This was the 2005 NFL Draft Recap from the genius at Yahoo sports.

DAY 1 WINNERS

Ohio State RB Maurice Clarett
Not only does the guy end up going higher than anyone thought possible the last pick in the third round he lands with a team that suits his skills perfectly. The Denver Broncos have become a factory when it comes to transforming guys like Clarett into 1,000-yard rushers. Oh, and the third round might have been his best-case scenario last year, so Clarett essentially lost no ground in the past 12 months

Day 1 Losers

Green Bay Packers
Getting Aaron Rodgers at the 24th pick is nice, but the Packers failed to make any choice that will make an immediate impact on next season's team. And that's not good when you have an aging icon like Brett Favre who is constantly teetering on retirement.
Beyond Rodgers, safety Nick Collins was an atrocious reach in the second round, and wide receiver Terrence Murphy is not a need whatsoever.

Collins was playing as well as any safety in the NFL the past few years, aside from -perhaps- Polamalu & Ed Reed.

I don't think their writer had done enough work traveling to Bethune College games to scout Collins. Wonder what he based his opinion on.

I barely care what Yahoo says about football today, why would I give a **** about what they said in 2005?

It's funny b/c Clarett got $0 guaranteed on his contract and didn't make the team - so he made pennies in his NFL career. Packers were the biggest winners in that draft out of all the teams in the league by far.

I hope to gawd that the Packers lose in the playoffs so the A Rod suck fest can calm down a little.

And Tom Brady was taken in the 7th round. Look at some of your own projections and predictions on prospects, I bet there are a couple you whiffed on.

Quarterback?

Thought he had a kids show with a trolley and puppets.

That's not fair. There are guys that suck in college but have athletic talent that go pro and get a lot better.

Quarterback? I thought he was a movie star. He's in that commercial...

6th round. He was pick 199. There are mistakes every year, but it's just funny to look back at them.

Funny how everyone hates on the Packers just because they all know we are a mile better than any team in the NFL. Its not our fault your teams are crap!

The combination of your user name and comment you just made pretty much sums up why the rest of us are sick to death of Aaron Rodgers/Packers jizzfest we are constantly exposed to here.

I feel like in the initial post they only got ONE thing wrong, and that is Nick Collins. Yes, Clarett was a winner to get picked that high. He won, the Broncos lost. They said Rodgers was a nice pick.
