Burress, the Giants receiver who pleaded guilty in August 2009 to attempted criminal possession of a weapon, was released from a New York prison today (http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/43291277/). He got about three months of his two-year sentence off for good behavior.

Was it really only 2 years? It seems like he went inside a long time ago. I wish him the best. He made a dumb mistake but I think the DA and judge ignored circumstances and made an example of him.

My wife put it the best way: A guy shot himself and then went to jail for it.
Talk about adding insult to injury. How does it get worst than that?

I keep hearing Philly. Maybe Redskins. Possibly Jets if the R.Moss chase doesn't work out.

Eagles are basically denying interest by talking up Riley Cooper as the #4 'redzone' guy, but if he really impresses who knows.

A dark horse team I like is Minnesota. New England is another out there guess if they're really down on Tate

That's a definite shot in the dark.

He goes to Carolina to give Steve Smith the complement he needs through his own twilight, and to make Cam Newton's life easier. Doesn't need to be a star there, and he'll get to play right away.

Seems like he went in yesterday. Doesn't feel like it's been close to two years.

He's going to Philly. Jacobs is his best friend and has confirmed as much. The Eagles could use him. He wore the hat. The dots have already been connected.

I'd debate that. He is a luxury for us. I'm fully confident in who we currently have in place, but if it helps open up our offense some more I'm all for it. Maybe it can free up Desean/Maclin up to return more kicks, which is something we need.

Edit: It would be an absolute uphill battle for Plax to see the field in Philly. Probably not going to live up to the contract he gets.

If Plax were coming out of prison at age 31, then sure, I think a dozen teams would stupid not to be all over him, but he's 34 and has been in prison for 2 full years. Vick needed a full season just to get into NFL shape and he was 29. When Plax would be expected to be at full speed, he'd be 35. How many WRs are impact players at age 35? Jerry Rice, Tim Brown, Terrell Owens... Anyone else?

He is an obvious upgrade over Jason Avant. They could use him.

Philly makes the most sense. He's exactly what they need, they don't seem to have a bad track record with people coming out of jail, and they have strong leadership to deal with it.

So does Baltimore.

I would love it if Plax is prison-ized.

I completely agree. The market for Plax isn't that large to begin with. He was never a quick/fast player to begin with and with 2 years off he is probably terrible right now. At best he could come in and be a teams #3, and even then he takes reps from a younger player who will be there in 2 years and Plax can't play any special teams.

As a Ravens fan, I don't see the fit anymore. We have Boldin, Mason, and a bunch of young guys we like. I want those guys getting reps instead of a guy who will be gone in a season or 2.

Well hopefully the contract offered to him wouldn't be lucrative. He'd definitely be great for the veteran minimum...which I think he should get for starters. He really doesn't have much to negotiate anyways...since he's about to be 35 and has been in prison for the past two years. Man this guy screwed himself over big time.

No idea if they would be interested, but I think that Plaxico/Texans would be cool.

For the Red Zone threat alone he'd be worth it for Philly. How in the world could you possibly stop Vick, McCoy, Jackson, Maclin, and Plax down there. It would be very difficult.

You guys aren't giving Avant the credit he deserves. He's the slot guy here without question. Plax would be a #4 redzone specialist, and as I said we apparently like Cooper enough in that role to not throw money at Plax. Whoever said that's a shot in the dark, the same can be said about signing Plax.

I know saying Jackson-Maclin-Plax sounds cool but that wouldn't be the pecking order

I don't think Plax is even going to be any good at this point. He's old and has been in prison for 2 years. He will go the way of Marvin Harrison and Torry Holt.

What do you mean?
Is he going to kill someone or get injured and sit on the IR all season?

I wouldn't mind Plax in SF

Wouldn't they just be shooting themselves in the foot with that though?

Plaxico Burress is free? Where can I return the other black men that I paid for? Yes I know I'm being a cheap slave owner but in these economic times you need to save where you can..
