Is this the end for the ultimate Combine Warrior?

Will he ever get another chance to play in the NFL?

Back-to-back defensive gurus have looked at Gholston and decided he can't play in the NFL: Rex Ryan and now Rod Marinelli.

What's the deal with this guy? He just can't play AT ALL?

Not worth a roster spot, not worth a thread.

Perhaps a player that just fell through the cracks at the collegiate level and when he came to the NFL he couldn't hack it. It's happened before.

He's an athlete, not a football player.

No seriously guys....Just wait until he plays in a 4-3, that's all he needs. He just doesn't fit the 3-4.

Panther fans on another message board were arguing over to pick him up. I don't know why, I know our defensive line is terrible but Gholston has been cut more times than he has sacked the QB.

And some Bears fans here thought he could be a 'contributor'. LOLZ

If Kentwan Balmer can find a third team I don't see why Gholston can't.

Although Balmer has shown much more value as a kick returner.

With that body, Gholston will get invited to another NFL camp IMO. But apparently he does NOTHING well.
Not really a presence against the run, not a great one on one pass rusher.

It's hard to believe the guy who was such a BEAST on film at times playing for OSU couldn't figure out how to get it done in the pros.
This is Gholston's 4th year in the league, although he's not an old guy. But I think his ego/confidence and motivation are shot.

I doubt he believes in himself at this point.

I remember vividly (on another site) when another poster said that Gholston was his #1 ranked player in that draft...

I said Gholston couldn't rush the passer or play the run...

That poster sig-quoted me for over a year. I wonder where he is now.

Somebody out there can get him to perform. The guy has too much physical ability. He's just not getting coaching, and he was a poor fit in the 3-4.

Not getting coaching? Rex Ryan in New York and Rod Marinelli in Chicago. 'Nuff said.

Despite all evidence that says he is a scrub and will never start for an NFL team I would not mind it if the Colts brought him in. I liked him so, so much in college. I don't even like OSU players. Ever. But I loved Gholston.

That's not a good argument at all. Just because they're good coaches doesn't mean they can coach everybody effectively. Maybe he will respond better to a different style of coaching.

ive had a weird infatuation with OSU dlineman since him....thaddeus gibson huge amounts of man love, drafted by the steelers and cut. heyward, thought he was easily the best 5 tech this last year drafted by the steelers (and looks studly so far)

sigh....bring his ass in lol

One the ball is snapped, he has to do something! Coaching can only do so much.

This guy has had some good coaching, and good talent evaluators. He is a Jamarcus Russell-bust.
He makes Charles Rogers career look HOF worthy.

From what has been said of him in the past he is quite an intelligent guy who takes on board what the coaches are telling him and works very hard. Just for whatever reason he simply can't play in the NFL. It happens. I really don't see him landing anywhere and even becoming serviceable for any team

If he can't play on a line composed of Suh, Corey Williams, and KVB... he should just give up and go sell insurance.

Just in my experience (and it's almost completely different), I've met "smart" people who work hard who are dumb as a box of rocks.

I know it's cliche, but they lack "it".

Jamarcus Russell did stuff in the NFL. Gholston has never made a single play, hahaha. Does he even have a tackle for a loss?

It isn't even about coaching at this point. He hired Lawrence Taylor to give him some pointers and Taylor coulden't even help him and LT is arguably one of if not the best defensive player of all time. The guy lacks the killer instinct to be a force at his position. He seems more like the bodybuilding type who came to the NFL just because it would allow him to make millions of guaranteed cash. Eddy Curry was the same way for the NBA(Outside of being in shape_....he wanted to be a dancer but because of his 7 foot height, he was able to sucker the Bulls into using a top pick for him out of high school and he ultimately failed to live up to expectations.

What it comes down to with Gholston is heart and to want "it" and I have yet to see him want "it" or show any desire to get better. And if you don't have that, you are going to fail regardless of how buff you are or imposing you look. Simple as that. Gholston could be a successful strength and conditioning coach down the road and a great trainer sometime because he has shown he doesn't care enough for football on the field.

Made a few special team tackles. I think he did force a fumble in a game, so that might be his career highlight thus far in the NFL.
