He broke Jason Allen's hip in college.

I guess this redeems him...

Is Brad Cottam still on the Chiefs? They've got the tallest backup TE tandem in the league!

Who knows of Joe Delaney?

Pope's story is a lot less tragic all around than Delaney's. Plus Delaney was a star in the making. To date, this is Popes most news worthy feat.

if you believe in "everything happens for a reason", could this have been the reason for the lockout? ok, now the kid is safe. let's get back to playing some football!

Who knows of Joe Delaney?

First thing I thought of when I realised it was a Chiefs player that saved a boy from drowning. Delaney was a tragic story.

I ALWAYS pick up Leonard Pope in fantasy leagues just to have the consummate glue guy in the locker room.

out of the 10 to 12 people around the pool, she wasn’t sure if anyone knew how to swim

Really now?

Really now?

So not only did the boy who nearly drowned not know how to swim, but the adults who were supervising a kid who couldn't swim that was somehow still allowed to go swimming in a pool didn't know how to either?

I just... I mean how... Why would... How can you... I'm at a loss.

No lady, the miracle isn't how Pope saved your drowning boy. It's how you were even able to figure out how to procreate to begin with.

On the roster but was on IR all of last season.

Great job by Pope...

What is wrong with us? Can we praise this act of kindness and selflessness without trying to compare it with other acts or pointing out that he hasn't done anything?

The guy just saved another human being and the first thing that comes to some people's minds is that this is the only noteworthy thing he has done? Whats up with that?

Good Job Pope.

Sadly, that one isn't that complicated.

This was an awesome, amazing story. Gave me chills, really glad someone had the presence of mind to do this in time.

This is a great story for sure. What is up with Chiefs' TE's saving lives? Tony G saved a man from choking in a restaurant a few years ago.

This.

Some of you really need to put things in perspective.

I hear the boy is turning Catholic because of it. :)

Poor jokes aside.

Well done Pope. Although, this is the first time i have heard anything about him since he got drafted.

We all know the Pope loves little boys...

Seriously though, how can you have a party around a pool and have no one know how to swim? That is just preposterous.

Really all this story makes me think of is the special level of stupid of those involved rather than the act.

Good on Pope for having the initiative to get it done. Shame on all of them for that situation existing.
