Mizzou quarterback wasn't the first player or quarterback off the board, but he is #1 in Japan. Some Japanese media attended the draft and once the pictures and videos got back to their country apparently there is some Gabbert mania unfolding. Among teenage girls at least. :)

I've expressed my sexual attraction to Blaine Gabbert numerous times.
These are facts.

I'm starting to think 'Natch is a quadruple-amputee who can only type with the boner he gets from Blaine Gabbert.

I thought it was funny. There was a bit in one of his interviews at the draft where the reporter says the Jacksonville fan club in Japan is growing and they try to get him to say hello in Japanese. I wondered wtf that was about at the time.

Well, "Beckham" is a bit of an exaggeration. I just read a clip and it reminded me of when Beckham was big heartthrob in Asia, especially Japan. Gabbert has to do some big things on the field before he would become that popular.

Only with the Japanese schoolgirls in those little plaid skirts. But who needs that anyway?

For real, I feel a little bad for Tyler. He lost the genetic lottery height wise. Just one or two more and he might have a shot at the NFL, but that 6'0/5'11 thing is really going to screw him.

i don't actually need one, i think it's fairly clear that OP is playing fast and loose with reality at this point in a vain, last ditch effort to fellate his favorite player.

Gabbert the next Beckham? I guess in the sense that neither will be great in the NFL I guess so.

At least he landed in a good spot to sit and learn for a year or two.He should be able to do well down in Jacksonville.I was surprised they picked a QB this year so off the radar and so early in the draft.

I was trying to get a rise out of Natch where he didn't take the bait. Gabbert won't be terrible in the league I don't think but he'll never be great. It is a decent situation for him but meh.

Well, being a "pretty good" player and a teen idol worked out O.K. for Beckham. There are worse things that could happen to you.

Pretty sure he has a better chance of reaching that status than the HGH loaded freak who got booed at the draft.

Cam Newton made more money at Auburn than Gabbert will ever make on endorsements.

Dude is gonna win the Head and Shoulders lotto when Polamolu retires. That has to put a dent in the lead Cam has on him. There has to be some kind of quasi *** linked product that would get behind him as well.

Beckham wasn't 'pretty good', he was one of the best players of the last 15 years.

Anyone who actually follows the Jaguars wasn't and shouldn't be shocked we drafted a QB in Round 1.
I love my Jaguars, but the national media and NFL fans for some reason think of David Garrard as a good QB.... He's not.
You want to win 10 or more games and go to the playoffs, he's not your guy... You want to win 7 or 8 games, he's your man.

I'm more surprised they took a developmental QB like Gabbert with Jack Del Rio's job is in the balance.

I know a lot of people around the country have been bringing that point up, but the fact of the matter is that Jack doesn't have any say in who we pick.
GM Gene Smith makes every pick, they're all his decision.

Exactly. My guess is Del Rio's job is directly tied to how well Gabbert does and it better be early rather than late.
