George, 39, earlier this week contacted Falcons general manager Rich McKay, ESPN.com has learned, to inquire about the backup vacancy created by the trade that sent Matt Schaub to the Houston Texans for a package of draft choices. And while it remains a long shot to even suggest that the Falcons actually might consider George, who hasn't been on an NFL roster in three years, McKay apparently didn't dismiss it out of hand.
Just retire already and be done with it!
Any one think its legit?

He easilyyyy had one of the best arms in the history of the NFL. I'd be kinda interested to see what he could do at 39.

probally one of the best arms to ever play the game. It wouldn't be shocking if they gave him a tryout or let him come to camp.

Take a good look at your future JaMarcus Russell. One day, you too will be able to say that you can throw the ball 80 yards downfield to the opposition just like Jeff George once did.

Didn't Oakland sign him at the beginning of last year and cut him soon after?

I wonder who'll play more in '07, Jeff George or Reggie Ball.
If he want's to come back and be some teams 3rd QB I say all the power to him. He's a crafty vet, im sure he could help some way
Nothing new. He tried last year, how'd that work out for him?

Yes. He was signed by the Raiders last off season, but was cut before the season started.
