If I was running a franchise like the Browns or Broncos, I'd be willing to sacrifice whatever it took. Gutting your Draft for a couple of years is worth it to get a guy who could potentially be your franchise QB for 15 or more years. With modern medical technology, it's not out of the question for Luck to play for 20 years.
If I was running the Browns I'd be willing to offer both 2012 first round picks, 2012 second rounder, 2013 first rounder, 2013 second rounder and any player on the roster. I'd even throw in more, if necessary.

I agree. As I've said in the past, it is impossible to overpay for an elite, franchise quarterback.
I think the Browns could probably even get it done for less than Halsey mentioned. Perhaps the two first rounders and a second rounder in the 2012 NFL Draft and a first rounder in the 2013 NFL Draft. In the end I think a team that needs Luck will end up with the top pick though. Teams that have a good quarterback won't be bad enough to finish with the worst record.
Scott, in the Oct. 28 blog entry, you write:
It doesn’t look like the 2012 NFL Draft is going to feature an elite defensive tackle prospect, which will be quite a change of pace after seeing Ndamukong Suh, Gerald McCoy, Marcell Dareus and Nick Fairley all enter the league in the past couple of years.
Why no mention of PSU DT Devon Still as an elite DT prospect? After watching him play in the last few Penn State games, I have to say that he has almost the same level of potential as a penetrating 4-3 DT as, say, Nick Fairley or Marcell Dareus from last year. He's huge (6'5" 310lbs+) and has tremendous upside as well.

I don't see any team other than the Dolphins or Colts getting the #1 pick, and they'd both draft Luck. Maybe a team will trade up for Barkley similar to what the Jets did with Sanchez. Seattle will take him if he is on the board, but maybe a team like the Browns, Redskins or Chiefs will trade up into the top 5 and select him.

could the colts take him and not play him right away, give peyton a year or two more, depending on how healthy he is? if he isn't healthy, then they could start him, do you think that would be a good situation? or are you penciling him in to start right away regardless?

That would be the ideal situation, assuming Peyton is healthy and Luck is open to it.

I am not sure whether the Colts are ready to take him. After all, reports state that Peyton isn’t settling for waiting any longer.
