Brothgar
03-19-2011, 02:09 AM
Where: On Blogtalk Radio

When: Applications due by April 1st
Round 1: Thursday - April 7th 10PM EST - approx 12 AM EST (Max time approx 12:40AM EST)

Round 2: Friday - April 8th 10PM EST - approx 12 AM EST (Max time approx 12:40AM EST)

Round 3: Saturday - April 9th 10PM EST - approx 12 AM EST (Max time approx 12:40AM EST)

Round 4: Sunday - April 10th - 10PM EST - approx 12 AM EST (Max time approx 12:40AM EST)

Round 5: Monday - April 11th - 10PM EST - approx 12 AM EST (Max time approx 12:40AM EST)

Who: You, but only if you apply!

What: See Below!

I am currently taking applications for the LIVE Blogtalk Forum Mock Draft. The draft is nearing, and it is time to try out Mocking skills! For those of you who haven't seen a Forum Mock before, a few times a year we get together as a Forum and have a giant mock draft on this forum. But this time it will be on a Blogtalk radio chat rooom.

This mock will be vastly different from the usual forum mock. Firstly there will be one round done each day which means a very short clock (5 Minutes per pick to be exact). Since there is no CBA there will be NO trading of players in this draft but you are fully able to trade up and down in the draft if you wish but keep in mind that if you trade up don't take too long haggleing because the clock does not restart when you trade up.

Oh did I forget to mention that there will be LIVE commentary from our very own Shane P. Hallum and another analyst for EVERY pick?

Honestly, if you want to work on a specific team, get one or two other fans who plan on applying and put each other in the category that you want to work with each other. That will help your chances.

Descriptions of positions

Head GM: Runs the team and gets input from all sides to make decisions.

Co-GMs: Work together to create a cohesive team. Any can make final decisions but NEED input from each other.

Assistant GMs: Gives input to Head GMs to make final decisions. May post picks, but need Heads approval first.

If you would like to participate, please fill out the application below and send it to broth223@gmail.com or send it to me via PM (I have emptied my inbox so I should get them all).

* SWDC Username:

* Blogtalk radio Username:

* Teams of Preference (please list 1 through 5):

* Are there any other teams you would accept a position for?

* Are there any teams you absolutely wouldn't accept a position for?

* Why do you think you would be a good Head GM in this Forum Mock?

* Would you accept a position as an Assistant or Co-GM? Why or Why not?

* Are you sure that you will be available durring the designated pick times?

* If you are unable to make any of the given dates would you at least send a big boar (and be 100% honest)?

What other Official Forum Mocks have you been involved with?

Is there anyone else you would specifically like to/would work with?

Any other comments you'd like to add (why you would be good, etc).

Here are some of the details:

Trades: As said earlier there will be NO players traded unless a new CBA/Contract is struck by April 3rd.

Trade Submission: All trades will be submitted through Blogtalk PM and SWDC PM, or e-mail if more than 1hr prior to draft time no other submissions will be accepted unless noted.

Missing Picks: We only have a limited ammount of airtime and we are pushing the limits at 5 minutes per pick so once that 5 minute mark hits I will be making the pick for you.

Rounds: The draft will be 5 rounds, using the official NFL draft order as of April 1st.

FAQ:

Q: What is this Blogtalk Radio? How do I get a username?

Blogtalk Radio is an internet radio site that allows for streaming and archiving audio to the masses.

To get a user name https://secure.blogtalkradio.com/register.aspx <- go here fill out the form and it should only take 60 seconds.

If you are too lazy or just really don't want to you can sign in to Blogtalk radio using your facebook, myspace or twitter accounts.

Q: Why do I need an account?

The entire draft will be done inside of the chatroom. Only those with a username can participate in the chatroom.

Q: Do Team Leaders, Moderators, Head Moderators, and Admins still need to apply?

Yes, they do. Though I know many on reputation alone, I'd like an application from everyone for organization reasons along with team preference, etc.

Q: When will selections be?

Round 1: Thursday - April 7th 10PM EST - approx 12 AM EST (Max time approx 12:40AM EST)

Round 2: Friday - April 8th 10PM EST - approx 12 AM EST (Max time approx 12:40AM EST)

Round 3: Saturday - April 9th 10PM EST - approx 12 AM EST (Max time approx 12:40AM EST)

Round 4: Sunday - April 10th - 10PM EST - approx 12 AM EST (Max time approx 12:40AM EST)

Round 5: Monday - April 11th - 10PM EST - approx 12 AM EST (Max time approx 12:40AM EST)

Is this like the Fantasy Offseason?

No, it is not. There are no free agent signings. I want a Forum MOCK (i.e. mocking the actual draft,) not a fantasy draft. Be prepared for this. If you just want to claim a team and just pick your draft picks, I would love you.

Will you have a team?

I will not have a team, I will be serving as the commish.

Q: What is in it for me?

Outside of +Rep for participation if you have a draft blog, webpage, twitter, vlog, etc. that you would like to have linked onto our webpage participation will grant that.

Any other questions? just drop them in here and I will answer them.

I'd love to be in on this but I don't think my work schedule will allow for it although I'll gladly take the Saints and see if I can fit it in.

And JBond, please let me have the Saints in the last forum mock. I haven't had them in a long ass time and want to see how I would do in the last one.

Great job of broth and shane entertaining the draft! I heard up to pick 10 and thought you guys were doing a great job.

The team selections went by very interesting. I wasn't surprised to see AJ Green fall. I don't think he has Top 5 value. He's just not THAT good of a prospect. He's no Calvin Johnson.

Bosanac01
04-08-2011, 02:03 PM
I disagree with you on AJ Green. He is THAT good of a prospect. He's not as physically gifted as Calvin Johnson, nor does he have the timed speed or vertical, but he is every bit as good of a football player if not better. You really have to watch AJ Green play the whole game to see how good he really is. He's a complete WR and he really knows how to play football.

Are you suggesting that I haven't watched Green play? You can disagree with me, but please get off the high horse. IMO, Calvin was a better NFL prospect. Top 5 worthy... and I don't even think WRs are important enough to warrant Top 5 picks in the first place. If I'm an NFL team I don't look at WR with a Top 5 pick unless the case is extremely EXTREMELY special and the draft is weak at the top. CJ, imo was one the best, if not the best WR prospects in NFL history. How his career has gone is separate and unrelated from how I judged him as a prospect. If Green has a better career than Calvin, that won't surprise me. There are an infinite number of variables that affect the success of a player. There's no way I give Green the same prospect grade I gave CJ.

I just disagree that Aj Green is not elite or top 5 worthy. I think he IS that good. Look how much better he made his team when he came back this year. He doesn't have all the physical measurable, but when you put the tape in you can't say Calvin Johnson was any better than that.

Can somebody relay my pick for me when the Cowboys are on the clock? Just PM me when they are up and I'll give you my pick. I will listen online, but I think the feed is delayed.

Is there a post or something with all the picks made so far?

Shane's tweeting them as we go.

Otherwise here's a more readable, but not as up-to-date format.

I'll take a team. And Damn, I thought I was gonna have the Saints

Fear not - I have done very well with them.

Here's why the Cowboys couldn't pass up on Aaron Williams in Rnd 2 after taking Peterson in Rnd 1.

1. The Cowboys ranked 26th against the pass last year.

2. This offseason we are looking for 2 new safeties and 1 new corner. Sensabaugh was asked to test FA, Alan Ball is a joke and Newman is set to make $10M next season (which isn't happenin'). Peterson helps some, but the need is still great.

3. Immediate impact. The Cowboys historically have let DBs step in right away as rookies. From Newman, to Jenkins, to Scandrick to UDFA McCann... When I looked at OL and those available, I just didn't see an immediate impact player who fit the "best" value. Aaron Williams was too good to pass up on, for a OT or a 3-4 DL available. In fact, my #2 player on the board was Akeem Ayers.

4. Jerry's philosophy on OL has been to use the draft to find developmental linemen and using FA to fill immediate needs. I understand the talk about taking an OL like Tyron Smith as a legit rumor. IMO, that's a factor of 1) No FA prior to the draft and 2) his value versus other players available that fit a need. So sitting in Round 2 and looking at Tackles like those drafted: Franklin, Carpenter, and Reid (who by the way didn't go until later in Rnd 2)... I wasn't gonna reach for one of them with Williams sitting there.

5. As much as OL is an issue... the offense was humming last year once Garrett took over as HC.

DAL 33 @ NYG 20
DET 19 @ DAL 35
NO 30 @ DAL 27
DAL 38 @ IND 35
PHI 30 @ DAL 27
WAS 30 @ DAL 33
DAL 26 @ ARI 27
DAL 14 @ PHI 13

There are issues, but I was able to bypass the OL available for Williams.

6. I had a little issue passing on Paea, but I don't love him in the 3-4. Ballard and Bailey are nice prospects, but both are very raw. Stephen Bowen is a player Rob Ryan raved about upon reviewing current Cowboys players, and I feel like he's seen what many non-Cowboys fans don't yet see. The upgrade of Marcus Spears could already be on the team. ...and I think there are DL players still yet to be had. I couldn't pass on Williams who Scott currently ranks as the #1 safety in the draft.

Thanks for putting this on. Listening in has been a joy.

The main reason i took Locker in the 1st was because i figured what is the point in taking Green when the Bengals don't even have a QB to throw to him and 2nd round QBs don't have great success rate in the NFL plus i really like Locker in a west coast type offense.
