View Full Version : Draft Plans And New Format Thoughts

04-25-2011, 05:13 PM
Does anyone have any plans for the draft? I know people used to and would do certain things like make food, order food, get together or just be alone. Now with the rounds occuring...

Round 1 Thurs., April 28, 8 p.m. ET
Rds. 2-3: Fri., April 29, 6 p.m. ET
Rds. 4-7: Sat., April 30, 12 ET

Everything is kind of messed up and probably ruined alot of your draft rituals now.

It was already talked about before im sure but what are your thoughts on the new format. I dont like it at all and wont. Its stupid.

I think TT and I will be at Buffalo Wild Wings earning our free shirt and having a few beers as well as quite possibly posting.

As far as draft rituals, yeah it did throw a pipe in the works.

Hosting a draft party for the 3rd year in a row.

I wish i was hosting a draft party at 11 am on a saturday to watch the first round.

04-25-2011, 05:52 PM
I liked sitting on my ass all day on Saturday while getting rounds 1, 2, and 3

04-25-2011, 05:55 PM
I have a feeling a solid majority of year-round draftniks dislike it as much as I do. Those Saturdays were awesome man. Why'd they take that away from us?!?!? Why God, why?!?!

04-25-2011, 06:11 PM
I hate it. I will miss the better part of the first 3 rounds.

**** you, Goodell.

04-25-2011, 06:35 PM
I am also against the new format.

I am expecting that it will be a round a day before too much longer.

PF, Drew, Xio and The Dude pretty much sum up my thoughts.

My dad always host a draft party and makes Cincinnati Chili. This year we are going to play poker friday night. It doesn't matter to me about the new format.

04-25-2011, 06:59 PM
I like it.
3 days>2 days.

I still get my lazy Saturday munching on food watching rounds 4-7. And Thursday/Friday doubleheader is awesome. Plus I love the intrigue that will arise between Days 1 and 2 with all the players that dropped and teams maneuvering and resetting their boards.

I hate it because I have been wanting to go to the draft and now it's going to be hard to find a year where I dont have school or work on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

04-25-2011, 08:13 PM
Luckily I'm having a test week so I'll be getting home earlier after school. But I have to study for those tests, so less time to gather information for the draft :(

However I'll be watching the first two days and most of the third day.

The biggest problem with the timing of this year's draft is that it is also Steve Carrell's last episode on The Office.... hooray for DVR.

I am french so 6hrs jet lag

It used to be late at night and it became between midnight and my waking up so it sucks for me and I hate it!

04-26-2011, 11:34 AM
Any of you guys going in person? If so, I will see you there.

04-26-2011, 01:49 PM
I work every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday so i ******* hate this system. I can't take all 3 days off. If it was the old style, i would just take Saturday off and I'm good.

04-26-2011, 01:56 PM
At least, by chance, it doesn't seem like the first rounds will interfere with playoff games, which is nice. Probably just watch at home or hang at a friend's place. Won't see any of day 3.

I expect to see a huge "Hey CJ" or "SWDC" sign.

Not going to class Thursday or Friday.

And I hate the format.

I've been to the last five drafts live and last year's wasn't as good. It seemed that with the effort to make it more of a TV event, the audience was filled with more people associated with the NFL and the networks. A lot of company family members were there for good chunks of the first two days and less people that were actual fans of the draft and/or their teams.

It was really easy to attend as it was very brief compared to the previous years and left lots of time to kill doing other things around town. Still, there was less energy at the event and more people that should have found something better to do with their time in NYC since being there was such a burden for them. They should have made those seats available to actual fans.

I'm sure my wife will be happy with the broken up/shortened format since I will be home this year and won'tspend the entirety of a weekend in front of the tv.

It just dawned on my my son has a T-ball game at 5:30 on Thursday.
I have to be there because I am the coach.
I hope there is a rain-out.

Done. If I can get posterboard in there...
You'll likely see a nfldc sign at pick #2 since I may be with the Broncos fans

Format is garbage.

I have no real plans. Not ordering food this year. Trying to eat healthy again. Just gonna park my ass on the couch and watch the draft on ESPN for three straight days and post on here and another site, that shall not be named. ;) Should be a fun time. Hopefully Jerry doesnt mess this up.

Sounds like you need to chew out the ump and get ejected early.

Count me in the majority. I hate the new format. Thursday night: Steve Carrell's last night on The Office. That is too good to miss and DVR or Hulu. Plus, I may have a paper to write where if it was due on Monday instead of Friday, I could hold off on Saturday. So I hate it.

04-27-2011, 11:22 PM
It's one of my best friend's 21st birthday, so not watching at all is probably the plan. Due to sheer inebriation of course...

04-28-2011, 05:58 AM
No rain out. Looks like I will be missing the first half of round 1.

04-28-2011, 06:11 AM
Happy Draft Day Everybody!

You & TT have a round of disc golf to get in before BW3s?

04-28-2011, 08:28 AM
Hate it...said doesn't matter for some reason, I will be up till like 5/6 if the 1st round takes a long time.

04-28-2011, 08:46 AM

I am the coach of my son's T-ball team and they scheduled a game for 5:30 this evening. I'm not sure if I should be more upset at Goodell for changing the format or at the guy making the T-ball schedule for not being a draft fan.

04-30-2011, 08:08 AM
I hate it even though it is actually better for my sleep patterns.

04-30-2011, 08:33 AM
I wish this was starting at 11. :/
