Technically I guess, but in the last two games we've been outscored 89 to 10.. at least these other teams are somewhat competitive. We haven't been competitive on a single down of football.

So you would kick a FG on 1st down once you got into FG range every time?
I didn't see it happen and I don't know the details, but it is a situation thing. If it's late in the game and it puts you up two scores, don't take the points off. Turnovers happen so easily in today's NFL, even moreso when Alex Smith is your QB. Plus, you might just have to kick it again and field goals can be missed...
It's a situational kind of thing.

I think either way you go with that decision is a good move. With 11 minutes left, it was too early to worry about running time off the clock with just a touchdown lead. Take the field goal and let your defense play - they've been doing well against the Cowboys all day.

Well, he did set the bar way too high last year by simply playing past his abilities. He was not that kind of player coming out of college. He's, literally, probably already peaked. He's more of a #2 than a shutdown #1. But this is quite a regression.

McCourty has been up against Brandon Marshall and Vincent Jackson. As a sophomore CB who had no offseason to work on his craft and a team that didn't address the pass-rush in the offseason like they maybe should have, I think it's unfair to hammer the guy for struggling against those two huge, physically imposing WR's.

Simpson mostly just had 1 really big catch. Green however though, caught nearly everything thrown his way.
People can say what they want about the defenses we've played against, but Dalton is looking like a real stud. Considering all I've heard is that he's more in the mold of a "back up" type QB from this forum, he's really proving people wrong.
I'm not saying he's even our franchise QB yet, I just really like what he's done so far, regardless of how good the defenses have been (even the Broncos injured defense).

49ers suck. I really don't know what to say right now. Fixt the secondary, fix the offensive line, and get a new quarterback. Oh and grow a pair Harbaugh. You sucked as a player do you really want to suck as a head coach in the NFL too?

Still blaming Smith for this? Come on, Ness.
See my post in the main thread? I said he looked good. I just don't think he is the quarterback of the future. He has limited his mistakes, but he still can't make huge plays consistently week in and week out. Really, the 49ers aren't going to be a playoff contender year after year with Smith at quarterback. He's just not very good plain and simple. I don't pin today's loss on him though. That goes to the secondary (jam the ******* receivers morons) and the offensive line.

Again, this is a gameday thread. The 49ers did NOT lose the game today because of poor play by Alex Smith, which is why I found it weird that his name was the only individual name being brought up.
Thank you 2005.
Question for Buc fans: Where was Mike Williams today?
Yes we should have not listened to McCarthy, who wanted Alex.

Right, but they didn't win the game because of great play by him either. Even if the 49ers won this game, I still feel that position needs to be upgraded moving forward. He wasn't the reason we lost (although one of his turnovers led to points for Dallas), but he's not going to lead this franchise back to the playoffs or Super Bowl. It's been seven years. Time for a change.

Soft defense in the 4th quarter and a philosophy to "not lose" instead of aggressively pursuing a win.
I don't understand why coaches do this. Playing soft with a tight lead. It's just like posion. You let the team slowly march down he field and score and then there is little time for you to actually score yourself once you are behind. I would rather play tight, blitz all day and give up a big play and let the other team score so I have enough time to come back and score. It's so stupid.
