For those of you who aren't aware, Hershey's David Nolan kinda went HAM this past week at PIAA States. He broke 5 National Records (was .1 away from the 50 free record). 2 of them were relay records, 2 of them were lead off splits from relays.

His 200 IM ranks as the #8 fastest swim for that event EVER, making him the fourth fastest person to ever swim that. Yep, he broke Michael Phelp's 17/18 age group record.

Nolan is headed to Stanford. I still think he has room to fill out, which is CRAZY. Guarantee you'll see him in the Olympics in 2012.

And... that makes him a once in a lifetime talent... how.. exactly? Ever heard of Michael Phelps? Ian Thorpe? Aaron Piersol? Mark Spitz? Those are just a few from this lifetime that have accomplished far more than this kid can ever hope to.

Breaking Phelp's records and matching Spitz for having the most HSFW records because ti's the maximum number of records kind of does put him up there with them already. His times from this past week are faster than any time posted at the NCAAs. You can ask anyone knowledgeable in the swimming community. He is shattering records even after the tech-suit era. This guy is a big deal.

Ian Thorpe was only a freestyler, and even then he lacked the sprinting ability. He could mid distance to distance.

Aaron Piersol is a backstroker specialist. Lochte deserves to be up there before Piersol or Thorpe as he is a much better all around swimmer than either of those two.

Phelps and Spitz are definitely up there, but the fact remains that currently, Nolan is on pace with them and doesn't show signs of stopping.

My cousin was a swimmer, and is a High School swimming coach, and told me about Nolan as soon as he saw him his freshman year. But more recently he told me that this kid will eventually be as big of a player in swimming as Michael Phelps, and so far, if he continues to improve, my cousin will be right.

Pretty impressive. I've seen him live at Hershey meets the last two years, his whole family holds almost all the records there for the girls and boys.
