Lets talk wide receivers!

In an attempt to breath some life back into our small corner of the forums, I'm going to let you all in on my thoughts.

1) Chad's contract isn't up and we know Mike brown is stubborn on trades. So is he going to stay with the team? and if so, will he be the #1 still? I have to imaging yes to both.

2) Simpson blew up at the end of the season. If he's as good as he was in those last two games, there is no reason for him to not be the #2.However, the lock out might seriously hurt his progression. Does anyone else see Simpson falling back into roster limbo?

3) Shipley proved himself as a rookie, something not many WR's can do. Furthermore, he seems like a really good target for Dalton underneath. But I have to imaging that Dalton's lack of arm strength and height takes a lot of the field away from a receiver as short as Shipley, especially since he doesn't have the super speed / separation to compensate for it. Does anyone else see this as a problem?

4) Finally, will AJ Green produce anything at all? Rookie wide receivers have notoriously struggled in the past. Now he's got to get past all the usual stuff with the added weight of a lock out preventing him from preparing and a rookie QB that will no doubt have his own growing pains to go through.

I'm just thinking it's going to be a rough season for these guys.

1. I think Mike and Marvin are both sick of Chad's attitude and off field stuff. Chad is not worth the 6 million contract this year and i would be suprised if he still on the team this year after the CBA is reached.

2. Simpson and Caldwell are both in contract years so i think one will step up and have a good year to get a nice contract in the offseason.

3. Dree Brees is about the same size as Dalton and does not have trouble seeing the field. I am not saying that Dalton is Dree Brees but his size is overblown. I think Shipley will be fine in the offense since it is a short and medium passing game he should have not trouble finding Shipley.

4. AJ Green was one of the most pro ready players in the draft. I think he will be fine his 1st year.

I think this team will end up being a run 1st team any way with a more then likely a Rookie QB starting.

I'm ok with a run first team, I just don't want to watch a "run only" team like we did in 09. As fun as that season was, we saw how far that strategy can take a team; one and done in the play offs.

Despite OCHO contract not being up I see him gone. He is a locker room Cancer that isnt producing anymore. If they can't trade him they will release him.

Green, Simpson, Shipley, Caldwell, Cosby. Possibly Hodge or Whalen.

Green should be able to succeed as a rookie. He'll be one of the few stud WR rookies that can compete week to week.

I honestly can't see any way Ochocinco leaves town. A notoriously cheap owner won't cut him - it makes zero sense. Pick up the option in his contract guarantees he won't be cut. Locking him in at 6M only to cut him instead of allowing him to walk for 3.5M would be the dumbest move ever.

And I'm not sold he's going to have too many teams lining up for his services (and circus act) for 6M plus draft picks as compensation in a trade. I'm still hoping to see him in NE if the price is right, but it seem like a long shot he's anywhere other than Cinci.

Then again, now that he's not asking for a trade Brown may be willing to trade him. Stubborn and cheap. I feel for you Bengals fans.
