After throwing for 854 yards in his first two games, Cam Newton had the NFL record for most yards in the first two games of any season (previously held by Kurt Warner in 2000 with 827 yards).

4 hours later, Tom Brady would have totaled 940 yards in his first two games, breaking Newton's brand new NFL record.

Buffalo and Jacksonville should prepare for round 3.

With all the new rules it's a different game nowadays. I hope the pendulum starts to swing back to the running game and defense a bit more but that seems unlikely at this point.

Hopefully Brady will be as good as Newton someday.

Cam Newton is 3 time Super Bowl winner of rookie QBs.

I know some people are going over board with the Cam Newton stuff but the kid does deserve some credit.

I for one thought he would bust or at best take a few years to come around. I never thought he would come out of the gate playing so well.

I'm with you honestly, I thought he would bust and has played damn well thus far. Most of my jokes are aimed just at some of the people going over board with a few games rather than the kid himself. I think that goes for most people making the jokes.

I would hope so. The current NFL kind of sucks.....****** Bill Polian.

There should be an asterisk next to this one in the books. It's practically a different game than the one Newton played when he first set the record.

I'm really curious what kind of numbers Brady puts up this season.
5000 yards passing seems almost like a given. How much higher realistically can he go above that??

Good question.

Better question, how much above THAT will Newton throw for? It seems like 60,000 is a given.

As of now he's on pace for 7,520. I'd say that's the low end.

Brady only needs 281 (against the Bills) to eclipse Kurt Warner's 3 game mark for most pass yards in the first 3 games of any season.

San Diego and Miami were both top 5 pass defenses last year... I really just don't know what to think.

Campbell threw for 323...Brady should hit 281 no problem

Gronk is the best TE in the NFL and Hernandez isn't that far behind? Also, they still have Branch, Welker, and their 5th best receiving option is ******* Chad 85....? To top it off, Brady might be a decent QB...and his OL is the best it's been possibly ever.

Over/under 70,000 yards for Newton and over/under 65 INT's for Luke McCown.

Yards are pretty, but last I checked we had the highest scoring offense :D

I miss defense and running games (that Adrian Peterson isn't involved in).

It would still take a great effort from Brady to get near the 5000 yard mark this season and to be honest Im more impressed once again with his TD:INT ratio this year, but looking at the Pats offense it's hard to see any team slow him down for a while. I really don't see any team who can match up favourably with the receiving options(TEs in particular) and the weakness of the interior O line seems to have been shored up at least for the short term. Miami and SD will both be above average defenses this year and Tom Brady looks like he's playing Madden so far

Our aforementioned #1 scoring offense is also the #1 rushing offense in the league. Fred Jackson has been the catalyst for our offense (currently averaging 6.5 ypc) and CJ Thriller was on display today, as well.

Yeah, I don't give a **** about hijacking a Patriots thread.

Pretty sure that is the next step in the whole 2012 apocalypse theory right?

I mean one of those two teams winning a superbowl is like dividing by zero, amirite?

Brady is gonna pass for 5500 yards this season, book it.

Not at all, the NFL has basically removed defenses from the game, this should be shocking to no one that were going to start seeing passing records go left and right.

How happy must Under Armour be about their two main men lighting things up?
