Love the Peterson pick for Carolina.

Hard to pick a DB at #1, but if there is a rookie wage scale, then this makes a lot of sense. Still need to shore up the Dline tho.

Hey, if you plan to do another one of these mocks, or if a gm drops out I would love to join.

"given that he (Peterson) is a full 219 pounds, can be a weapon as a returner, and could conceivably become a star at safety if a coach ever pushed him there, he epitomizes a guy who can produce early."

i agree - i like peterson going #1 - and I hope rivera and the panthers buck the trends and take this CB #1 - and yes if someone backs out - you are on deck

Sounds good, until then I will just add my 2 cents.

"With the Third pick in the 2011 NFL Draft the Buffalo Bills Select Robert Quinn OLB from the University of North Carolina."

I love this pick. Even with Cam available, I do not believe that they need a qb. Getting to Tom Brady has got to be a number 1 priority. Quinn as an OLB/DE hybrid should be a monster for the Bills!

fed36
03-11-2011, 11:50 AM
I like this pick to for Buffalo - I definintely agree that they should not take a QB. Fitzpatrick showed last year that he is more than serviceable...he may not be the long term answer for the future - but in the short term he has shown he can put up the numbers and yardage to keep the bills offense scoring. but when brady is in your division - to have a chance you need to get at him

fed36

Ok - 49erNation85 has gone over his 6 hour time limit - according to Scott's top 100 list the best player available is AJ Green, WR Georgia....49erNation85 you have an hour to make a pick that makes more sense for the Cardinals - if not this will be Arizona's pick. i guess they can try to trade Fitzgerald now after this pick. Not a good sign that we already have a GM that is MIA....if he does not appear soon - BigBLue has volunteered to be the on deck GM - and if 49Nation85 does not show soon I will let BigBlue know that he will get to GM the NFC West.

yeah giving someone a 6 hour period is not cool.. some people work 8 hour shifts.

Some people scream that 8 hours is too long - and then some scream that six is too short - you cannot please everyone. In the instructions - I clearly wrote that anyone can foward me their picks ahead of time - which wasn;t done. 49ernation85 - you were on at 9:59 this morning and picks had already been made - you could have sent me a pm said I will be at work all day - give me either x y or z when my spot is up. i got your pm that said you want out and i offered your spot to big blue42 - waiting for his confirmation.

You know though - I have an extremely busy schedule too - was at work all day myself - but i thought last night I will start this up because i thought it would be cool....but if you all think that it is just not cool - then i can stop

fed36
03-11-2011, 09:15 PM
and another thing - if you want a different player - then at least tell me who you want - cleveland has not even picked yet so it is not too late. why just complain when you could have said damm i did not realize it was six hours - i was at work - but since the other pick has not been made - can we change it to whatever. why just complain

There's no excuse for missing a pick. Forward a big board if you don't think you're going to be able to make it. I do think Arizona should choose someone else that's still available though, whether it's Gabbert, Locker, Newton, Quinn, or Amukamara. There has to be a better way of choosing for teams that miss their pick. What about fed just choosing for teams that miss their pick, and if you don't like it, don't miss it?

I am OK with that - if it is OK with everyone - I will switch Arizona to Prince Amukamara - Mike the Dude -if that means you would rather have AJ Green for cleveland since he would be available for cleveland than let me know and we can make that switch as well

The pick for the Falcons was difficult. Justin Houston, Nate Solder and Kyle Rudolph were the top choices. I eliminated Solder because I think re-signing Clabo will be a priority for the Falcons. So then it came down to Houston and Rudolph and I went back and forth on the pick. Houston makes a lot of sense and is a local kid who could eventually become John Abraham's replacement. But Atlanta has invested in a lot of young defensive linemen as of late, including Kroy Biermann, Lawrence Sidbury, and the underachieving Jamaal Anderson. They also have taken some interior linemen high including Peria Jerry and Corey Peters (3rd round). So, with so much attention dedicated to their defensive line, I don't know that the Falcons will privilege DE over the opportunity to add a player of Rudolph's caliber. With Tony Gonzalez's skills declining, Rudolph would make a lot of sense. Matt Ryan, like any other young QB, needs a safety valve and a guy who can go to in the clutch. Rudolph can be that player and a guy who would hurt teams that choose to roll coverage toward Roddy White. I really think the Rudolph pick would be a solid one for the Falcons though I know there will be arguments made on behalf of Houston.

BigBlue42
03-14-2011, 07:04 AM
I really like the Rudolph pick for Atlanta. Tough to pass up Houston, but their offense needs to keep growing to keep up with the Saints, Packers, etc.

Rudolph, as long as he is healthy, will be an impact player in the NFL.

All solid picks in the first round. I was surprised that Corey Liuget and Justin Houston fell, but they will be early 2nd rounders I'm sure. I am also curious to see where WR Leonard Hankerson, OLB/DE Brooks Reed, and S Rahim Moore end up.

Definitely surprised at the Kaepernick pick. I thought that Brooks Reed would have been a strong selection at that point.

Curious to see when the next wave of WR's start coming off the board along with R. Moore, M. Pouncey, and S. Wisniewski.

So far I am really digging this draft - especially Denver, Houston, and Arizona's.

Seahawks draft is looking good! QB Locker and WR Hankerson.

Pete Carrol's offense might starting looking like the old USC days.

I just realized I ****** up on the Bills (drafted two OLBs) :/

Actually with the Bills playing a hybrid 4-3/3-4 defense, you grabbed 2 players (Quinn and Houston) that can play both DE and OLB depending on the D. Sure there were some DTs available, but you also grabbed a good OT in the 3rd to shore up a spot on the OL. There was only 1 OT grabbed between your 2nd and 3rd selections, so you definitely got value.

Love the Carolina pick of Austin. He has top potential and I think Rivera can get a lot out of this kid.

I like Cinci's picks, but just wonder who will be QB'ing for them next year?

Denver is still sticking out to me with their value and ability to secure top talent on D.

Steelers and Bears are (re)building some Monster olines!

just me 2 cents - good drafting guys!

Love the first pick of Von Miller for SF. He should be a good rush backer for their 3-4.

Not sold on taking Pouncey in the 2nd, especially when you had Rahim Moore, S, UCLA available (and taken right afterwards).

But SF is going to stay a running team and the pick will add to last years crop.

SF still needs to look secondary, QB, and TE (Harbaugh loves to use multiple TEs)

Looks good!

I am still a believer that Palmer will return and will be a very good QB next year. If not, I believe next year's QB class will be a better shot at finding a good QB than this year's. With the addition of Ryan Williams and some youthful defensive pieces, I am hoping that these are the building blocks for Marvin's team to actually look like the 2000 Ravens that got him the head coaching gig in the first place.

And thank you for the feedback for both the Bengals and Steelers, it's much appreciated! :)

Glad to chime in. I find interesting hearing the rationale behind the teams. Good stuff.

Yes, if Palmer stays and gets back to form, then you are good to go and true about the next crop of qbs.

It has surprised me that the Bengals have been known more as an offensive team under Lewis. If he can get his D back to his roots, then they could be very succesful.

BTW - I do love Williams. I am here in VA and know what he is capable of when healthy.

BigBlue42,
thanks for the input on SF.Depending on how our draft latest I will fill in those needs later on.I just couldn't pass on Pouncey though as SF needs to rebuild the entire O line sure he is a reach but worth the pick for a fresh guy at C or G for a stud o line like you stated and back to the power running game.I'll probably go S or QB then two rounds depending BPA. JH might look for a TE in FA if there is ever one.
