i keep hearing rumors with Al wilson being shopped and that the lions are interested now Rogers is rumored to be on the block and that the broncos are interested. Is there a deal including these two players in the works?

I don't want Al Wilson.. Sorry. I'd trade Big Baby for #21 overall though.

We could still trade down to #5 and take Gaines Adams.. and then package #21 and our Round 2 (1360 Points) to the Dolphins (1350) or Texans (1300) to take Patrick Willis.. and still have a Round 2 pick to spare!

Yeah, this would be amazing. I doubt Denver would do it though.

You guys to know Al Wilson failed a physical with the Giants? He may be damaged goods.

Exactly. A week ago, I wanted Al Wilson. After hearing that he failed his physical (and he is getting up there in age), I'd rather have their 1st (or even 2nd and 3rd). If we did trade for a MLB, I'd prefer Vilma at this point.

Taking Gaines Adams and grabbing Willis later in the 1st would be amazing... but I think I'd rather have Landry/Willis and take Spencer/Abiamiri in round 2.

Either way, I'm happy.

This would be a GREAT situation..i'd be happy either way as well. But I want no part of Wilson now. What I read was, the neck injury from the Seattle game is what caused him ti fail his physical. You could get alot more for Shaun Rogers than just Al Wilson..now Shaun Rogers for Champ Bailey..i'd listen:)

Haha. I don't think they'd trade Champ... I don't think anyone would.

Yea. I'm done with wanting Wilson... but I still want to trade SRogers.

I dont think we can get a first for big baby this year, he sat out a good portion of the year and when he had a chance to come back he didnt. Teams realize how good he is im sure, but he has been known to have a sub-par work ethic and is probably overweight.

Id say we hang on to him for another year and if he is as productive as he has been then we trade him and get a first.

I think I'd even trade him for a 2nd... a 2nd is still a quality player.

Marinelli knows how talented he is... but I don't think he'll stand for a negative influence in the locker room.

I was thinking that as well..a team like Tampa may love to get him considering how weak they are at DT. Getting their early 2nd would be like acquiring another 1st rounder..and then they could look at a guy like Tank Tyler, Brandon Mebane or whoever to replace him in the 3rd while addressing another pressing need.

Definately. He can go for a 2nd for sure... and tha'd be a great pick for us.

If we traded him for a 2nd round pick... and traded down and grabbed Willis... that would leave us with 3 2nd round picks... which is amazing. More than enough ammo to move back into round 1 and grab another solid player (or, draft Landry in the first place and trade back up for Willis).

man, could you imagine walking out of the draft with Landry AND Willis??? I know it's a fantasy but still.. I mean seriously, take a minute and ponder that. it would almost be as great as seeing Scarlett Johannson butt-naked in my bed.. Everything after that would be the icing on the cake..

I was listening to the radio guys, and I heard there are a couple of things

- Rogers signed a 6 year deal, with 4 years still remaining
- In that deal, he got a $15M signing bonus

So if they trade him today:
-The Lions will have to take a $10M cap hit this year. (15M signing bonus / 6 yrs, and 4 yrs still left)

But if they can get the other team to pick up his signing bonus, we will be on the hook for whatever amount the team picks up subtracted by $10M.

The more money (signing bonus) you ask the other team to pick up, the less they'll give up in return.

great point and if Rogers is gone, who is going to take his place in the starting lineup, Cody? I really don't believe that Cody is going to amount to anything.

I don't think the Lions can afford to get rid of Rogers even if they really wanted to, not this year. Hall and Bly could go, they were key players in name only, not true stars in my opinion. Rogers is a true star, or at least he could and should be. Then there's the cap hit.

News comes today that he showed up in Allen Park after a week of staying away, so that's a step in the right direction, now it's up to Marinelli and Barry to get him on board the train. Here's hoping they can do it because the Lions with a producing Rogers are better than the Lions with whatever they would have gotten for him.

If you trade him we just are going to have a need at DT. Trade a need for a need. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

If you trade him we just are going to have a need at DT. Trade a need for a need. Doesn't make a lot of sense.I was thinking the same thing at first... but I disagree now.

Rogers has had a few problems in Detroit... he has struggled with his weight in the past (something the coaches wont tolerate), he doesn't seem to buy into Marinelli's approach (at least, not yet) and was injured for a lot of last season. We require a steady pass-rush for our DLine... and I think we could find another pass-rushing DT in this draft (in the 4th-5th rounds). We have Redding and Cody, which can work.

I guess I'd rather have Marinelli trade him and find a true "Marinelli-guy" in the draft... and get a higher pick in the process. If he thinks that Rogers will buy into the program and can stay healthy (and in his weight), we should keep him. But, if he doubts his dedication and doesn't think he's the player he wants, he should trade him.

Trading a player with the talent/value of Rogers can be huge for the draft... potentially giving us 3 2nd round picks (and the ability to move up, take both Adams/Willis or Landry/Willis) and still plenty of picks in the draft.

Replacing Shaun Rogers will not be easy. This is not the year to trade him.

Replacing Shaun Rogers will not be easy. This is not the year to trade him.I just worry that he'll either a) have an attitude, or b) struggle with his weight. I'd much rather trade him for a 1st or 2nd round pick this year than watch him have a bad year and drop in value.

For some reason, I think he's expendable. I guess I'd rather have his pick and trust Marinelli/Millen to make the right moves and draft some great players this year.

Haha. Nice.

Probably. It would suck to have a gaping hole in the middle of our defense... but we had it for some of last year. If he doesn't have the desire to play for Marinelli, we may have it again this year... without compensation.

I'd rather have Vilma. Urlacher is a mean ol' bear... Vilma is a little, 4 person jet.

We can ride Vilma to the Super Bowl, but Urlacher will probably try to eat us.

Cody at NT didn't work. I think Rogers could play the nose even at 360, like Grady Jackson of Atlanta. I'd take Rogers at 380 over Cody at 280 at that position.

i was just speculating ive said before i dont want to trade him but they were talkin about denver talkin to us about rogers and i know wilson is available but keepin rogers is ultimately a better thing for us we have a good thing going with rogers cody and redding as our DT rotation and i think a rogers and redding tandem is going to be scary for opposing teams.

Id still love to make a deal to get wilson i wonder what his value is at in terms of draft picks

It can't be much after the failed physical. They're trying to shop him and he seems to be struggling... I'd imagine a 3rd-4th round pick would do it.

I thought you were always the guy who looked for guys who're gonna be 'beasts' in the league? What has made you change your preference to transportation vehicles?

And! If Urlacher is a mean ol' bear, and Vilma is a 4 person jet... what is tath guy named white we signed? A Deckswabber? Whitebeard? Jack Sparrow?

Ha... hahaha... haha. I probably wouldnt've gotten the White thing without the explanation... but that's funny (if you had included a picture/diagram, no explanation would've been needed).

I like guys that will be "beasts"... unless they play for mean, stupid teams. That lowers their beastiness a bit. For example: if Urlacher was a 9 on the "Beastiness" scale, that number drops to a 7.5 due to him playing for the team that 'we do not speak of'.

If Willis is drafted by Detroit, he'll make a perfect Lion. Rawr. Just running around, eating people. It would be AWESOME! (Unless we play the Dolphins... in which case he'll either drowned... or be the Jesus of mammals, which would be great for the team.)

It's a long story.

no, ROAR is cool and manly and it means 'if you advance one more yard I will be forced to bite your head off and use your collarbones as toothpicks'

rawr means... 'look over there girls, that's a cutie walkin' down the street...'
