So I know we have a lot of these threads that go down hill but hopefully we can have some what of an intelligent discussion.

I was thinking about this after I heard something on the Radio claiming Sidney Crosby is the face of the NHL...

So who is the face of the NFL

Tom Brady easily.

Tom Brady is such an easy answer, but he's a whiner as much as he's a winner.

Peyton Manning or Drew Brees would be my choice.

Honestly, right now it's being groomed to be Aaron Rodgers if it isn't already. Peyton's injury has knocked him down a bit, Vick is not and never will be the face of the NFL, and AD is on too terrible of a team. It's Brady right now, grooming Aaron Rodgers to be it for the next decade.

I don't think there is a face of the NFL nor does the league need one.

The face of the NFL is Roger Goodell for me.

Seriously when I think of the NFL as a whole, he's the guy that stands out. If you're talking about a player, it comes down to individual teams.

Unfortunately, it's Chris Berman.

People recognize Peyton and Brady.

I'm kind of disappointed in Adrian Peterson's lack of popularity. He's just a quiet guy on the national scene, I guess. Nothing wrong with that, but it's kind of weird that we don't hear much from the best RB in the NFL.

He also plays for Minnesota.

I just dont think there is that one guy who is the face of the NFL.

Does anyone think that Rodgers ever gets to the national level that Manning is at as far as name AND face recognition? I don't.

Brett Favre was the face of the NFL at some point, when he used to do those commercials...

I don't think there is just one face to the NFL, so I would say:

-Brady
-Brees
-Aaron Rodgers (becoming)
-Suh (so many godamned commercials, but also I think there is a lot of hype to him and his attitude)

and maybes to:
Megatron
Polamalu
Adrian Peterson

Brady/Manning/Brees.

Next decade will be Rodgers.

Luck may be, but who knows. Newton may be as well. If he turns into a perennial pro bowler, he will have too much swag to not be the cover boy.

First one that comes through my mind would be peyton manning. In europe he's pretty much the most known player. As for the next decade iwould have to say rodgers and suh.

I was thinking Doug Pederson for a second.

It was Manning. It might be Rogers next if he is cooperative but I'm not sure he's interested in that. It won't be Andrew Luck because he's too ugly.

As far as marketability:

IIRC awhile ago Nielsen/E-poll market research did a ranking of the most marketable athletes (I only remember this because LeBron James dropped drastically after "the decision") and Peyton Manning was ranked as the #1 athlete.

Considering the NFL proves time and time again that it is a business first and a league second, I would venture to say the League would consider/want Peyton to be the face of the league.

However, the neck injury may have hurt his marketability... then again, marketability has a lot more to do with name recognition by people who probably have absolutely no idea that Peyton is hurt... so yea; I'm gunna go with Peyton here.
