I'm sure most on here have seen him play a bit. To me he is the best true freshman i can remember at lsu. His aggressiveness and pursuit to the ball is second to none in my book
Feed back appreciated

Yeah this kid blew up this season. Made play after play after play. Russel Shepard and Spencer Ware had the tools as true freshmen and were underutilized. If Mathieu keeps his head on straight and keeps improving he will be Patrick Peterson #2.

He isn't Patrick Peterson as far as talent is concerned but he will be a very good college corner and has the chance to be a good pro corner. Peterson is a very, very rare talent at corner and guys like him don't come around very often. Mathieu isn't Peterson physically but he does have some talent and is definitely a tough player. He was only a freshman last year but I see some Cortland Finnegan in him.

Kid's a playmaker. Was he the NB last year? Looked like some of the ways they used him are the ways you'd use a NB, with the blitzing and such.

He was covering slot guys a lot and was blitzing from there a bit. I don't think he was being sent a crazy amount but it appeared that way because he was strong against the run and made a lot of plays at or behind the line for a corner. Losing Peterson is obviously going to hurt, but that LSU secondary is absolutely loaded with young talent. Mathieu, Eric Reid, Ron Brooks, and Ronnie Vinson all played as freshmen last year and will all be big contributors for them. Craig Loston should start this year as well and I'm sure they got another awesome recruiting class full of DB's. They won a NC a few years ago but LSU has been disappointing lately, they have the talent to be competing for the title pretty much every year.

...but LSU has been disappointing lately...
What does it say about a fanbase when 28-11 over 3 years in the SEC is disappointing? Spoiled Tigers... ;)
Well, I guess considering Florida (LSU's annual SEC East matchup), Bama, and Auburn were the teams to then win NC's after you, it can rile people up.

Seeing what LSU has done in the years since their last NC and knowing that it is considered "disappointing" sucks. Try being an Ole Miss fan. We have beaten them two out of the last four times and played them very close the other two games, so at least we have that.
