Clint Eastwood in any of his "Spaghetti Western" movies as they are called, especially Two Mules for Sister Sarah where he has her knock an arrow through his chest to get it out.

For the others, Darth Vader is the quintessential villian, and Commodus is that low-life weasle pathetic-excuse-for-a-human that you love to hate.

He would be up there with one of my favorite villains. Edward Norton did an amazing job on that part. Seriously, among the best acting performances I've ever seen.

ok so they did a couple flashbacks, but the actual movies portrayed him as an eye. if they were to do a prequel movie where he had his body then he maybe could be considered as a good villain.

Rosebud is not really a character, more of a prop. Even though its significance is not that of a prop, an inanimate object cannot be referred to as a character unless its personified in some way or animated.
