Based on the past five drafts (excluding 2011 of course). So, that's 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010.

I'm not implying, insinuating, or trying to prove absolutely anything. This is purely for fun, discussion, and the fact that they are intriguing facts (to me at least :P)

Good stuff Goosemahn. Will Mario Williams be playing a 5-tech in their new 3-4 defense is the question. I bet he rotates in and out. That'll be a tricky defense to figure out if they work it right.

Considering the history of 1st round QBs, 8 out of 12 starters actually isn't bad.

And I only consider Russell and Quinn as sure-fire busts.

Leinart has shown some flashes and might actually salvage his career.

The problem with Kiwi and JPP is the depth ahead of them. They'd be starters on pretty much all other NFL teams.

^ Ditto. Thanks MrGoose. ^

The QB failure rate is amazing.
And Matt Ryan making a Pro Bowl was bogus, same with Cutler over Rivers a few years ago.
Vince Young making a Pro Bowl in the AFC with Brady, Manning, Rivers, Big Ben? Really?

The Pro Bowl is *********.

The real problem, especially these days, is that everybody on your two championship teams is indisposed for the Pro Bowl, and that your best and most experienced players will just find an excuse to not attend. So sometimes you get like 7 deep on the pro bowl voting until you can find a guy at that position who will actually attend the event.

That, and the fact that fans get to vote for the honor means it's pretty much meaningless. Fans are incredibly reliable at selecting those players they have heard of, which doesn't necessarily have any relation to the best players.

In regard to the quarterbacks, they do take longer to mature as a rule and tend to play to a later age. With their most productive years often in their 30s. The oldest quarterbacks on your list are 28 I think, and the youngest 23. So the data gets a bit skewed from a positional perspective. Tebow could be a starter this season, with Quinn and Leinart longer shots to eventually start. Only Russell probably is a complete writeoff at this point in time.

The stats for linemen make me feel better about the Seahawks' draft.

Great write up Goose. Awesome work.

Just one correction...I am pretty sure Tyson Jackson isn't starting see as he was a "healthy scratch" for a few games last year. Not 100% sure on that one though...maybe a Chiefs fan can confirm?

You're right, my bad. He lost his starting job to Shaun Smith according to his Rotoworld page. I shall update this.

you left Levi Brown off the probowl list, he made the team in 09 he also is our starting LT so he should be on that list too
