If they crap the bed, do they move on that quickly from Kevin Kolb? I really don't know why people think they would after giving him a boatload of guaranteed money.

Oh ok, sir. The resident Cards expert himself weighs in.
Seriously, can Andy Reid ever trade a quarterback to anyone ever again? At some point NFL teams will learn that he is selling snake oil.
This man has been fleecing the NFL for years.
AJ Feeley traded to Dolphins for 2nd round pick
Donovan McNabb traded to Redskins for 2nd round pick + 4th round pick
Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals for player + 2nd round pick

System QBs. Honestly, Kolb wasn't very good in Philly. Very inconsistant. I don't know how they got DRC and a 2nd round pick for him.

They should trade for Charlie Whitehurst.

Today.
I can't wait to bump this thread 5 months from now when the Cards are either the one of the wildcard teams or have won their division and Kolb is putting up 300+ yards in most of his games throwing to Larry Fitzgerald and every Cardinals fan is saying "Dominique Rodgers who?".

Exactly. Good question.
Great answer.
But I think it will take 1 or 2 wins tops to get Luck.
Arizona is already halfway there, and they still have games with the Rams left.

No sign of him.
I still think Kolb can be a consistent 300+ yard, 2 TD+ passer in Arizona, but he has really been struggling lately and I may have been wrong.
I'll give him until the end of the season to prove himself. Because of the lockout, he might just need another offseason to integrate himself fully into Whisenhunt's system.
Or he might just be more Andy Reid snake oil and I was wrong. But I won't concede this until they release him or he looks terrible for longer than a season and a half.

Keep in mind Kolb is playing with the worst LT in the entire NFL and one of the worst lines overall. Too early to judge someone based on five games. The trade didn't even get completed until after the lockout was over.

That's absolutely true. Levi Brown is god-awful. Kolb is one of those QBs who really needs an above-average OL to let him settle in the pocket and deliver accurate passes.
He always looked better in Philly when he had solid pass-blocking up front and struggled mightily when there were breakdowns in protection.
If Arizona finishes with a top-5 pick this year, they might just pick an elite LT prospect such as Matt Kalil and give Kolb another year with better protection and a full offseason before they begin to question him.

This....his RT Brandon Keith is garbage as well. Luckily this year's draft is pretty stocked on the O-Line. Kalil or Johnathan Martin would be good choices if they pick top 10. That defense is pretty pathetic too.
I would argue Kolb is the least of their problems, people just seem to want to throw Kolb under the bus for the trade that was made with Philly. Funny thing is Philly is 1-4 too.

fenikz...do you know how many draft picks they have right now for 2012? I know they gave the second rounder to Philly for Kolb. Do they just have a 1, 3, 4, 5, 6,7? Any rounds w/ multiple picks?

With the rookie salary cap, if the Cards get the 1/1 pick and take Luck, they'll only be on the hook for about $25-30 mil guaranteed. That's reasonable IMO.
What's Kolb's guaranteed money from Arizona?? If KK doesn't demonstrate that he's the long term answer for the Cards, I think there's no chance they pass on Luck.

They definitely take Luck if they get the #1 pick, but I doubt they will. They need to drop some serious picks on that offensive line though. Spend the first and third on their left and right tackles.

I am not on the Kolb bandwagon, but as stated he has one of the worst O-Lines in football right now (the #1 honor goes to the Bears). Keith and Brown both suck-Brown should be moved inside to Guard at the very least. I still think the worst starting O-Tackle goes to Chicago's J'Marcus Webb...Err wait, how about Frank Omiyale... Hell they can share the award.
I think it is too early to pass judgement on Kolb, the guy needs more protection. If 'Zona is smart they will take someone like Kalil/Martin/Reiff, and maybe get another potential starter in the 2nd or 3rd with someone like Mike Adams, Nate Potter or Matt Reynolds

I didn't think he was impressive in the opener despite having a nice looking stat line. One touchdown and five picks in the past three games against mediocre competition is pretty bad.
Definitely needs some protection if he wants to fix that

Not so fast....the Rams OL leads the league or is among the leaders in sacks allowed, QB hits, and QB pressures allowed. Sam has taken a brutal beating and looks like an injury waiting to happen.
Jason Smith absolutely is the essence of suck and Roger Saffold has regressed big time from his performance of last year.
NTM our interior OL of Jacob Bell, Jason Brown and Harvey (Baby) Dahl ain't gettin' it done either.
When you factor in the money invested along with the high level of draft picks utilized into the equation to say the Rams OL is "offensive" is to put it mildly....
Still like Kolb. Not throwing to much behind a dogshit line. Never liked that fit for him in year one.

Clearly need a new OL coach. They have talent there and shouldn't have the problems they're having. Maybe they just aren't understanding the protections in McDaniels offense? Maybe Bradford is struggling to make the right adjustments at the line?
Also, why did they let Daniel Fells go again?

The Cardinals need to draft Kalil, DeCastro, Konz and some olbs. Then Kolb will be amazing.
If your line can't block and your receivers can't get open or catch a ball (save for one), you're not going to be productive as a passer no matter what.
That was a bad spot for Kolb to go into. Especially after a ****** draft that addressed none of the issues they had on offense...

Maybe they can force Patrick Peterson to play both offense and defense. They can make him the #2 WR.

this a million times over. Kolb was garbage from the start.
Is his line bad? yeah.
does he help at all? hell no. soon as the pressure turns up he completely falls apart. kolb reminds me a lot of billy volek as a player. people said he might be a starter and dreamed him into being a much better player than he is/was.

Kolb was never good to begin with.
The only reason he's looked a bit better is because of Larry Fitzgerald. THis was a terrible trade from the start, but not as bad as the one the Raiders made.

actually, im not sure kolbs was any better.
The raiders are getting a guy who has shown great skill, just not in a while. The coach knows him well and maybe knows something we all dont.
the cards got a guy who had shown he was nothing but average from a qb friendly system. id take palmer before i took kolb.
at least with palmer there is a chance he succeeds. i feel like kolb was doomed from the start, as you said too he was never any good.

The reason Palmer hasn't shown great skill the past 2 years is because of his elbow injury back in what, 2007 or 2008. He hasn't been the same, and the same thing happened when Jake Delhome had that injury as well.
He's lost velocity on his throws and has been a different QB ever since.

But Palmer cost them as much as two first round picks. Kolb only cost the Cardinals a second round pick and a talented but underachieving cornerback.
The Kolb deal is still better because two first round picks for Palmer is just ridiculous.

Wellll, the Raiders are really only paying a 1st and 2nd. The Cardinals paid a 2nd and pro bowl CB Cromartie, who they used a 1st on a couple years ago. Pretty similar, I think.

Except that Rodgers Cromartie sucks, has sucked since making the Pro Bowlin 2009, and looks disinterested and gives half-hearted effort on the field. If you watched any Eagles games this year, you'd agree.
DRC is basically no use to anyone anymore on the Cardinals organization; he's a terrible player with a bad attitude. It's like they only gave up a 2nd round pick for Kolb, really.

I've seen plenty of DRC and know what you mean. However the value of a 1st round Pro Bowl player+ a 2nd when compared to a 1st and a 2nd still seems close to me.

He's not a 1st round Pro Bowl player any more. He's barely better than a street free agent at this point.
