Hey guys, I've been in country for a few weeks. It's not bad there's internet, hot food, toilets that flush and best of all it's not 130 in the shade. The weather is pretty awesome this time of year except for the wind. Anyways, just wanted to check in and say hey.

Just in case you get the chance to try, it just so happens that a standard roll of TP fits perfectly inside the end of the 120mm smooth bore barrel of an M1 Abrams.
Don't ask me how I know that - I don't want to have to lie to you, but it looks cool as hell as the burning roll of TP follows steel down range.

I appreciate all the kind words guys. It's Ramadan this month so we're getting a little bit of a breather which is nice. It's been a very busy tough month but it should be more or less downhill from here already.

Props to the guy but **** Downers...sorry, I went a rival high school and still sometimes have some issues with Downers Grove...still not my fault that traffic light decided it was a good idea to turn red...anyways stay safe man, one of my good friends is gearing up to re-deploy to Afghanistan and from the **** I've heard from him and other friends in the military that's one hell of a ****** situation. Thankfully for everyone involved the fighting season's slowing down.

Hearing the word internet in the same conversation as being in a war zone sounds weird to me. I was lucky to get a letter once a week.

What's up everybody, checking in again.
I'm about half way through my trip. Frustrated, exhausted, and ready to come home but we're gonna power through. Fighting a war with a democrat in office is turning out to be more difficult than I thought. Say what you will about Bush, but there was a hell of a lot less bull **** to deal with. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing from a broad perspective, but it's an annoying thing from my seat. Basically another month and we'll pretty much stand down for the winter though. Take it easy fellas.

Well, I'm back home now...sort of. I'm actually stuck in a VA medical center rehabbing from some injuries I sustained in November. I'm getting better and progressing faster than the doc's expected. I should be up and around in no time. The therapy is really boring and it sucks being in the hospital but I'm alive and not in that **** hole of a country anymore, so I can't complain.

Yah, I was actually shot in the head. I know it sounds bad, but I got lucky. I sustained a pretty serious traumatic brain injury/concussion and had to have my right frontal lobe removed. I feel great though and I'm making progress every day. So far, knock on wood, no set backs and everything is going great.

Yup I'm serious. And yes, there is plenty of nerve damage, I'm not able to open my right eye, but the doctor's are confident they can stimulate those nerves and get it to work again when they do my last surgery. Can't complain though, I really don't have any business being alive right now, but I am, so it's not so bad.

It turns out that Ahmed found some armor piercing rounds somewhere that turned my helmet into swiss cheese. The round didn't penetrate my skull but it fragmented and the shrapnel messed me up a little bit.

because its a lot or because its just brutally boring? i can handle the first, i went to prep school for hs and i did more homework a night there then i did a week in college haha boring on the other hand could be a bigger challenge just gotta grind it out i guess.
where you at in the recovery? cant imagine what youre going through man gotta be brutal

i already have my college degree, i applied and got accepted to ocs through a board before i did my contract. i got it into my contract that im 09sierra so i go right from basic to ocs a few weeks later. it guarentees me a shot anyway.

From what I gather, It's a lot of work that 's brutally boring. But that's what life as an officer is like.
I'm still making progress, I have a surgery that can't happen until May to go still, after that I'm basically done just a little more rehab and I should be home free by June.
