Who will be this year's Rookie of the Year?
I can't list everybody. I will only go offense for this list.
Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Cases could be made for Mikel Leshoure, Daniel Thomas, Greg Little, Torrey Smith, Titus Young, Andy Dalton, and Colin Kaepernick I reckon.

It's tough for a WR to win the award. Leshoure has a chance to have a monster year in that Lions offense because Jahvid Best can barely handle 100 carries a year.

For offensive I'm guessing Julio Jones. Atlanta might rely on the pass more and more. I don't think it will be a quarterback. No one from this class really impresses me.

The Packer. Definitely the Packer.

All Jake Locker has to do is go out there and throw more touchdowns than interceptions and not look like Jimmy Clausen and he'll have it in the bag. Everyone loves and roots for the guy already, he's certainly not a tough vote. And he has the weapons and more important, the offensive line protection to look respectable as a rookie. Don't flip out, I'm not predicting huge numbers for him...but I think 14 touchdowns against 7 or 8 picks could secure the award for a QB. Dalton could be in the conversation as well...I don't think Ponder wil start enough games if they do bring in a veteran, and Newton has a looooooong way to go with that team.

Offensively, I'm torn btw Locker and Ingram.

Defensively, I'm going with Robert Quinn.

Andy Dalton - Could come in and start right away and play in a very friendly system. I would say Locker but I think he will be a late season starter.

i say Dalton also.

If Roy Helu wins the starting job and Shanny said it's very possible, he has to be a favorite. People don't realize it but even with our weak line Ryan Torrain had games of 100 yards, 172 yards, 125 yards. He had 740 rushing yards despite missing 4 games and not playing the first two because Portis was there. He would have been a 1200+ yard back if he played the whole year. Look at Keiland Williams he got one start and had 89 yards and 2 TD's. I think it's apparent that Shanny is still producing a highly effective running game and Torrain will never stay healthy. He won't break a ton of tackles but Helu has that perfect one cut ability and straight line speed to be a 1,000 yard rusher right away. I'd even put Royster on the look out if he wins the job.

Homer Pick: Andy Dalton- In a scheme that fits him prefect and has the weapons around him

Non Homer Pick: Mikel Leshoure- Think he will have a good year in Detroit and i see Best as a 3rd/Situational back.

Don't sleep on Demarco Murray.

Don't sleep on Demarco Murray.

For ROY? Unless Felix Jones and Tashard Choice both get hurt Murray isn't getting enough touches to be ROY. No doubt he'll make impact plays but unless he has a Devin Hester return type year it's not happening especially since the Cowboys will likely be extremely pass heavy this year.

Mikel LeShoure. No other running back will get the carries and the QBs are in to sucky a situation. I also dont see them taking a wideout unless he gets over 1000 with me feeling pretty sure that LeShoure will get a 1000 yards.

with stats of about 1100 yards and about 8 TDs with a further 150 yards receiver leShoure should be in the running

Julio has the best chance. He is in a good team, with a great QB and doesn't have a lot of pressure on him.

So you're saying there's a big chance he'll be the ORotY...
I see.

Daniel Thomas- Could end up being the feature back for the fins this season. Aged Ricky and injury waiting to happen Ronnie Brown can't be counted on to carry the load.

1.Daniel Thomas RB Mia- Will step in and be the guy right away on a run heavy team.

2.Christian Ponder QB Min/Andy Dalton QB Cin- There is always a QB Bias if any rookie QB plays well they will get it. I think these two guys are the front runners simply because I see them getting the by far most playing time of any rookie QBs.

3.Julio Jones WR Atl- Is in a great situation, and has a good oppurtunity to produce right away. Only reason he is this low is because WR is a traditionally tough transistion.

4.Roy Helu/Evan Royster RB Was- Whichever wins the starting job could have a big year as usual for late round RBs under Shannahan.

5.Mark Ingram RB NO- Would be my favorite to win if he hadn't of landed in such a crowded backfield. It's unclear how many touches he will get right now. But if its around 20 a game I can easily see him take the OROY.

If Locker gets to start day one he could really put up some numbers if not Green or Jones for WR.

SeanTaylorRIP

I don't think Locker will put up big numbers as the Titans are so run heavy and he's a work in progress, but Locker has an edge if the Titans make it to the playoffs. As long as the Titans are winning all he has to do is manage and make some plays with his legs and he'll be an OROY favorite.

Alex Green?

Only feature back on the roster, best back on the roster, going to be running for Shanahan.

Based on talent alone, I'd have to say the easiest choice is AJ Green. Albiet WR is not an easy position to dominate in your first year. Still, I think Green has the talent, and certainly will be getting balls his way.

Greg Little ----- homer pick.

His RAC ability seems ideal for what we're switching to, WCO. As long as McCoy stays healthy and this lockout ends so players can start practicing as a team, I like his chances.

considering what ATL gave up to get him I'd say a LOT of pressure on J. Jones

Jake Locker. Titans have some pretty good weapons around him at WR. And obviously you have Chris Johnson with a solid O-Line as far as I know.

Lance Kendricks is going to surprise a lot of people. Bradford loves his TE's. I can see 60/900/6 for Kendricks. Not sure where that would put him.

I don't think so. That kind of pressure imo is more on the heads of the fans than the player and the organization itself. Of course it brings some added pressure, but he is surrounded by a positive environment that only helps him develop into to his talent. I have more faith in Jones career than in AJ on the lone account of the franchises that drafted them.

You could probably get about 1000-1 odds that TE Lance Kendrick wins the OROY.

Agree. Good WRS, excellant RB, good TE, solid O line. And plenty of smarts about him too.

A smokey just might be Mikel LeShoure.

Ponder just for the situation he'll be put in *cough homer pick cough* Wont put up huge numbers because he wont be asked to do it all. Frazier wants to get back to more 2 TE power running game offense. Ponder just has to manage the game.

Ingram & Locker are out front.....
I'd take Ingram between them for sure, even though I think LeShoure is better and will have a gigantic rookie season for the Lions (1200 yards, 9 TDs).

Ingram could too on that Saints offense, but I think he'll share more carries than LeShoure will because Jahvid Best can't handle many carries.

SeanTaylorRIP
05-10-2011, 08:44 AM
I don't think Ingram will have consistent carries. I still think Pierre Thomas is the starter, Ivory or Hamilton are the power backs, and with Reggie Bush likely gone Ingram will be utilized on passing downs as he's probably the best receiver of all the backs.

ingram is definitely more talented than thomas or ivory..it shouldnt take long for him to show that. im sure the saints are gonna want to use ingram as much as possible
