for?

Does it matter if you bench all your guys versus adding crappy guys from the wire and play them just to fill a spot?

It's not even necessarily a good thing to get the #1 pick. I was just trying something new. Strategy is strategy. I'm not using an unfair advantage and it doesn't give me a better chance for winning next season.

The advantage is very marginal and insignificant and you know it. Our drafts are snake style, not traditional. If it were traditional then that would be a major difference. Stop acting like there is a way to stop a team from tanking if they want to. I just decided to do it purposefully rather than gradually.

...and it doesn't go against what I say in my leagues. It's what you say in yours. I don't like people going inactive and not caring, but that's a lot different. What I did was conscious strategy, not tanking for not caring.

This has nothing to do with draft positioning, though the difference between the #1 pick and #2 pick could easily be getting Albert Pujols/Prince Fielder or somebody's mediocre castoff. This is about your bush league tactics.

People who go inactive and don't set their lineup in your leagues get booted the following season. So how is this any different? You can sugar coat your bush league nature by using fancy rhetoric like "conscious strategy" all you want. Everyone else just laughs to themselves when they read it.

I'll give you Verlander for free if you can find someone (other than you, yoda, hchu, and BF) to take Uggla from me in a trade that makes sense for me.

Because I think you are the one suffering from delusion.

1) It's not that no one wants him. As I told you, I'd gladly take him if I didn't have a 2B of the same caliber already (Weeks). Not keeping two guys at one position. Many people are in the same boat.

2) No one likes discussing trades with you. They don't want your spare parts. I doubt very much you've been in actual negotiations with more than a few people in the league as a result. Unanswered PMs don't constitute a lack of interest. A third of the league completely quit caring weeks ago.

3) You're not really shopping him because you know you got a good deal and trading him away for anything less than a good deal (for you) to prove some kind of point is not something you will do.

Now let's stop cluttering up this (other) league thread. You really don't really want to lose two arguments in one day, do you?
