View Full Version : All-Conference NFL Teams

So, I had this idea to make All-NFL teams based on conference. I used all six major conferences, combined the Sun Belt and CUSA, MAC and Independents, and WAC and Mountain West into one team, and also gave a team to all others (no college, FCS teams, etc.). I used the ESPN Insider's ranking of the best at each position, so I do disagree with some of the decisions. I'll post each team separately below.

and really this is just me, b/c it is a pet peeve of mine, but when i look at all NFL by college conference and all time teams, I don't include guys who played in another conference at the time. For instance Ray Lewis and Andre Johnson were Big East guys at Miami, not ACC guys. Anyone who played at Nebraska in the past is a Big 12 or Big 8 guy, not a Big Ten guy (which drives me crazy that they named some big ten trophies after Nebraska greats and Penn State greats who were not in the Big Ten when they played).

these things are fun to look at though.

Why do these teams always have unbalanced numbers?

1 QB
1 lineman at each position
5 WRs...

We all like WRs and RBs, but it should be an 11 man unit. Not a 33 man unit, in order to squeeze in as many WRs and/or RBs as possible.

@Keylime

Definitely understand your rant...but to be honest, it would have just piled on so much extra work to try to sift through when what teams were with what conferences....

@halsey

Offensively, I wanted to include enough players to run any type of offense...(five-wide, two TE sets, split backs, wildcat, etc....) You never see more than five offensive lineman on the field unless a lineman lines up as a TE in a goalline spot.

Defensively, I wanted to do the same thing, and I tried (Four LBs, 3 CBs). I really could've added another corner or safety for dime packages, but just the same....it's close enough, I think.

That's why the odd numbers.

I knew someone was going to mention Ndamukah Suh!

ESPN Insider had him rated just ONE spot lower than Ryan Pickett. Honestly, I thought it was a major snub, too, but I made myself stick with their rankings. No question he makes next year's team, me thinks.

nice work here man, IMO All-ACC team is the best. Rivers throwing to Kellen Winslow, Andre & Calvin Johnson, Anquan Boldin, Reggie Wayne and Hakeem Nicks. Are you kidding me?

Defensively, Peppers and Mario rushing off the edge with Raji and Wilfork commanding double teams. Unstoppable.

Ray Lewis at MLB, Beason and Timmons at WLB & SLB, respectively.

Reed and Wilson at the safeties is a nice duo..

Weaknesses would be DeAngelo Hall at corner and Montrae Holland at G.

+rep for putting all this together man.

@ Blackbyrdz

Def. have to agree with you. Far and away the best passing game and defensive line among all the others. I was just amazed with their team. Also interesting that 8 of the players on the team were from that dirty naughty Miami program.
