I don't know what it is down in Texas, but it's quite obvious they have the bug floating around. First goes Schaub & down goes Leinart to follow as well.

Leinart = Broken Collarbone

Should Houston have claimed Orton off waivers this past week?

Brett Favre in Houston?

Do you think Brett would consider knowing he would already be put in a playoff situation?

Peter King was just talking that on Football Night in America and it's very, very unlikely.

They signed Kellen Clemens earlier this week. So they have another body on the roster. Personally I think they should have taken a chance on Jeff Garcia. He's 41, sure, but at least he's a has-been instead of a never-was.

They couldn't have, KC had priority over them.

Houston needs a vet & a vet fast. I know this is the first time in franchise history they would be going to the playoffs, but don't let the season be a complete waste & go out in the 1st Round without a "legitimate" leader.

They'll probably make the playoffs and lose in the first round. I'd say though that they'll get to the playoffs before a lot of more well known teams do. Great future.

It's to bad about the Texans QB situation. Clemens does have some experience in the system since he was in Washington and Shanahan runs the same system. The only other free agent QB I could see as a worthwhile signing at this point in the year is Trent Edwards.

The defense and run game is just going to have to carry that team as far as its going to go.

Who here has seen the hit on Leinart?
Is it in a GIF yet?

I call those hits dirty. Just like the one on Romo last year, LB gets there a bit late for the sack, but since the QB has thrown the ball and is off-balance, defenseless, they pin the QB down and drive them as hard as they can into the turf, trying to injure them. Same thing that happened to Sam Bradford at OU vs BYU.

I have no problem with hard sacks, hard clean tackles.
But attempts to injure like this, which are easy to do, are piss-poor, cowardly, and p*ssyshit.

And I don't like Leinart either. I just hate to see backup QBs in the NFL if it's possible to keep starters healthy.

I don't think it was dirty. Leinart held onto the ball until he was about to get sacked and then he tossed it at Foster's feet to avoid a loss. It didn't even look like that hard of a hit. It just looked like he landed wrong on it and it could be since he hasn't been involved in much full contact while being with the scout team in practice.

As far as the Leinart vs TJ Yates debate goes, it is probably tough to tell. I thought the next coming of David Carr was back at QB with the Texans because Leinart didn't even bother to look down field. His first look was the drop off pass to Foster or Tate. At least Yates took a chance down field and looked good for his first few passes. After his first 5 passes he just looked awful.

Didn't he go forty yards to Andre? I wasn't watching the game but following on game center. I believe it was either incomplete or or called back due to penalty.

Nope, was just 15 yards or so. Houston didnt have anything through the air that was close to being 40 yards. Maybe the Owen Daniels catch, but that was from Yates and was mostly YAC. Gamecenter probably just messed up.

Aside from the 1 carry Arian got loose, the defense dared the QBs to beat them, and Foster was stuffed-city.

They need a QB who can hurt a defense deep on occasion, or else the great running game is going to turn into 2 yards and a cloud of dust. Or ground up tires.

TJ Yates was a 4 year starter for UNC, at least he has that going for him. He handled adveristy with the whole UNC scandal and kept the team competitive. I hope he plays well, it sucks how snakebitten the Texans have been with injuries. If Yates can replace Schaub like Barwin/Reed have replaced Williams that would be a great story.

I think Kubiak is somewhat of a QB guru so if anyone can get production out of Yates I think its him.

i disagree. back when they cut him in arizona, a lot of people would argue he was having a better preseason than derek anderson and was cut just to save money. this past week, he went 10/13 and a touchdown with a rating of 110.1. Yates went 8-15 and no scores with a passer rating 45 points less than leinart. i know that isn't a lot to go by at all, it's all we've got. just because leinart didn't pan out in arizona i still believe he might have had some potential as a starter with schaub injured. with all that said, saying yates is better is a HUGE stretch.
