I'm glad to see Ingram is finally starting get some of that recognition that he deserves.
That leads to the other issue, which is position. Is Ingram big and strong enough to make it along the d-line in the NFL and if not is he fast (4.80) and athletic enough to make the conversion to linebacker?
In my eyes this is an easy question...he's a 4-3 DE all the way. His strength is one of his best assets as a DE which he's been able to use at both the 5 and 3 technique in SCAR's hybrid D. I don't want to be totally dismissive of the idea him being a rush backer in a 34 with his freakish natural athleticism. Maybe in a Parcells' scheme but those are becoming more scarce today. Personally, I don't see the Eric Norwood comparison at all. Comparing a 275-280 DE/DT/5-Tech to a 6'1 245 stand up LB? I just don't see it.
Anyhow, with all the question marks with this DE class, if Ingram continues to play at a high level and tests like his play suggests he can, I could foresee him possibly moving up into the early 2nd-late 1st range.

There is nothing wrong with comparing him to Norwood. He's essentially assuming the same type of role. Norwood spent time at DE and LB at South Carolina, starting and alternating at both positions. I dont know how you can just call him a "stand up" LB. He even plays DE for the Panthers right now. But yeah, he's a similar playmaker, with a tweener's physique. Both just had this unreal knack for making plays and finding the end zone. Sure their bodies arent exact or anything, and Norwood didnt play a whole lot of DT, but at SCAR at least...the guy is essentially Norwood 2.0, just an exceptional playmaker, who you can lineup all over the field.
43 DE is probably the best place for him. But I def. like him at 34 OLB. I dont see him having a problem making that transition. His athletic ability is pretty damn special. Former RB in high school and former LB when he arrived. The quickness and closing ability is exceptional. He may time better than that assumed 4.8. The guy can move. But yeah, I dont see any reason why he couldnt move to 34 OLB. Rob Ryan would work magic with a guy like Ingram. He would take full advantage of his abilities. He'd primarily stand up, but he'd get plenty of action at DE and even DT in our nickel packages. It's the same way he likes to use Victor Butler in our defense. The role would be perfect for Ingram.
