View Full Version : If you were a megastar player in the NFL how would you treat the media?

I've always wondered how certain players deal with the media, or rather what their perception is of it and having to deal with it a good amount of the time. Especially if you are a popular player in the NFL. As a fan the media kind of ticks me off a good amount of the time. I know it's probably par for the course and reporters just want a good story no matter the outcome of whatever. I do remember some instances when I really felt for the players side at times when the media just downright disrespects the integrity of the game, even in interviews...such as the media immediately questioning Jim Harbaugh's future after the Orange Bowl...or Andrew Luck's...even after they told them they didn't want to talk about it multiple times. That's just one example of many.

Really, I think would take the Corey Dillon/Bill Belichick route and just be as evasive and unenthusiastic as possible. Bill Walsh once said that the media are never really your buddies or whatever and they actually want you to fail...so you make them look good. At least sportswriters. What angle do you think you would take if you were a professional? Would you bask in the glow like Favre did? Or would you remain hidden amongst the shadows like Sterling Sharpe or Corey Dillon?

Pretty sure I'd be a cocky asshole in order to soak up all endorsement money I could. NFL life is short enough, might as well make some coin while you're playing.

I admire Nnamdi Asomugha for his thoughtful, charismatic dealings with the media. I would probably try this but fail miserably and end up being the silent type.

I would say exactly what i thought, no holds barred.

Therefore i would probably be hated by most fans and all of the league.

I would receive an ungodly amount of fines, and probably be out of the league within 3 years.

I'd be honest. As a fan, I hate coach speak. I want to hear what player actually think. I wouldn't be a dick like TO. But I would try to be honest.

This and I would call out the media like Aaron Rodgers did a couple days ago.

I despise the media so I would avoid it. I would give interviews for my teams website however to save face with the fans. But I wouldn't speak to them, ass holes all of them.

Didn't know James Harrison had a SWDC account.

In person, I'm generally pretty quiet and shy. I imagine I'd be same was a star, preferring just to be left alone. Give the occasional short interview here and there, but I'd mostly want to stay out of the limelight.

I would love to see what you would have to say if Trent Dilfer said something negative about you...

I probably would get ******** shy and do interviews with the helmet with a visor like Ricky Williams.

I would be super interactive with my fans on social media like Ocho. Generally try to be a good guy and semi funny so I could get some commercial deals and a load of sponsorships. Milk that cash while it lasts!

I would do things like send co-workers dick pics and come in and out of retirement so I get extra interviews where I can then be indecisive and inconspicuous.

I'd be a media darling. They would love me and write good things about me. I would be considered one of the NFL's "good guys."

I don't have trouble with losing my temper or saying something stupid most of the time, so I wouldn't be afraid to speak to the media. I would be honest, but anything that regarded another person I would leave to me and that person. I wouldn't tell the media about a problem I was having I would just go to the person. I think I'd be a little like Aaron Rodgers.

I would guarantee a win every week in an attempt to kill the non story story that comes up when a player sometimes says 'We are gonna win'.

I would also troll the media and do stuff like Stevie Johnson and blame gods and stupid stuff for losing. It is the ultimate team sport and you can't get to the reality in soundbites. There are 100 plays in a game with 22 separate variables.

There are only 16 games over 4 months that matter. And you only in approx 30min of action on those days. You need to have fun with a almost 90% back-burner before the whistle sport like the NFL.

well as a packers fan you would know something about injuries right?
