i really should let shylo or realitycheck be 'that guy' but frak it. i feel dirty just voting for him but i have a feeling that he's going to have a hell of a season. i hope he proves me wrong.

EJ Manuel - 1

*im not quite as high on luck as others. i really think manuel is going to blow up this season and could be the most impactful QB in college football.

Really?

I'm as big of an FSU fan as you'll ever meet, but in no way has he proven himself to be an all american type player yet.

My vote goes to Andrew Luck.

he hasn't. hmmmm im still thinking about it. i think developing behind ponder gives him a great chance to succeed. tho i also think that jimbo's pro style will limit him a bit. bah. idk. doesnt matter. i just dont want to be the a-hole who votes for some random guy who'll end up on the 2nd team AA. my vote is now pending.

Take that homer hat off, kid!!!lol

a preseason AA is a projection or a guess on how the player will perform in the upcoming season. otherwise you might as well just compile of all the returning all-americans from the previous season and add in a few 2nd and 3rd teamers. change in situation, player development, growth, potential, surrounding talent, etc. all play a role in projecting how good a player will be in the upcoming year - not solely past performances.

he' one of the top 5, mot talented backs in college football, he dominated late last season as a rs frosh and with questions at qb and storm johnson transferring, he will undoubtedly be the focal point of the offense.

Lamar Miller should be one of the top RBs in the ACC this season, but I don't see how nationally he'd be viewed as a 1st team preseason AA after rushing for 600 yards and 6 TDs in 2010.

I think he's a candidate to be an AA at the end of the season, but I don't see how he enters the fall as a potential lock to earn that status.

Other RBs are starting off 2011 with more impressive resumes than Miller, he's just not there yet.

If it's all about resume's, why is Trent Richardson an AA candidate? Were his stats (700 yards, 6.3, ypc 6 TD's vs. 640 yards, 6.0 ypc, 6 TD's) that much more impressive? Or are people voting for him based off the fact that he has immense talent, will be the focal point of his offense this year and has shown flashes of dominance?

BigJohn98
07-02-2011, 09:25 AM
Of course you will say this! you are a Nole.

It doesn't matter if I'm an FSU fan or a Baylor fan. What has Lamar Miller done that is worthy of All-American status? He ran for 646 yards, 6 TDs, and averaged 58.7 yards per game. That's All-American status to you?

Miller is a great talent no doubt, and will be one of the top backs in the ACC, but there's no way he's a preseason All-American. There were better backs who put up way better numbers last year.

draftguru151

James- 7, Lattimore- 6, Miller- 4, Richardson- 3, Hillman- 1

FUNBUNCHER

Last year's production DOES matter, that's why NO TRUE FRESHMAN have ever been picked for a non-freshman, preseason AA team.

I didn't vote for Trent Richardson either, but IMO what Trent did in the SEC is a little more impressive than what Miller did last year for the 'Canes.

I don't really have a big problem with either Miller or RIchardson being preseason AAs, but there are more deserving candidates IMO.

And yeah, I already voted for Lattimore and James.

If playing the inside slot in trips and quads is considered a TE, than my vote is for Michael Egnew. Problem is, Egnew is only a TE in name. He plays basically the same role as Ryan Broyles. Only difference is Egnew is 6'6 235 so they call him a TE. I'm not trying to be old fashioned and yes I realize that TE's in today's spread offenses are in-line less and less. I'm just having a hard time voting for at tight end who never lines up at the position.

It's funny that you're not ready to put Floyd on the list but I'm not ready to place Forston either. Forston showed he can be a force with his strength and quickness later in the season, and he's in much better shape now, but he still has to recover from another injury. He really struggles to break down and tackle and has an inconsistent motor.

Floyd is one of the best DT recruits of all time and did about as well as a true freshman can possibly do. Easley and Howard (if healthy) are also poised for big years but Floyd is the one that's unstoppable.

Crick is a no-brainer and head-and-shoulders above the rest. Worthy and the others mentioned are overrated imo. Forston is a projection same as Floyd, but I'll take Floyd because he's much more talented.

Gilmore gets a vote for homer and hope. He had a great freshman season, but his sophomore campaign was not an improvement. But he obviously has the potential to be the lockdown corner he looked like in 2009, and he's a Gamecock, so I'll put him in there with Kirkpatrick.

I used to be the leader of the Telemaque>Armstrong bandwagon but I've changed my mind. Telemaque has been more consistent but he also hasn't been the playmaker we expected. Ray Ray only needs to take better angles to become a dominant player. Everything I've heard from him in interviews this offseason is promising. it really sounds like he's taking the right approach and I expect him to have a huge year.
