I had 80's day for Senior Week last year and here's what I wore...
Tight black jeans
Grey and Orange Wool Long Sleeve Shirt -- Rolled my sleeves up
Orange Vest
Some big ole' thick sunglasses
Biker gloves with the open ended fingers
Some White High Tops
And I took my long hair and made a mullet
Head bands work too; as do like those stretchy warm up pants and jackets.

Yeah, tight pants, high tops, and some sort of vest should do the trick.

Thats the 70s
Actually it was the 60's, hence all of the tie-die and psychadelic references.
Plus it was mocking James Bond, which came on in the 60's.
Damn I feel old.

Basically, any outfit from The Wedding Singer will work.
