The O-line is fine. Mo-jo is Great, and Marcedes Lewis is solid to good. But the receivers....Jesus Christ

I fully expect him to be serviceable this year, and then be very good next year WHEN not if, they draft a receiver in the first round next year. Maybe mojo will face only 8 man fronts instead of 9 like against the Jets.

18tds, 13 ints for the year.

C'mon man. You're not giving Steve Smith 2.0 enough credit!

I'm not even sure it's likely J'Ville drafts a WR in the 1st next year. They have needs at DE, OLB, and everywhere in the secondary, in addition to WR. Plus, the FCS doesn't have an awesome WR coming out either! :D

CANTON! I have faith that he will do well. I see a heavy dose of Karim and MJD, keep the offense simple for Blaine.

who the hell is steve smith 2.0? Hope you don't mean mike thomas. This team hasn't had a receiver that scares anyone since Jimmy Smith had 112 catches and 1,500yards in 2001. OLB is fine

Seconded. None of this 18-13. More like 9-13.

I think Mike Thomas is a good WR. I expect 1 TD and 2-3 INTs from Blaine.

Where's the natural when we need him? For this week i would think he could take advantage of a makeshift lb corps and get some things done in the short passing game and he might just surprise some people for the season.

On a somewhat unrelated topic how soon before we see Ponder in Minnesota and even some Jake Locker in certain situations for Tennessee?

Some Jags fans pegged Mike Thomas as Steve Smith 2.0 after his rookie season and bragged about it. Yeah...

We don't have a need at OLB.

You will when you realize signing Clint Session to a 5-year, $30 million deal was insane. He's an average WLB and has played a full season only once in his career. You sub your LB's out in the Nickel too, so in the Titans game, Sessions only played 6 downs. 6 plays in the entire game, and you paid him $30 million. When I first heard ya'll signed him, I figured it was a cheap 1-year deal.

Yes, the FCS does :)

In your next mock, I better see "With the 12ish overall pick, the Jacksonville Jaguars select Brandon Bostick, WR, Newberry!!!" :D

Or I guess that Quick fellow, but there's no way that's his real last name!

I don't care about your opinion of the player so let me rephrase...

There's no way the Jags draft an OLB high in the draft. That was my point.

I'm thinking he has an average game. The Panthers were the worst team in the NFL last season and they are getting banged up early at linebacker. This is a good game to start against. And it's early in the season too. I still think Del Rio probably should have kept Garrard though. Especially now that the Colts are most likely the worst team in the division.

I agree, but not on the basis that they'll pass on a talented OLB because they're set at the position, but because they dug themselves into a ditch and will be forced to sit on their hands.

Still doesn't disprove that OLB needs improvement, which wasn't even my main point. In actuality, my point was that you can't peg WR automatically since they have multiple needs, which opens up their decision options and draft possibilities. I tried listing all their needs, and wasn't trying to make it out that they were all dire or more pressing than WR - mainly just casting doubt on the assertion. You had to nitpick a single piece of my point, for whatever reason, but I'll stand by it, and I probably shouldn't have listed them loosely like that and should've delved into it a bit more. I take the opinions of fans who regularly follow a team that I don't into consideration more than most others on this board. But he's an expensive, injury prone WLB that isn't an every down player, and not only that but the only depth behind him is Russell Allen and the only other LB on roster is Kyle Bosworth, so it's two players backing three spots and one of those spots is even more succeptable, so depth is questionable as well. They won't address it in the 1st RD, but it's still a concern for me, at least.

I predict Gabbert sucks big time. My opinion of him hasn't changed since the draft.

Like Newton, I think Gabbert shows better than anyone thought possible as a rookie.
I think Gabby goes for over 3000 yards passing, @60% completions, under 18 INTs and over 15 TDs.

He barely managed that in college, and now his team is consistently inferior to the opposition. I don't think so. I think he's going to get hit a few more times, and then all his passes are going to be thrown from a backpedal.

I think he will look alright. 1 TD 2 Ints, probably around 200 yards passing. I think Newton might put up another impressive game against the Jags weak secondary. I can see Steve Smith having a TD and Newton throwing for like 300 with 2 TDs and a int

I think that will have more to do with MJD than Gabbert, though

A long day for a QB with little time to learn the system and adjust to pro football.

So 5 coaches and 37 offensive coordinators later, Gabbert will still somehow be starting in Jacksonville?

Weak Panthers secondary. I'll say 1TD, 2 INTS, and 338 yards passing. Thus, he is the 2nd best QB in the league.

Bad conditions and horrible play calling. This week didn't tell us whole bunch.
