Heading into the season I was not aware of this guy at all, because of PP, but boy has he been everything that everyone has been saying about him.

This year Kirkpatrick has been the #1 CB prospect on many BBs, but due to the play of Claiborne I believe he has taken over.

The 1 thing that blows me away when I look at Claiborne is that he plays bigger then the listed 6'0'' 185.

I would like for you guys on the forum to have a crack at it, with your thoughts on Claiborne heading into the 2012 Draft if he decides to come out. #1 CB, Top 5 pick etc.

i don't think he'll be a top 5 pick, CBs rarely go that high and we have a bunch of QBs, WRs, and OTs who teams might want first. I think he could/should go top 10 though. Definitely a playmaker and a good athlete at cornerback. I think he's listed at 190 this year isn't he? 6'0"/190 is good size for a cornerback.

Not saying that's a bad size, but he looks much bigger to me. I could give him 195.

regardless of his weight, he has an excellent frame and he doesn't look small on the field. Even if he really weighs in at 6'0"/185 - that is big enough for a rookie cornerback with his skills.

Who's he compare to?

Kind of sort of reminds me of Antrel Rolle.

Who's he compare to?

Honestly, Darell Revis. Thats how good I think he's going to be.

I've had Mo Claiborne #1 on my CB list since very early in the season. He's big, athletic as all get up, makes plays, plays as a premier player on one of the best defenses in recent memory, plays on the big stage against top competition, contributes electric special teams plays...

I'd take him top 10-15. I agree with those who reason that there are too many QB's worthy of top picks for him to go top 5.

I think in the 3-10 range is where he will end up going, teams are starting to value CBs higher with the NFL turning into a passing league. I have him as my #4 prospect overall and he has the potential to be a shut down CB in the NFL. I'd say he is just about on par with Patrick Peterson from last year(PP may have a better 40 time though).

he's no where near the freak that Peterson is but his technique and hips are better

I'd say he is a slower Terrence Newman

He's also younger than Newman was when he was drafted, so that's a big plus.

I used to mix up Claiborne and Peterson quite a bit last year because they looked identical on the field. As long as there are no surprises with his 40, he should go somewhere between 7-12 IMO.

As far as the Newman comparisons, he's way more physical then TNew was. Maybe a more athletic/fluid Malcolm Jenkins?

Cortland Finnegan (who's very underrated in his own right).

Last night pretty much summed up why CLaiborn is the best CB. He;s shwon physicallity, ball reaction awareness and skills, and closing speed to run with WRs on deep balls and track it down.

One of the real stand out players in last nights edition of the Game of the Century. Really made some nice breaks on the ball when it was in the air and did damage when he got the ball in his hands.

If he has elite speed 4.35-4.40, he'll go top 5 otherwise, 6-12 if he lacks top end speed and runs in the 4.50 range. CB's with his skills who have top end speed have always gone in the top 5 of most drafts, it is nothing new, it is just very rare to find.

Claiborn is a better CB prospect than Peterson. Peterson doesnt have fluid hips which I think will make him a FS in the NFL. Claiborn is just a natural CB who's going to be a shutdown CB in the NFL.

a young Charles Woodson? A lot of these LSU CBs remind me of the past Mich guys

Maybe even a Leon Hall type

He reminds me of a young Chris McCallister when I watch him play. He's a very natural CB in everything he does, he's going to be easy to coach. Love him as a prospect.
