This is from Jaguars.com's senior reporter Vic Ketchman's daily question and answer column. He doesn't field questions about just the Jaguars, so it's become a very popular column for fans from around the NFL.

Goran from Jacksonville: The difference is that Vick is the highest-paid player in the game and he does not make big plays at big times. If he did, the Falcons would be in the playoffs every year but they arenít because Vick only throws for 100 yards a game. Another reason is he throws uncatchable balls. The receivers do drop a lot because Vickís passes are always too high or too low to the ground, and the receivers probably don't expect Vick to throw to them because he always throws to Crumpler.

Vic: This just in: Michael Vick is not a sophisticated, pocket-passing quarterback. You figured that out, huh? Vick has passed for 11,505 yards, 71 touchdowns and 52 interceptions in his career. Heís also rushed for 3,870 yards and 21 touchdowns. When you put them together, thatís a lot of yards and touchdowns. The Falcons were 12th in the league last season in total yards of offense per game. Their defense was 22nd in the league in total yards allowed. As you can see, offense wasnít the problem.

Well...the offense didn't help because of our lack of getting the ball into the endzone once we got into the redzone. Not to mention all the drops of 3rd down conversions, that'll kill ya. But yeah, the defense folded up on us pretty bad.

Thanks for bringing this to us =)

I hate statistics....I studied it for years and it's nothing but an easy way to mislead the masses. How much of our offense was gained on those two weeks against the AFC North when Vick was supposedly grasping the West Coast Offense?

I think Vick's accuracy is so spotty because of one of the few noteable statistics. Our WR's get almost zero YAC. How many times do you remember Vick hitting somebody in the numbers? His passes are high or low and it's a Sportscenter Top Play just to make the catch.

I've always enjoyed Vic's posts and I hate to disagree, but our offense is a major problem. Stagnant as all hell when we needed it the most and our D is softer than butter

The problem with the offense is the same as it is for any "run first" ball control offense, namely, it is lousy at coming from behind. If we can score first and then get a stop then we can operate at our own pace. If, as was so often the case, the offense begins the game from behind then we are doomed to lose. Of course, it doesn't help the cause if the QB can't throw the ball in the ocean. Ball control offense absolutely requires an accurate QB, which Vick isn't and apparently never will be.
