Draft take 2 …. With some trades….Lots actually. No FA means teams will trade up & down more than previous.
TRADE – Bengals trade No 4 & there 2011 2nd & 2012 2nd round pick to Panthers
1 Bengals Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri.
With no FA, the Bengals trade up & Gabbert is the pick here. He replaces an unhappy Palmer who wants out of Cinci.
2 Broncos Marcell Dareus, DE, Alabama.
They need muscle & size up front, and Dareus brings both. Probably the easiest slam dunk pick in the 1st round.3.
3 Bills Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M.
Miller should be the pick, and probably will be, but Cam Newton is still on the board and wouldn’t surprise to see Cam being taken here. But Fitzpatrick had a pretty decent year last year & has shown enough to warrant the start in 2011.
4 Panthers AJ Green, WR, Georgia.
I have Green going here because IMO they should give Clausen another shot. To discard a 2nd round pick after 1 year is a waste. If he still comes up short, then they will be picking 1st next year, and they can pick the best QB.
TRADE – Cowboys trade No 9 & 2011 3rd rounder to Arizona for No 5.
5 Cowboys Patrick Peterson, CB/S LSU.
DE is also a need, but Peterson is the target of the Cowboys. He is a certain starter in an average secondary & can make the team contenders in one pick.
6 Browns Robert Quinn, DE, Nth Carolina.
The Browns are in need of a rushing DE, and Quinn fills that void. They may take Julio Jones, but I think DE is a bigger issue.
Trade – Texans trade No 11 & 2011 3rd rounder to 49ers for No 7
7 Texans Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
Knowing that the Cards want a CB, the Texans trade up to jump in front & grab the best available. The Texans secondary is horrible, and Prince is an instant starter.
8 Titans Cam Newton, QB. Auburn.
Their offence is geared for a Young/Vick styled QB, and Newton would keep the Titans offence going pretty well. They need a WR, as well as DL, but Newton would step in and start.
Trade – Vikings trade No 12 & 4th round pick to Cards for 2011 No 9
9 Vikings Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas.
QB is the biggest need in Minnesota, and they trade up to get Ryan Mallett knowing that the Cards & 49ers need a QB. Mallett is the best available.
10 Redskins Julio Jones, WR, Alabama
The skins will be jumping out of their skin when Jones falls to them at 10. The most athletic & dynamic WR in the draft gives them a legit No 1 that they haven’t had in years.
11 49ers DeQuan Bowers, DE Clemson
His stock has dropped but he is too good to pass up by the 49ers.
12 Cardinals JJ Watt, DE, Wisconsin
Pass rusher & high motor. Will start straight away at DE and allows the Cards to play either 34 or 43. Replaces an aging Joey P.
13 Lions Tyron Smith, LT USC.
So, how much longer are the Lions going to ignore the health of Stafford? There not, and Smith goes to Detroit.
14 Rams Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue
They need a WR, but there are none worth picking at 14. Kerrigan would team nicely with Chris Long at DE, and would provide an excellent supporting rushing end.
TRADE – Chargers trade 18th & there 1st 2nd rounder (pick 50) & flip 3rdpics to Miami for 15
15 Chargers Cameron Jordan, DE, Cal
Chargers jump up a couple of spots to grab the best rushing DE/ OLB left. The Chargers need rushing help, and he steps in. A player who can get to the qb, he is a great fit here. And have an extra 2nd rounder, so they trade up
16 Jags Aldon Smith, OLB, Missouri
The There are a few teams around them that need similar players. Smith is a high energy LB.
17 Pats Corey Luiget, DT, Illinois
Drops a few spots but a solid pick for the Pats. Had a breakout year & will be a success in Boston.
Trade – Saints trade 24 & 1st 3rd rounder to Miami for 18
18 Saints Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama
Reggie Bush is not a fulltime RB. Ingram carries the load which allows Bush to be a wr/rb
19 Giants Anthony Castonzo, OL, BC
A need for the Giants, plus one of the best available. They need RB help, but will wait till the 2nd or 3rd rounds to address that spot.
20 Bucs Akeem Ayers, DE/OLB UCLA
Defence defence defence. Ayers is a dynamic rushing end and would be a great fit in the Bucs.
21 KC Phil Taylor, NT, Baylor
A big need. He is a dominating NT and would be a great selection for the Chiefs.
Trade – Bears trade 29th pick & 3rd (93rd) pick to Indy for 22nd pick
22 Bears Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisonsin.
The Bears really need help on the OLine, and he is not far behind Castonzo in ability.
Trade – Titans trade 2nd, 3rd & 5th round picks with Philly for 23rd pick
23 Titans Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn.
Character issues cause him to free fall, and having grabbed Newton with there 1st pick, they grab Fairley as well.
24 Miami Mike Pouncey, G, Florida
Pouncey could have gone to Miami at 15, but they grabbed extra picks & still got him at 24.
25 Seattle Jake Locker, QB, Washington.
Big armed qb, but with baggage. Seattle need to invest in a qb early and it’s either him or Kaepernick. Seattle have RB needs as well.
26 Ravens Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado
Most of there CB’s are FA this year, and Smith has good size & speed. Ravens must look to replace Ed Reed soon.
27 Falcons Cam Heyward, DE, Ohio State
The falcons wet themselves. Terrific footballer who will be a great DE in this team. Groomed to replace John Abraham.
28 Pats Derek Sherod, OL, Miss St.
The Pats addressed the DL in the 1st, now grab Sherod with another 1st round pick. This team can do no wrong when it comes to the draft.
29 Colts Nate Solder, OL Colorado.
The Colts add O Line help whist grabbing an extra 3rd. Solder is a great pick at 29.
30 Jets Justin Houston, OLB, Georgia
JT is gone, Gholston was a bust & they need a rushing OLB. Houston just might be a great pick at 30 for the Jets.
31 Steelers Muhammad Wilkerson, DT/DE, Temple
The Steelers love defence, & Wilkerson could be a solid player for the Steelers.
32 Packers Aaron Williams, S, Texas
The BPA, possibly, but also a solid tackler. They look at RB as well, but Williams slips in.
ROUND 2
Trade – Falcons trade 2nd (59), 3rd (136) & switch 4th/5th picks to Pats for 33
33. Falcons Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame
The Falcons need a TE to replace Gonzalez. Knowing the Bills want a TE, they grab the best in the draft.
34 Bills Ben Ijalana, LT, Villanova
A solid LT/G boosts an average front and undersized front 5.
35. Panthers (From Bengals) Stephen Paea, DT Oregon.
Defence is a need as they were pretty horrible last year on both sides. Paea is as strong as an ox.
Trade – Miami trade 2nd (50) & 3rd (82) to Denver for 36
36 Miami Colin Kaepernick, QB, Nevada
Another 2nd rounder! Yep, but he is more dynamic than Pat White & may actually start. Better then Thigpen who is now trade bait.
Trade – 49ers trade 2nd (45) & 4th (106) to Browns for 37
37 49ers Christian Ponder, QB, Florida.
QB is another big need with Smith being a bust. Ponder has the smarts to run an improving 49ers offence.
38 Cards Marcus Cannon, G, TCU,
Massive road grader and immeadiately upgrades the Cards front line.
39 Philly (from Titans) Rahim Moore, S, UCLA
A big need and a ballhawk. Philly’s 1st pick is a solid one.
40 Cowboys Danny Watkins, G, Baylor
The cowboys address another need and although Centre is probably a bigger need, guard is a need for dallas.
41 Redskins Ricky Stanzi,QB, Iowa
The Skins need a qb, and Stanzi is a solid QB with smarts. Played against good defence and should push for starting spot in DC.
42 Texans Titus Young, WR, Boise St
Andre Johnson needs someone opposite, and Young is the player to do that. More than decent speed and good hands, steps in & plays.
43 Vikes Randall Cobb, WR, Kentucky
Is Sidney rice healed? Time will tell, but he can certainly help.
44 Lions Adrian Clayborne, DE Iowa
Helps the defence immensely and is a great addition in the 2nd round.
45 Browns Brandon Harris, CB, Miami
The browns need more 2ndary help, and after getting Quinn in the 1st, they look to Harris at CB.
46 Broncos Jabaal Sheard, DE/OLB, Pitt
More defence for theBronco’s. Will add sting to the OLB spot & will team well with Dareus
47 Rams Jonathon Baldwin, WR, Pitt
The Rams really need a WR, had a solid but not great college career. Size & speed are positives.
48 Raiders Ras I Dowling, CB, Virginia The raiders 1st pick & they don’t blow it. Huff and Asom may be gone, so they need to find a replacement.
49 Jags Leonard Hankerson, WR, Miami
MSW may be gone & a big body replacement is needed. Good speed & hands.
50 Broncos Martez Wilson, ILB, Illinois
Still on defence, has good size & speed and upgrades an average LB corp in Denver
51 Bucs Lance Kendricks, TE, Wisconsin
They need a TE to replace the body broken Winslow. Kendricks is a great catcher of the ball & will be a solid pro.
52 Giants Mikel LeShoure, RB, Illinois
The G men’s running game needs a kick along and Bradshaw is a FA. LeShoure is the 2nd best runner in the draft
53 Colts Torrey Smith, WR, Maryland
Fast, ok size, goodish hands. Groomed to replace Reggie Wayne. Gonzalez health an issue too.
54 Eagles Stefan Wisniewski, C, Penn
Eagles need a true centre, and he is the best in the draft. May play Guard till he adapts to nfl
55 KC Dontay Moch, OLB, Nevada
Great combine lifted his ratings and has great speed. Will fit nicely in the KC defence.
56 Saints Jerrell Powe, DT, Ole Miss
The defence was shown up in the playoff loss, and Powe could really help an aging front line.
57 Seattle Ryan Williams, RB, VT The seattle running game is in need of a boost, & Williams although he had a average finish to his college career could be a good pick here
58 Ravens Greg Little, WR, NC
Has baggage, but big ability. Newsome doesn’t miss in the draft generally, and he wont miss on a big WR
59 Pats - Atlanta Brookes Reed, DE, Arizona
Another defensive player for the Pats. Helps at OLB or DE.
60 Pats Edmund Gates, WR Alb/Chr
The Pats need WR’s and there are a few left that could go this high. Lots of upside & BB has a knack for bringing the best out of players.
61 Chargers Quan Sturdivant, ILB, NC
Brings speed & tackling ability to the chargers ILB corp.
62 Bears Allan Bailey, DE, Miami
Could well be a steal at 61 to the Bears. Can get to the qb, and will compliment peppers
63 Steelers Clint Boling, OG. Georgia
A 4 year starter & would make a solid guard in the pro’s. Steelers need a bit more up front and Boling is a solid pick.
64 Packers Sam Acho, OLB Texas.
Will help the LB corp of the Pack. Makes it one of the best in the league
Round 3
65 Panthers Orlando Franklin, OT/OG Miami
Brings size & ability to a Panthers team that is rebuilding across the board
66 Bengals Rodney Hudson, OG, Florida St
Great addition here for the Bengals. Helps there O line for years to come and protects Gabbert
67 Broncos Will Rackley, OG, Lehigh
Broncos look to the O line & pick up a high motor player with good upside.
68 Bills Drake Nevis, DT. LSU
Not the biggest but has a good motor & can get to the passer. Solid rotational player for the Bills who again look to defence.
69 Cards Andy Dalton, QB, TCU
Future qb for the Cards. Could have gone higher, but didn’t.
70 Browns Greg Jones, ILB, Michigan
Last defensive player for the Browns. Too good to pass up in the 3rd.

72 Miami/NO Taiwan Jones, RB, E.wash
Great burst, speed & vision. Miami need speed at RB.

74 Pats Greg Romeus, DE, Pitt

75 Lions Jordan Todman, RB, Conn
