Can somebody write me an essay on one of the following topics:

(1) Does Mill’s “harm principle” allow for enough state intervention in our mutual dealings and exchanges? Why or why not? Give examples.

(2) What does Hobbes mean by a “state of nature”? Do you think he is right to insist that without a very strong government we would descend into such a state? Can you provide any examples to back up your answer?

(3) Compare Nozick and Marx on the problem of private property. Does each individual have an inalienable right to his or her property? What limitations, if any, should the State impose on this right? Be sure to display an awareness of what the opposing view would object to in your position. Can you meet your opponent’s objections?

My predicament is that I don't have any one in my class' phone number, nobodys on MSN, I have no idea what it's even asking, and nobodys responding to the topic on the class discussion forum. I also asked my dad, and he was hella confused. So I am completely desperate at this point.

I remember answering questions like that in Grade 12 Physics. It's asking how fast the person was travelling I believe, they just left out a word.

Sad thing is I took Political Theory last year and could probably write the first two essays. Unfortunately I don't have time for that. #2 would by far be the easiest though.

What class is it for?
Physics would be speed or velocity of the pole vaulter I am assuming.
Calculus would be just figuring out the angles and distance's of the triangle but there's not enough info. One side and one angle [you can assume the 90 degree angle opposite the Hypotenuse].

Also, I don't know about that. I think there's to many variables. There needs to be another piece of information.

If it is indeed calculus, use the SOHCAHTOA technique but you would need another angle or side...

Physics I'm rusty on and I would have to look some refreshers up online....

I still think there is missing info.

Love Portfolio

In the song Do You Remember by Jack Johnson, love flows throughout the whole two minutes and twenty-four seconds of it. If I were to go on a date of some sort, I would definitely play this song in my car because it is that mood setting type of song, to go along with some fancy lyrics. Jack starts the song off by saying, “Do you remember when we first met, I sure do.” This is very romantic because girls love it when guys remember small things like that. Jack goes on to say, “You made me wait around, I was so crazy about you, I didn’t mind. So I was late for class, I locked my bike to yours, it wasn’t hard to find, you painted flowers on. Guess that I was afraid that if you rode away you might not roll back.” This is ‘cute’ too because it starts off saying how he is so crazy for this one girl and he did not mind if he was late for class, just so he could see her. He then locked his bike up to hers so she could not ride away from him (I do not think she would of anyway with this type of poet). Lines later Jack says, “Well I was crazy about you then and now the craziest thing of all, over 10 years have gone by and you’re still mine, were locked in time.” This is almost the definition of love right here as ten years ago they were together, being crazy for each other and are still together being, yes, crazy for each other. I hope you enjoyed listening to Jack and I, and how he is such a stud.

well the exact assignment was

Bring to class one example of...
- how love is represented in literature, poetry, art, sculpture, or music.

Or

- How love intimacy and romance are depicted in the mass media

Be ready to explain how/why your example is representative of love in our culture. What does it mean or represent? Why is it romantic?

If you can D/L songs, Spill Canvas ~ The Tide is a great song.

It's kind of like anti love and all the heartbreak and all it brings and then the end (the chorus changes) and does the 180...It's a ballad, a story and is defiantly worth the time to listen to...

p.s. the song is long, like 5+mins, but still worth a listen...Esp if you like softer acoustic.

EDIT: I don't know why I didn't think of PureVolume.com http://www.purevolume.com/albums/thespillcanvas/sunsetsandcarcrashes then click on The Tide...

In math and physics, it always help to break down what you have and analyze from there.

One number is twice another.
So we have X and 2X.

Their sum is 120.
We can now say that X + 2X = 120.

Find the numbers.
X + 2X = 120
=> 3X = 120
=> X = 40.

Thus, the numbers are 40 and 80.

this is how you do it.
for my 1k post.

you take the derivitave of the equasion. r=(-x^2)/5+80x-500.

the derivitave of that is r'=-2x/5+80 (if you don't know how to get that let me know)

you solve for r'=-2x/5+80 (which is 200). 200 is the tangent point on the r equasion.

200 = 7500
201 = 7499.8

no prob.

to get to -2x/5+80 from -x^2/5+80x-500 comes to reducing the power of the variable by one.
so x2 would become x... and you multiply the coefficient by the power you reduced it from (which would be two). so it becomes -2x^1... since 80x is already at the first power 80*1 is still 80. and x^0 will always = 1. 500, since it doesn't have a variable attached to it becomes 0. and then you mark it as r'= -2x/5+80 because it's the original equasion derived (the r' is noted as r prime)...

so... i hope that worked? you're probably just starting calc one right?
it's a basic concept that you'll get really good at soon.

Iran is run by a group of shia clerks who allow certain individuals to run for office. In that particular manner, where it's not specifically run by the monastic element, it is dictated by it.

Vatican City is definitely a theocratic city state with itself being run by Archbishop Lajolo. He's basically 'in charge' of it all. Delegating printing, security, and all taxation of vatican lands. (all .44 square miles of it)..

Uh. Branch Davidaism (think david koresh), did that on a smaller scale outside of waco. Where it wasn't a full fledge government, but on a small scale of trying to secede from the 'outside world' to protect themselves from the oncoming apocolypse.

haha. i like creative examples?

hell we could have even talked about early american history, the spanish inquisition, it all depends on what you define as religion? a set of common ideals? you could have cold war russia in that state. the state religion which controlled the government was the sole belief in the stalinist state and his essential ultimate control as the leader (because honestly, why would you have the battle of st. petersburg if you didn't have some fanatical fervent of pseudo-relgious ideals?)

okay. so yes. the taliban too was a good example. teachers like creativity too? because everyone saying the taliban would be boring to discuss...

i forgot the non-adherent examples.

2.) An unusual die has six faces labeled 1,2,3,5,7,9. If two of these dice are rolled and the numbers showing on the upper faces are added, what is the probability of rolling a sum of 10?

You can only get a sum of 10 by rolling 1 and 9 or 3 and 7 or 5's. Obviously the numbers can occur on each dice so there are 2 ways of getting 1 and 9, 3 and 7, 5's. So there are 6 ways of rolling a sum of 10. There are 6 possibilities on each dice so 36 different combinations can be achieved in total. Therefore the probability is 6/36 or 1/6.

There's probably an easier way of explaining what I said, but I am pretty sure it's right. I'm having a brain fart on number 1, I'll have a think.

hahah we just read this. Are you in AP Senior English?

It's mostly the isolation, depression, guilt, etc. he feels because he's unable to provide for his family. His family honestly doesn't really care about him when he was in human state, they were all about the cash he brought in. They eventually become disgusted with him and are actually overjoyed that the monstrosity died, but the story is basically the huge disconnect that becomes wider as a result of him getting animalized.

OH OH also, as a human, he pretty much was robotic. He doesn't appreciate art or beauty, doesn't form friendships, has no soul but to work and support his family. Wasn't even love anymore for them, more like instinct. But when he becomes a bug, he becomes "human", and appreciates the beauty of his sister playing the violin, gets aroused sexually, and loves his family and desires their love in return. In a sense he's more human as a bug than as a man.

A couple problem solving questions...

1.) What could be the next term in this sequence:

2, 10, 202,...

You put the 2 and 10 together=210. Subtract backwards from the original, 10-2=8. 210-8=202. So.. 10202,202-10=192. 10202-192=10010

I quarantee Im wrong, thats just how my mind works.

I really don't know if this is helpful but I would say 3 out of every 5 kids I see around my campus are listening to iPods between walking to class. Not really sure it is a growing trend but with some research I bet 7 years ago it was a lot different.

You could probably make an argument for the use of laptops in class / lectures also and see if there is a connection between how high tech the school is.

Funny you mention those ideas . . . the I-Pod story is alreayd being done by more than a couple people in my class. I don't want to do the same story.

But as for laptop usage, I consider that as a possibility at this point. Seems like a lot more people are bringing laptops to class these days . . . my University has wireless internet all over campus . . .

I'm just not sure if there are any true statistics available that I could use to make my argument for this . . . I'd like to consider more options . . .

Thanks

We often hear people speak of "the Church" in the Middle Ages as if the Church was a monolithic entity, directing all actions in Christendom. Yet over the course of the semester we’ve talked about how Christianity was more complex than this, that it included a variety of individuals such as monks and nuns, bishops and the Pope, as well as the laity, and that it changed over time. Discuss the ideal of “the Church” and the ideal of a pope who leads Christendom (i.e. papal monarchy) put forth by numerous individuals. Also discuss when this ideal was closest to being realized (specific time period and events) and how it fell out of favor with the crises in the church, and society, in the Late Middle Ages

For my Computer Science Class. Question for all the adults who has actually done some grown up things in there lives:

EXERCISE 1:
1.You are considering purchasing a used car that will cost you $15,000. You will be making a down payment of $2,500. You've agreed to an annual interest rate (APR) of 7.5%, with payments of $199 per month. Enter these values into the spreadsheet.

2.What is the dealer's cost for the vehicle? _____

3.At the end of the first year, what is the approximate value of your vehicle? _____

4.How much will you owe on your loan at the end of the first year? _____

5.At the end of the first year, will you be "upside down" (owe more than the vehicle is worth)? _____

6. Assuming you never miss a payment, approximately how many years will it take before you are no longer "upside down"? _____

7.Approximately how many years will it take to pay off your car loan? _____

8.Let's assume you decide to trade the car in for a new car at the end of the third year. What might be the negative aspects of such a transaction? _____

Some how I'm suppose to do all the calculation on Excel. And I'm a computer savy guy, but excel is my Achilles Heel. I'm a business major I should know this , yes. But this stuff just went over my head. Anyone with a clue?

MetSox17

2. The dealer's cost i assume would be whatever is left to be paid, so at the point of sale is 12500. (not very sure about that one)

3. Using the future value formula, the value of your down payment in one year would be $2403.84. Add that to the growing future value of each payment you make ($185.98) monthly ($2231.77 total) and the nominal value is $4635.61.

4. No clue yet. (i'll edit later)

5. Yes, obviously

6. See 4

7. See 6

8. Well after you adjust what you've paid for to the inflation after the third year, you'll realize that to anyone else that car is no where near worth what you've paid for it. The only person that car has the value you paid for, is you.

And if you do it to take out another car, the vicious cycle starts again.

We're going through some of this stuff in Micro, but i'm a good ways from entering my Finance core, so i did what i could to help, and for some good ol practice since i'm probably gonna be doing this for a good chunk of my life.

If it's wrong, please correct it so i can learn myself.

Edit - If anyone needs help with Spanish, you got yourself a good ol mezzican right here to help. I'm fluent.

I'm focusing mostly on the Welfare part, and not the other two, so if anyone could hit me up with some good sources, opinions or ideas, that would be great!

Illegal Immgrants rip off Welfar by comming into the country pregnant or having kids born here. Then the kids get money since they are U.S. citizens, like food stamps and stuff.

1 example i saw a while backs was a family had 2 or 3 kids where get 18,000 dollars in income from the government. Not from working from the government because they were illegal but there kids where born here they were the ages of 6, 2, 3.

Also Illegal immagrants have their own IRS code to get welfare even though they shouldn't. something about they don't pay taxes and eventaully will get S.S.

bhaarat316
04-22-2008, 11:19 PM
Also Welfare that could be used for citizens end up be spend on illegals. We us there is some number out there that tell how much.

People rip off unemployment all the time especially in the inner cities and places with poverty. Making up injuries and thing of taht nature.

I need help for some homework due at 4.

1. Nonconstant growth.
Microtech Corporation is expanding rapidly and currently needs to retain all of its earnings, hence it does not pay dividends. However, investors expect Microtech to begin paying dividends, beginning with a dividend of $1 coming three years from today. The dividend should grow rapidly - at a rate of 50% per year - during years four and five, but after year five, growth shoul dbe a constant 8% per year. If the required return on Microtech is 15%, what is the value of the stock today?

2. Nonconstant growth. Mitts Cosmetics Co.'s stock price is $58.88, and it recently paid a $2 dividend. This dividend is expected to grow by 25% for the next three years, and then grow forever at a constant rate, g, and r(s)=12%. At what constnat rate is the stock expected to grow after year three?

I'm a little stumped with these two, thanks in advance for whoever can help! *looks nervously at AQ*.

Identify the possible reasons that thers reacted as they did, and explain how their reactions, in turn, affected the newcomer. User your analysis to reach some conclusions about human nature"

"Write an essay showing how you or someone else's entry into a specific public space (for example, a bus, party, elevator, or table at the library) influenced other people's behavior. Identify the possible reasons that others reacted as they did, and explain how their reactions, in turn, affected the newcomer. User your analysis to reach some conclusions about human nature"
The easiest one here would be something about race.

Regardless of what angle you take, things you may notice about human nature would obviously scripted responses/interaction (polite fictions) or sociocultural presumptions about certain people and etc., it's a pretty easy assignment.

Yeah i got that part, but its the organizing it into a essay is whats making it difficult for me. I was watching this video on youtube earlier similar to this essay its pretty funny.

heres my advice, just dont laugh because im totally serious:

when i go to bed before a test, i put my notes under a pillow; idk how it works but i've never gotten below a B when i've done it

i had a real big political science test (10 multiple choice questions, 3 essays--30, 25, 19 points each) and i got an '88' on it (90 is an A)

im telling you it works; i've told 3 other people to try it, and they are believers

It was a joke, and if you tell yourself something long enough, eventually you'll believe it. Not everyone is as superstitious as you are, Kwilk.
