Epics aren't always poetry, though, so that might mean I don't like any poetry (or very little).

I actually had a poem published when I was back in 6th grade. It was about life. I don't remember all of it, but it was published in one of those books that celebrates the youth of society and how the future will be great and all. But look at me now. I still enjoy reading some poetry though, and although I don't write it all that much, I'm sure I would be able to get a pretty good one if I had a little time to think it up. I think I am a very good writer as long as I have something good to write about, but most of the time I don't care enough to do any of the "quality work" that I once was capable of. Recently, I did to a pretty awesome Ballad on my priciple that was absolutely hilarious. (She was Welsh, but for all tense and purposes, the was Brittish.) I can't repeat what was on it because it would get banned. Besides that, I don't do poetry anymore. (not that the ballad was poetry anyway)

From what Ive heard, Nas has used one liners from famous poets often in his lyrics. Some purists look down on it, because he sort of takes credit for lines that he didn't create on his own.

That's because you're probably not listening to rap that has even decent lyrics. I'm guessing your exposure to rap consists of songs you hear on the radio or videos you see on MTV. Most rap nowadays isn't good, but not all of it is the same.

Alrighty, here it is. Basically you'll get what the situation was b/w me and this girl when you read it. She asked me to write her a poem, and I did. A lot of it was the situation, but some of it is fictional...I kinda mixed the two up a bit. Like I said, it's loooonnnnngggg.....



My Helen, My Juliet

She’s that someone special,
The girl of my dreams and the princess of my nightmares,
She’s My Juliet, My Helen of Troy

With every step she takes and every breath she makes,
She brings me back to life,
With every gaze and every smile she gives me,
She opens up the heavens lights

God sent her down for a reason,
A reason for which I do not know,
But every time I lay my eyes on her,
She emits an Angel’s glow

She’s the girl next door to me,
A girl to which I never speak,
And every time I try and talk to her,
I shell up and become meek

Finally, I muster up the courage,
And tell her how I feel,
But I keep this mask in front of me,
Not showing who I am for real

I speak some words to her,

Nah, I've actually never really been exposed to poetry. My ignorance created the belief that it was all about incomprehensible love stories and other lame ass crap. Now I see it as a good alternative for when the music well refuses to pump anything but lyrical sludge. Which is often.

Well for the tall thing, that's the maximum height she reached. And I really hope the answer isn't "she was running" because I will be so pissed, especially since everything we've done all year has been lines and lines of solving equations to come up with the answer. I don't think he'd make it like that, though. It only gives one value, h, so I don't even see how I could solve anything. If he gave us mass, speed, work, anything, I could figure something out. I think he maybe left out the word after how by mistake. Still, confusing.
