*Incredible 5 round mock draft updated 4/10*

Summaries at the end. :)

FIRST ROUND

1 Panthers - Marcell Dareus DT Alabama*

As Mayock mentioned recently, GM Hurney has never taken a first round QB. There’s a significant drop from Luck to this year’s crop and I think Carolina would rather pass and trade down. No takers.

2 Broncos - Von Miller OLB Texas A&M

Switching to the 43 front doesn’t exclude Miller to the Broncos. Miller is the most talented pass rusher in this class and has shown the speed and ability to play in space. A good defensive game planer like Fox would know how to use Miller at SLB and situational rusher to keep offenses guessing. As of 4/6 Miller has had just one pro visit and guess who it was with?

3 Buffalo Bills - Blaine Gabbert QB Missouri*

Hard to argue that Blaine wouldn’t be a better fit here than Cam. Gailey wouldn’t need to change the offense a single bit and Buffalo Blaine could compete for a start in year two. Gabbert is like the super deluxe version of Fitzpatrick.

4 Cincinnati Bengals - AJ Green WR Georgia*

Let’s see, one of the projected surest prospects in the draft or one of the riskiest prospects to come along since forever…? I think the ghost of Akili prompts the Bengals to pass on Cam. Good for him.

5 Arizona Cardinals - Robert Quinn OLB/DE UNC*

If Miller is off the board I don’t see much other option for the Cardinals. Newton is far too much of a project for Wis and Skelton has upside. Peterson looks more like a luxury pick with DRC and Toler in place-especially since Toler might have outplayed DRC last season.

6 Browns trade to the Dallas Cowboys for their #9 and #71 - Patrick Peterson CB/FS LSU*

Been hearing rumors of this trade and I’m starting to think it’s possible.

7 San Francisco 49ers - Cameron Newton QB Auburn*

Why? Harbaugh’s own words… "The ability to make people miss as a quarterback is critical," he said. "Avoid. Being able to go with your legs. We've got some quarterbacks in this draft like Cam Newton and Gabbert in particular, and Jake Locker that not only will make people miss and avoid people, but they can run and keep defenses out of certain coverages, which is quite the trait to have. And they can pick up first downs with their legs, keep the chains moving." Need more..? "And Cam Newton - that's plutonium-grade raw material, you know? I haven't seen upside like with this guy in probably the last 10 years."

8 Tennessee Titans - Nick Fairley DT Auburn*

Just seems more and more likely.

9 Cleveland Browns - J.J. Watt DE Wisconsin*

Most often viewed as a 5 tech, I think Watt also makes for an ideal LDE or strongside DE, occasionally rushing from inside and capable of being productive for a long time.

10 Washington Redskins – Julio Jones WR Alabama*

Jones is a top ten talent and shouldn’t get past the Skins.

11 Houston Texans - Prince Amukamara CB Nebraska

Back to back CBs seems excessive but the Texans gradually lost confidence in Jackson last season, limiting his playing time eventually. A bounce back season is possible for him but can the Texans take that chance?

12 Vikings trade to the New England Patriots for their #17 and #60 - Tyron Smith OT USC*

The Patriots might want to get ahead of Detroit to get their new LT.

13 Detroit Lions – Anthony Costanzo OT Boston College

Lions can’t really pass up a possible future long term starter at LT.

14 St. Louis Rams - Corey Liuget DT Illinois*

Generating quite a bit of buzz and might go higher than this.

15 Miami Dolphins - Mike Pouncey OG Florida

Dolphins weren’t stout inside last season and Sparano is committed to running the ball for as long as he’s in Mia(1 more year). High to take a OG but without a 2nd rounder to leverage they could be stuck and the Giants would pounce (:o) on him if they attempted to trade down and still get him. New slogan at Sun Life will be “Luck in 12’”

16 Jacksonville Jaguars - Aldon Smith DE Missouri*

Wasn’t too long ago that Smith was getting buzz as a top ten pick. In this DE heavy draft it’s more than possible he’ll be on the board at 16.

17 Minnesota Vikings trade to the Kansas City Chiefs for #21 and #118 - Ryan Kerrigan DE Purdue

I think the Chiefs would try to get ahead of the Bucs to make a move for a DE/OLB like Kerrigan if he got past the Jaguars.

18 San Diego Chargers - Cameron Jordan DE California

If he makes it down here it would be the steal of the first round.

19 New York Giants - Gabe Carimi OT Wisconsin

It’s about time to upgrade McKenzie, isn’t it?

20 Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Akeem Ayers OLB UCLA*

With Morris wanting to use more 34 looks to go along with the base 43 I can’t see a prospect that fits as well in that scheme as Ayers. As for Bowers, if he’s still on the board, I’m not sure the reward outweighs the risk. Can the Bucs afford to invest in another first round defensive lineman who may not light it up as expected?

21 Minnesota Vikings - Ryan Mallett QB Arkansas*

Vikings trade down a couple times, add picks, and still land their man. Kerry Collins v2 should end up a steal if he gets better protection than Farve got.

22 Indianapolis Colts – Nate Solder OT Colorado

Colts are in a good position to draft a high upside Olineman like Solder and let him develop rather than start him right away.

23 Philadelphia Eagles – Derek Sherrod OT Mississippi State

Reid should be looking for a long term replacement on the right side in the first round.

24 New Orleans Saints - Da’Quan Bowers DE Clemson*

Unless Bowers knee is finished the Saints can’t really get any better than this pick. DC Williams prefers the traditional 43 base ends to the smaller quicker types and he fits.

25 Seattle Seahawks – Jimmy Smith CB Colorado

Carroll is the kind of coach that could buy into a guy like Smith. Rather than reaching for an offensive lineman or QB the Seahawks try for a steal here with Smith.

26 Baltimore Ravens – Cameron Heyward DE Ohio State

Unless Ijalana dazzles at his pro day and convinces them he can play LT, I think Heyward is a safe bet here.

27 Atlanta Falcons - Len Hankerson WR Miami

A slight reach but Leonard has generated a lot of buzz this post season and imo is the kind of hard working, productive guy the Falcons would covet. A sneaky productive type like Amani Toomer or Reggie Wayne imo.

28 New England - Muhammad Wilkerson DE Temple*

You just don’t find many 6’4 315 guys that can move like this guy. Reminds me of Trevor Pryce.

29 Chicago Bears - Marvin Austin DT UNC

Mayock came out of the UNC pro day declaring that Austin won’t make it out of the first round. Kind of left field so I’ll speculate he got word a team or two is very interested. I’ll buy in.

30 New York Jets - Phil Taylor DE Colorado

I think Taylor will make a better 34 DE than NT but it’s a good fit for the Jets, especially the beard.

31 Pittsburgh Steelers – Ben Ijalana OT/G Villanova

The type the Steelers collect.

32 Green Bay Packers trade to the Tennessee Titans for #39 and #109 - Christian Ponder QB Florida State

Titans might want to get ahead of the Bengals to get their QB. Ponder reminds me of a poor mans Steve Young and could be a steal.

SECOND ROUND

33. New England Patriots(f/CAR) – Dan Watkins OG/C Baylor
Supremely solid fit.

34. Buffalo Bills – Jarvis Jenkins DE Clemson

Under the radar guy who reportedly is drawing some buzz and will not get out of the second round per Mayock.

35. Cincinnati Bengals – Mark Ingram RB Alabama*

Kind of sickening if the Bengals could pull both Green and Ingram.

36. Denver Broncos – Stephen Paea DT Oregon

A good bet here imo unless he goes in the first.

37. Cleveland Browns – Greg Little WR North Carolina

One of my favorite guys who is finally getting some pub per Charlie Casserly.

38. Arizona Cardinals – Kyle Rudolph TE Notre Dame*

39. Green Bay Packers – Jabaal Sheard OLB/DE Pittsburgh

Like Kevin Greene has never thrown a guy threw a window.

40. Dallas Cowboys – Marcus Gilbert OT Florida

If they don’t go OT in the first, they have to get the best on the board in the second.

41. Washington Redskins - Colin Kaepernick QB Nevada

Cannon arm, elite straight line speed, smart, accurate on the run. Perfect project for Shanahan & Son.

42. Houston Texans – Brooks Reed OLB Arizona

43. Minnesota – Rodney Hudson OG/C Florida State

Improving the interior of the O line should be high priority with a young QB, especially one who moves like a batting cage. Baldinger.

44. Detroit Lions – Ras I Dowling CB Virginia

45. San Francisco 49ers – Bruce Carter OLB North Carolina

If Harbaugh gambles on a risky player in the first I think he’ll come back in the second with as blue chip a guy as he can get. Carter was first round talent and would have drawn interest from 34 teams as well because of his versatility.

46. Denver Broncos (F/MIA) – Adrian Clayborn DE Iowa

Probably too good to pass up here but I do think Clayborn will see a freefall out the first.

47. St. Louis Rams – Aaron Williams FS/CB Texas*

48. Oakland Raiders – Marcus Cannon OT TCU

This guy has got to be on Al’s WWII radar.

49. Jacksonville Jaguars – Torrey Smith WR Maryland*

50. San Diego Chargers – Jon Baldwin WR Pittsburgh*

51. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Justin Houston DE Georgia*

52. New York Giants – Christian Ballard DT Iowa

53. Indianapolis Colts – James Brewer OT Indiana

Colts could double up on blue chip OTs since Diem disappointed and Johnson is not a pure one and they’re about to pay a king’s ransom to their HOF QB. ..and the running game regressed.

54. Philadelphia Eagles – Brandon Harris CB Miami*

I like him but he reminds me too much of Eric Wright.

55. Kansas City Chiefs – Greg Salas WR Hawaii

56. New Orleans Saints trade to the Carolina Panthers for their #65 and #98 – Jake Locker QB/S Washington

Panthers might pass on Gabbert/Newton but probably don’t want to go into the season with just Clausen/Pike. Locker’s a project with as much upside as the top two guys and probably a better prospect in the second than Jimmy was.

57. Seattle Seahawks – Will Rackley OG/T Lehigh

58. Baltimore Ravens – Chris Carter OLB Fresno State

59. Atlanta Falcons – Titus Young WR Boise State

60. Minnesota Vikings – Rahim Moore FS UCLA

A steal for whoever gets him in the second-immediate starter.

61. San Diego Chargers (F/NYJ) – Kelvin Sheppard ILB LSU

62. Chicago Bears – James Carpenter OT Alabama

63. Pittsburgh Steelers – Curtis Brown CB Texas

64. Green Bay Packers – Clint Boiling OG Georgia

THIRD ROUND

65. New Orleans Saints – Quan Sturdivant LB North Carolina

66. Cincinnati Bengals – Andy Dalton QB TCU

67. Denver Broncos – Marcus Gilchrist FS/CB Clemson

68. Buffalo Bills – Dontay Moch OLB Nevada

69. Arizona Cardinals – Orlando Franklin OG Miami

70. Cleveland Browns – Kenrick Ellis DT Hampton

71. Cleveland Browns – Johnny Patrick CB Louisville

72. New Orleans Saints (F/WAS) – Allen Bailey DT Miami

73. Houston Texans – Randall Cobb WR Kentucky*

74. New England Patriots (F/MINN) – Sam Acho DE/OLB Texas

75. Detroit Lions – Mason Foster LB Washington

76. San Francisco 49ers – Devon House CB New Mexico State

77. Tennessee Titans – Martez Wilson LB Illinois*

78. St. Louis Rams – DeMarco Murray RB Oklahoma

A reach to some but I think he compliments Jackson better than a lot of the others.

79. Miami Dolphins – Ryan Williams RB Virginia Tech*

I’m buying in that after a strong pro day he’s being looked at more like the guy from 09.

80. Jacksonville Jaguars – Greg Jones LB Michigan State

81. Oakland Raiders – Curtis Marsh CB Utah State

Woodson’s son.

82. San Diego – Tandon Doss WR Indiana*

83. New York Giants – Colin McCarthy OLB Miami

84. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Shareece Wright CB USC

85. Philadelphia Eagles – Jaiquawn Jarrett SS Temple

86. Kansas City Chiefs - Jason Pinkston OT Pittsburgh

87. Indianapolis Colts – Taiwan Jones RB Eastern Washington

88. New Orleans Saints – Mikel Leshoure RB Illinois*

89. San Diego Chargers (F/SEA) – K.J.Wright LB Mississippi State

90. Baltimore Ravens – Ed Gates WR Abilene Christian

91. Atlanta Falcons – Lance Kendricks TE Wisconsin

92. New England Patriots – Jordan Todman RB UConn*

Starting to see some Pierre Thomas in him.

93. Chicago Bears – Stefan Wisniewski C/OG Penn State

94. New York Jets – Bruce Miller OLB UCF

95. Pittsburgh Steelers – Virgil Green TE Nevada

96. Green Bay Packers – Cecil Shorts WR Mount Union

97. Carolina Panthers – Jurrell Cassey DT USC*

103. Arizona Cardinals – Rock Carmichael CB Virginia Tech

104. Philadelphia Eagles (F/WAS) – Daniel Thomas RB Kansas St*

105. Houston Texans – Ian Williams NT Notre Dame

106. Minnesota Vikings – Terrell McClain DT USF

107. Detroit Lions – Zach Hurd OG UConn

108. San Francisco 49ers – Sione Fua NT Stanford

109. Green Bay Packers – Jerrel Jernigan WR Troy

110. Dallas Cowboys – Cedric Thornton DE Southern Arkansas

111. Miami Dolphins – D.J.Williams TE Arkansas

112. St. Louis Rams – Austin Pettis WR Boise State

113. Oakland Raiders – Doug Hogue OLB Syracuse

114. Jacksonville Jaguars – Jeron Johnson SS Boise State

115. San Francisco 49ers (F/SD) – Derrick Locke RB Kentucky

A steal. He’ll light it up as a rookie.

116. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Jordan Cameron TE USC

117. New York Giants – John Moffitt OG/C Wisconsin

118. Minnesota Vikings – Joe Lefeged S Rutgers

119. Indianapolis Colts – Drake Nevis DT LSU

125. New England Patriots – Chris Culliver FS/CB South Carolina

126. New York Jets – Maurice Hurt OG Florida

127. Chicago Bears – Quinton Carter S Oklahoma

128. Pittsburgh Steelers – Jerrell Powe NT Mississippi

129. Green Bay Packers – Lawrence Guy DE Arizona State*

130. Tennessee Titans - Robert Sands SS/OLB Virginia*

131. Green Bay Packers – Brandon Burton CB Utah*

FIFTH ROUND

132. Carolina Panthers - Ron Johnson WR USC

133. Buffalo Bills – Willie Smith OT East Carolina

134. Cincinnati Bengals – Justin Boren OG Ohio State

135. Kansas City Chiefs (F/DEN) – Dexter Larimore NT OSU

136. Arizona Cardinals – Akeem Dent ILB Georgia

137. Cleveland Browns – Shane Vereen RB California*

Def a steal but the RB class is pretty deep and there’ll be some good backs available in the mid rounds.

138. Houston Texans – Adrian Taylor DE Oklahoma

139. Minnesota Vikings – Chykie Brown CB Texas

140. Kansas City Chiefs (F/DET) – Ray Dominguez OG Arkansas

141. San Francisco 49ers – Adrian Moten OLB Maryland

The more I read and see of Moten I think with some added pounds he could be a solid 34 OLB-maby I’m crazy.

142. Tennessee Titans – Demarcus Love OG Arkansas

143. Dallas Cowboys – Dejon Gomes S Nebraska

144. Washington Redskins – Jaquizz Rodgers RB Oregon State*

The official steal of the draft if Shanahan gets hold of this guy.

145. St. Louis Rams – Jermale Hines SS Ohio State

146. Miami Dolphins – Brandon Fusco C Slippery Rock

147. Jacksonville Jaguars – Ryan Hill CB Miami

148. Oakland Raiders – Julius Thomas TE Portland State

149. Philadelphia Eagles (F/SD) – Brandon Hogan CB West Virginia

150. Minnesota Vikings (F/NYG) - Greg Romeus DE Pittsburgh

151. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Casey Matthews ILB Oregon

152. Indianapolis Colts – Pernell McPhee DE Mississippi State

153. Philadelphia Eagles – TJ Yates QB UNC

I’ve been liking this guy before the buzz. Sort of reminds me of Hasselbeck. Maby it’s his dome.

154. Detroit Lions (F/KC) – Denarius Moore WR Tennessee

155. Washington Redskins (F/NO) – Andrew Jackson OG Fresno State

156. Seattle Seahawks – Jabara Williams OLB Stephen F. Austin

157. Seattle Seahawks (F/BAL) – Ricardo Lockette WR Fort Valley State

My top late round sleeper.

160. Chicago Bears – Vincent Brown WR San Diego State

161. New York Jets – Alex Henery K Nebraska

162. Pittsburgh Steelers – Byron Maxwell FS/CB Clemson

Not in love with it but I could live with that Phins draft.

I'm not totally sure about Miller over Peterson, but I think I would be happy with that draft class.

I like this mock for the skins.....I think I prefer Dalton to Kaepernick....but overall without the skins trading down in the first round (which i think is highly likely scenario that they will) I would be happy with this mock

pretty sweet job on the saints although I do have a few comments

I doubt the trade would happen since the panthers are also nfc south but I actually like it.

Love bowers as a pikc
Love the Sturdivant pick
Im okay with Bailey there out of value but I really dont like bailey in a 43
Plz change LeShoure to Todman if you insist on going running back, LeShoure is a very bad fit in the saints offense. You better just go front 7 defensively but if you insist on going tailback at least get someone that would be able to sub in for an injured bush or pierre thomas, not a back that needs 20 touches a game to function at his best cuz no saints back would get that many touches.
Nate Irving over Ross Homan please but thats just a value thing, the pick is not bad.

Overall I really like your effort on the saints.
Just for reference I would go at the different spots:
1 DaQuan Bowers
3a Martez Wilson
3b Mason Foster
3c Jurrell Casey
4 Jeron Johnson

while i love every giants pick, and lefeged sky rocketing to the 4th, the reasoning for the Carimi pick is awful. McKenzie was OUTSTANDING last year. Carimi would either play LG or move Diehl inside to LG and play LT
or be McKenzie's replacement due to age, not preformance

Right. And right. :)

Skins are taking the best DL/OLB available if they are indeed able to trade down, which I'd put at 75% chance of happening right now.

I would be fine with this draft for the Bengals but i don't the Bengals would pass on Cam Newton if he is there. Marvin Lewis came out reacently saying that Cam Newton has it.

I think I just puked at Newton going to the 49ers,really bro?No way in hell it happens.UNLESS our other 4 big guys are we could pick over Newton. The only thing I am worried about Newton is what will he do once he get paid and how well is going to be a TEAM player and run an offense.Tho I guess if it was BPA then why the hell not.

Love the Vikings trades. Not sure about Ryan Mallett, character concerns seem pretty serious to Frazier with his QB.

Actually I've thought about it more, and you know what would make me happier? Allen Bailey in the 3rd. That gives us a pair of versatile DE/DT's to fill out the line beside Paea. If one of them works out, great. If both work out then our line is set for a looooong time.

Our secondary can muddle through with what it's got if we can bottle up the run and finally get some pressure on the QB.

The Falcons don't address anything on defense until the 5th round? Two wide receivers in 1 and 2? I don't like it.

I can almost guarantee that Ozzie trades up to 22 or 23 to take Da'Quan Bowers. That would be a very Ozzie kind of move to trade up a couple of picks to take a player who has fallen further than expected.

If we were to stay at 26, I think that Wilkerson is probably a touch more likely than Heyward should we take a 5-tech

The 2nd round is too high for Chris Carter IMO. I'd think that Titus Young is the better value here.

Stefan Wisniewski's talent would be too hard to pass up at pick 90. I'd think we take him over Gates.

Carter over Burton, especially seeing as how you have us taking a WR the round before and both are kind of developmental WRs

I like the Stingily pick at the end of the 5th. I doubt we draft Chekwa with 165 though. Our FO has said that they dont value mid round CBs much as they dont believe that they develop into much. Also we've drafted something like 5 corners in the past 10 years, making CB and even less likely pick.

I've read he's not rated that high by some and he didn't have a strong pro day. Also saw something about med concerns with him.

This is a good Lions mock. Really like Foster in the third and it hits the major needs.

Like the Niners draft a lot. All major needs addressed with players who (I think) fit what Harbaugh is going to try and build.

Newton is an interesting choice at QB, but I do kinda think that Harbaugh might really like him. We're talking about a coach who, I think, really believes he can get the best out of his QBs, and Newton's "best" is scary-good.

The Patriots aren't going to give Minnesota 17+60 for 12. It's better value for both sides if it's 17+74 (which was minnesota's pick from Randy Moss lol)

6 Browns trade to the Dallas Cowboys for their #9 and #71 - Patrick Peterson CB/FS LSU*

Been hearing rumors of this trade and I’m starting to think it’s possible.

Give the Phins a QB in either Round 1 or 4 instead of one of the OL and it would be a MUCH better draft. I wouldn't hate it either way, but I feel we HAVE to get a QB at some point in the first 5 rounds.

I just don't see Dallas moving up in round 1. They will move down if they make any kind of move.

I LOVE the two 1st round trade downs, but i hate the Mallet pick.

I'm not totally sure about Miller over Peterson, but I think I would be happy with that draft class.

I don't see Denver drafting a SLB at #2. I like Miller, but I think he's destined for the 3-4.

Still not very good for Oakland, outside of Cannon.

I do agree that he's a far better 3-4 prospect, but I really really like Miller and I think that skews my thinking a bit. ;) I would want him to work for my team somehow even though the fit doesn't seem to be there.

His quote versus his actions...

Newton is the only player that the 49ers either didn't have a contingent for at their Combine or invite in for a private workout.

Either the quote or the workout snub is a smokescreen.

I'd say the workout snub. I know they haven't had him for a visit but it could be a Kansas City shuffle. Recent rumors say there's a chance they could move up to Denver's pick. Most assume it would be for Peterson but wouldn't it be interesting if it's for one of the QBs?

I like the Packers mock, I do see it possible that the Packers take 2 WRs in this draft.... but I feel like Shorts and Jernigan are almost the same sort of players??? Correct me if I am wrong, but they are sort of both shifty slot recievers who could help in the return game.

The Packers typically don't draft WRs under 6'0, the only exception being Jennings at 5'11, so I think Austin Pettis who was still available in your mock would make more sense then Jernigan because him and Shorts are too much alike.

I also see your as high as I am on Greg Salas, I am hoping the Packers can get him at 64 or even the 3rd hopefully.

And Driver! :) Shorts is about the same size as Jennings but generally listed at 6'0 and he is a bit bigger/stronger than Greg. He's a guy projected both in the slot or outside and not considered a burner...although he lit UP his pro day.

Jernigan is a guy I'm not high on even though a lot of projections say he'll not make it out the second round. He is a burner but pretty small so almost strictly a slot guy. I only saw one game of his but was expecting to see a Steve Smith/Harvin type guy, but came away disappointed. He's not near as shifty or elusive as he's made out to be to me. Here's a scout that basically thought the same...(Jags)Mike Thomas went in the fourth and was a better football player. For a little guy, I wish he were more explosive and shifty...I know he had some injuries this year so maby chalk it up to that because some are really high on him.

I think the league is high on Salas. His style seems to suit Haley and the Chiefs and I think he goes there but his stock is rising for sure. There's a bunch of teams at the end of round 2 that might be looking for a WR so jmo GB would be fortunate if he's still there.

Love the Vikings trade downs and the Mallett pick. Not a fan of the Hudson pick and I don't see it happening. Frazier wants a power run blocking scheme, and our OL have always been bigger guys, not exactly Hudson and the 280 pounds that he played at or even the 299 he showed up to the combine at. Moore is a great pick. Sione Fua would be a much better pick with our 4th, we need a NT not an UT where we have Kevin Williams who is the best UT in the league, where as Pat Williams is as good as gone. I wouldn't mind it, but I don't see us taking 2 S that early. A CB like Culliver or Burton, or a WR would be much more likely there. Brown is ok since you haven't had us take a CB yet, and Romeus is perfect, if he can stay healthy it's a total steal.

Overall a pretty good Vikings mock, a couple unlikely picks in there but overall I'd be very happy with that mock.
